I had a miniLED from a bargain brand that developed an issue with reboots from the latest ROKU update, and could not get any support from the company, and returned the TV. A great associate at my local Best Buy showed me the X950H and explained it was the top of the line LCD from 2020. I explained I did not game on my TV, and so we settled on this rather than the newer TV with HDMI 2.1 ports. This TV is amazing. I have an OLED in the bedroom, and the picture quality of this TV is on par with the OLED, with only the slightest amount of blooming along the black letterbox bars on HDR material with bright highlights right against the bar. Since I watch a LOT of live news, I did not want to risk an OLED even with their logo dimming software, as burn in was not covered in the OLED warranty. The X950H has the best picture I have seen from any QLED so far. SDR brightness and highlights were just as bright as my miniLED was, and HDR pops. Very happy with both the TV and the associate in the North Little Rock store that sold it to me. The Android TV operating system is much more reliable that RokuTV, in my opinion. Very knowledgeable and went beyond the call of duty to rectify a BB computer error that would not allow a delivery to be set up.

      Hi DaveNLR,

Great! We're glad that you are enjoying the picture quality and Android features of the TV. We always strive to deliver the best picture quality with our TVs. The X950H’s Full Array Local Dimming and Boosting technology provides a dramatic increase in contrast and brightness from anywhere in the room thanks to X-Wide Angle technology that is now offered in additional screen sizes (except 49”). The X1 Ultimate Processor, Sony’s best processor to date, delivers a picture with ultimate realism and upscales everything you watch to near-4K HDR. Thanks for choosing Sony!

After a ton of research I decided on the 65X950H. The Black Friday price made it an easier decision. Living with it for a few weeks now, I have to say I'm BLOWN AWAY by the image quality! The X1 image processor does an amazing job of making everything look fantastic. The upscaling is so good that it is hard to tell if it's native 4K or not. I was looking for an OLED originally, but scared by poor brightness in well lit rooms (as mine is). The bright room performance is awesome! The maximum brightness of this screen is responsible for outstanding HDR as well. The addition of bias lighting has only reinforced the viewing pleasure (see pic). I have NO DOUBT I got the right set!

Back story - I had purchased a 65" LG NanoCell 90 to replace the 55" Samsung HD in my den, but in spite of the upgrade from 2K to 4K, I just wasn't wowed by the LG's picture and decided to spend a little more $$$ for the Sony X900H, which the Magnolia salesperson had encouraged me to buy rather than the LG. But then, as I read reviews, I decided the X950H would probably be an even better choice, even though I'd now be spending significantly more than what I'd paid for the LG. I held my breath and decided to just go for it. Man, am I glad I did! The picture on the X950 really shines, not just for HDR, but particularly for upscaled (i.e. not 4K) content. Short of an OLED set (which was well beyond my budget), picture quality doesn't get much better than the X950H, and I haven't even calibrated it! On the downside, I wish this TV had a built-in ATSC 3.0 tuner like the X900H does, and I wish it had a center stand (to better fit our current setup), but I was able to get a good stand to make it work and we can buy an external tuner when ATSC 3.0 becomes available where I live. Beyond that, I can't say enough good things. Is it worth hundreds more than the LG or even the X900H? That's an individual choice, but given that my wife and I stream movies or TV almost every day, this was extra money spent that I don't regret at all.

This TV was very easy to set up. The menu walks you through everything and it automatically detects the components you attach into the HDMI ports. The picture quality is outstanding, and after looking at a number of options including Samsung QLED models this model offers much richer darks. I highly recommend this model for the good mix of ease of setup, picture performance, and price point.

Purchased this TV after a lot of online research and was not disappointed. This is without question the best picture I've ever seen on a television. I previously watched a 60" 2014 mid-range Vizio LED, max resolution 1080p. We sit about 15 feet from the screen and I had been slow to upgrade to 4k because I didn't think the additional resolution would be visible at our viewing distance. Boy, was I wrong. It may be true that the difference between standard HD and 4k is mild depending on your viewing distance, but the benefits of more accurate color and UHD/Dolby Vision are startling. My receiver won't pass through 4k, so I send 5.1 DD sound to it via the TV's optical output. Fortunately my 4k Blu-ray player offers two HDMI outputs, so I send one to the TV and the other to my receiver in order to hear the uncompressed Dolby and DTS soundtracks on Blu-ray discs. (no lip synch issues, thankfully). We're watching everything