Now having owned this tv for several months, I can honestly say I am not disappointed spending the extra money for the 900F
Pro:
Colors are fantastic, The blacks are black
Functionality great.
Android Apps are easy to use, tough there are a lot of them to sort through.
Set up is easy. Can customize! Strongly recommend downloading complete manual off internet, to assist with set up and customization.
Base is solid and adjustable for narrower stands. Just need to reverse the feet.
Soundbar sits nicely between tv feet.
Cons:
Remote is cheap. Wish they would have made it like LGs
TV speakers are cheap and sounds that way. You will need to use a sound bar or AV receiver.
Responsiveness is a little slow.
Setup directions included with tv is terrible. Again, download the complete manual off internet.

Amazing TV panel. This is one of those products where manufacturers over-achieve, but do not charge the premium price. A calibrated X900F can rival the picture quality of an OLED display, but it will be brighter for HDR content. The only downside to this set are the viewing angles, as well as the slight blooming effect. The Android TV navigation is still slow, but nothing an Apple TV or Nvidia Shile can't fix. Speakers are also average, but like most TVs today, a sound bar or surround sound system is recommended.
The X900E was another amazing TV panel for the price, and the X900F took it to a higher level. As a point of reference, the current X950H is the successor to this TV.

My wife and I are thrilled with this new Sony X900f. Colors are great and picture is sharp. After all my research I was convinced that OLED was something to stay away from because of burn-in. We are extremely pleased with the Sony UHD LED. I was trying to wait for the micro LED technology but that looks to be too far down the road. This is our first Smart TV and I have it direct wired to our home LAN. Love all the features. There is a lot to explore out there. Setup was easy. Paired it with a new Sony A/V Receiver and Sony Blu-ray so all are now 4K capable. Got the Logitech keyboard to make it easier to navigate and fill in searches on the TV.

A good tv with an on sale now during Xmas week pricing equal to the TV's performance.
I know Android well so no complaints there. Just enable developer mode/options and turn off/down all animation scalings(3 of them) in developer options and that makes Android and remote not so laggy. Really speeds up all home screen and apps pages scrolling. Look up "how to enable developer options on an Android TV " if you've never done it before. Works just as well as on an Android phone when it's done on that too.
Picture quality is good. My only complaint is regarding the blooming around ANY and ALL words over an all black screen. Pretty bad and can't be made to go away fully. Otherwise, nice picture and really good HDR brightness including Dolby Vision.
For the price difference of the better and brighter 65 Z9D TV still available right now I actually wish I bought that to have as I don't game so the z9d would have been a better all around TV...brighter, better contrast, better local dimming, and No Blooming around white words over black screen.
But, I am not returning as sale price I paid is a few hundred cheaper than the Z9D is on liquidation until stock is gone. Decide if $400 is worth it or not yourself as the Z9D is better...just heavier but better specs/performance.

I bought this TV during the Black Friday deals (actually during Cyber Monday) and I was hesitant at first to buy the TV due to the price. With the Black Friday sale the price went down by $400 so that was nice. I got it installed the following Saturday and I instantly fell in love with my tv. It has so many features that I am still learning. My favorite so far is being able to broadcast my Spotify. I like that I was able to connect the Sony remote to my cable box so it was able to allow me to be able to access the guide ( pertaining to my cable provider). Recently my Sony remote stopped working. It froze when I was trying to access the guide and look at what was currently on TV. I tried exiting out of the guide by pressing the back button, but it remained frozen. Luckily I am still using my remote that my cable provider gave me. I used it to turn the tv off and hopefully remove the frozen guide that the TV was stuck on. This worked, but unfortunately the Sony remote isn’t working anymore right now. I haven’t changed the batteries yet, but since this Sony remote is new it is weird for it to act like this. So far this is my current issue and something I don’t like. Other than that I believe the Sony TV is great and especially great when watching animated movies.

First off let me just say WOW! Brilliant picture, super dark blacks, excellent built in audio, and a ton of features make this a great upgrade to any home viewing experience. You’ll need to tune each input for the best quality, but out in the time and research for each device and you won’t be disappointed. I use this as my primary television for my family and specifically purchased it for use with a PlayStation 4 Pro console to take advantage of the 4K and HDR features.
The Good:
Excellent for gaming consoles! I use this with a PS4 Pro, Xbox One S, PS3, and a Nintendo Switch and they all look terrific on the screen. The PS4 and Xbox are using the HDR comparable inputs and the PS3 and Switch are using the standard 4K inputs and broadcasting at 1080p.
Really good built in audio for general use. When watching with my family the TV’s built in audio is plenty loud and very crisp for voices in disc based movies or streaming content. Bass could be higher, but with no sub woofer included I didn’t expect that feature and am not disappointed in the audio performance. BONUS - due to The Android TV OS it supports Bluetooth headphones so for a more tuned audio experience you can use your ear buds or a nice set of noise canceling headphones with no added equipment and no wires.
Android TV is easy to use and very app friendly. I was able to quickly find the major apps I use for streaming and download them quickly. Huge bonus for having a built in Movies Anywhere app! This allows for use of all of my digital content (except iTunes locked films) any time. Super nice feature.
Cast support from mobile - I was pleasantly surprised with how seamless casting is from a mobile device. You get more functionality from an Android device, but I’ve had no issues with iPhone and can cast most content to the TV including YouTube and most streaming media.
The remote is really nice and has voice control for use with Google Assistant and searching within apps/the store. This is a big time saver over searching with the D-Pad and on-screen keyboard! As a bonus the TV supports Bravia Sync with other Sony products so the remote works right out of the box with Sony receivers, sound bars, and even navigating the PS4 system menu!
The Bad:
Out of the 4 available HDMI ports, only two support HDR content - this a bit misleading in my opinion since the monitor claims HDR support but in reality it is not for all inputs. Not a deal breaker, just a bummer if in the future I have more HDR supported equipment
No support for Apple AirPlay 2. This really bugs me since the model that was release just one year newer has this feature and allows for casting of all content from an Apple device including Apple TV. This can likely be fixed with a software update - but there is none to be found for this specific model. Major oversight and a big miss for me being an iOS user with a ton of film content that is locked to iTunes/Apple TV
Difficult to understand menus for color and performance for 4K HDR content. This might just be a lack of education on my part, but when using the menus to select color settings for the best possible experience I had to take a lot of time for trial and error and determining what features (motion flow, frame rate, color range, blackness, etc...) worked best for each device that was input, as well as the TV itself, for viewing content. If there was a more streamlined process to achieving the “best picture” it would have been a much nicer experience out of the box
Overall though this is a fantastic monitor and if you have high end AV input equipment like a PS4 Pro, Xbox One S/X or high resolution video players this is an absolutely terrific viewing experience. Enjoy!

I gave 5 stars because, like many others, periodically I have to restart the TV to get to the Netflix App ...... this would seem to be fixable with a sw update. I wonder why it hasn't happened yet with all the inputs itr. Otherwise, the picture quality exceeded my expectations. I am using the TV with a Sony receiver (w several other items connected) and a Harmony Remote. The univ remote doesn't do enough so I still also use the TV remote for a few special functions occasionally. The set up from Geek Squad was well worth it. Big THANK YOU to Jason. I purchased the TV with Black Friday pricing and even with the after-holiday sales, I am happy with the value. Very low glare. I purchased the 65" TV. I don't see anything on the market that beats the picture quality!!

Waited quite a while to move up to a 4K and I'm very pleased with my purchase. The picture quality is outstanding I find that even in a fairly bright room I don't feel like I have to push the settings
to their max. Reflection and glare from the screen are not a problem and off axis viewing is quite acceptable for our room. Set up was simple and intuitive. The Android based software seems better than the software on my old set although it took a while tweak it the way I wanted it. The only real negative for me is that my audio system behaves differently under Bravia Sync / CEC than the old Samsung. This may be less to do with the TV than the AV-Receiver. The biggest regret for me is that I waited so long to make the jump. Buy with confidence.

You just can’t beat Sony for a great picture, right out of the box! Couldn’t be more pleased with the colors, clarity and sharpness of this tv. As soon as I take down my 12 year old Sony and move it to the bedroom, I’ll mount this new one in its place. Totally thrilled with this purchase. 2 weeks after I purchased, Best Buy dropped the price by $200 dollars. I called them up and they were more than agreeable to credit me . Sony and Best Buy forever with me!

Nice Upgrade from Samsung PN59D6500DF

The image on this TV is unbelievable. Having upgraded from a large, heavy yet amazing heat wall of a plasma TV with absolutely no issues except energy usage and in house heat production (moved to AZ so yeah, nope), I took the leap in to 2019...well with 2018 technology. Having everything I need in the TV instead of having to cast it from my phone or from my PS4 is really nice but a lot of TVs do this these days, I was just behind the times.
I would not have upgraded if it weren't for having to permanently have my plasma TV on low all the time to keep energy consumption down but plasma TVs are excellent for gaming which I do a lot of but the market has created a platform to resell you everything you already have in order to get to 4k. This means new receiver, TV etc.
Sony has a great TV here, full array local dimming, LEDs for low power consumption...anyway it's just awesome. new to 4k content because I just dismiss all the curated content in stores you'll never get in your home watching network TV on the internet.
The OS is a bit laggy regarding menu actions but it works. It does not make me mad and its nice to have a remote with a Netflix and a Google Play connection.
I just cant believe how amazing this TV is for the price I paid. The ports are pointed down instead of out, the cable management in the legs is cool. I get an edge to edge clean picture. I knew ports 2 and 3 are full bandwidth only but if you have a receiver then you only need the 3rd ARC port.
I do not regret this purchase and enjoy everything about it EXCEPT...except how my data is collected of remote control pattern usage, content I choose to watch, assessment of devices attached to the TV and overall collection of any data just because a company feels they can. The only way around this is to disable the WiFi and run content in to the TV instead of from the TV. I don't know why google has to get closer and closer to me in my house to finally know where I go to the bathroom in order to sell data about me but they are pretty much the devil. Don't become Google Sony.
Setup was super easy and being able to add apps in to the home screen and curate the home screen to my liking is a huge huge plus for my family. A non laggy menu would be cool but as I said, no issues with the image. I'm not an elitist, I know when I see something good and don;t nit-pick it to death.

Everywhere I turn, every feature I use, impresses me. From plugging in the ARC sound bar to Google Chromecast to the beautiful picture to the settings screens, everything shouts "quality" and "well engineered". Yes, there are many OLED screens where the colors "pop" so much more, but I just couldn't chance the "burn-in" that I've seen in several stores' display units. Extremely satisfied with the purchase even though it's ostensibly "last year's model". Particularly so, now that the price has become much more reasonable. Very pleased with this purchase.

Originally went to BB to just get a quick and dirty TV to throw up on the wall as my older Samsung was getting moved to a different room. After discussing options with the staff I realized that there was benefit in spending a little more to get a much better viewing experience. I have to say that I left the store feeling more educated about the differences in TVs (it can feel very overwhelming and confusing) and exactly what they told me at the store is exactly what I'm experiencing at home. The blacks are really nice, sports look awesome and there's no weird lag or situation where a character in a show looks like they're a paper cutout. Very happy, only wish is that I bought the one size up.

Overall very satisfied with this purchase. The overall picture quality is top notch and worth the money. 4K looks great. I would recommend watching Blue Planet in 4k to truly see how great the picture quality can be. The only knock on this TV (and I'm not lowering a star for it) is the Operating System. Settings, and to some extent Apps can be cumbersome to operate. A great example is trying to change the picture from standard to game. They are on opposite sides of the pick list and you have to scroll through all of the 7 or 8 modes to get from standard to game. Need the option to customize this list and others in the settings. Aside from the clunky OS, all around great TV and great picture.

Took some time to solve the random turn-on

Got this tv during the Black Friday sales and have been using it for about two months now. It replaces a Pioneer Plasma that we've had for over a decade. The wife was questioning the need to replace our set but once she saw the picture all questions stopped. This tv really does have an amazing picture. Running Android also allowed me to easily add Amazon Prime, Tubi, and install Kodi to play my own videos from our home server. The real challenge was in figuring out why the tv would turn on by itself at random times, mostly at night and typically every few days. I contacted Sony and they gave me a standard script to follow (reset, restore to factory conditions, etc.). I did all of that and it still kept coming on randomly. I then tried disabling CEC control, disconnected anything on the network that might turn it on (other Android devices). Still kept doing it. Finally I went into all the apps to see what permissions existed. I found that Google maps was given permission to find my location by connecting to the router. I disabled this permission and the system has not turned itself on since (8 days, a record). This might be the fix. This app permission is set by default and if it turns out to be the source of the problem, Sony needs to fix it. If this random turn-on issue is truly resolved I would not hesitate to recommend this tv. If the problem persists I will update this review. For now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is gone.

Bought the 65 inch X900F during the holidays for $1100. Great 4K picture. Originally purchased a Samsung 8 series 65 inch but immediately returned it the same day because the picture quality was straight garbage. I almost bought the Samsung Q7 but I felt the Sony had much better colors although the Samsung contrast seems higher. In hindsight I wish I bought the Sony 950G for $300 more because I believe sports are a little better with the new chip in the 950G. Overall for $1100 I'm very happy with the TV.

We were looking at Samsung QLED and LG OLED TV's, and our salesperson showed us this Sony Bravia TV. The picture looked just as good as the others. We spent a fair amount of time comparing the three TV's, and found the picture clarity from front and off-center viewing so close that it was hard to choose a "winner". The other two had more color saturation, but the Sony seemed more "natural". The final selling point for us was the Sony was significantly cheaper!

I've been looking to upgrade to a 4K TV for quite some time and finally decided to make the move after replacing my original Xbox One with a One X. Have been in to look at previous models of this TV in years past and was always impressed with the picture quality and clarity. For the price, this TV cannot be beat. I had contemplated taking a step up to an OLED display, but the fear of burn in and the significant cost difference secured the deal for me. Bought later in the year and got several hundred dollars off as well. Highly recommend if you want a quality 4K display from a top brand. Xbox and Roku streaming in 4K (Planet Earth is breathtaking!) are perfect.

I researched LED Tv’s for a long time and we settled on this one. This was the step up from the last 900 model and had quite a few improvements to it since.
It has an amazing picture for the money(it’s not cheap but not as expensive as the new ones out by Sony).
My husband would not pay over 2500 for a new tv. The newest Sony’s are $4k. We don’t care to pay an extra $2k to have the newest. This is perfect for our family and Sony makes high quality products. We would only go with Panasonic or Sony and possibly sharp. We will NOT BUY LG Samsung any of the other brands. Their not reliable (speaking from experience).
if you’re looking for an amazing LED this is the one!
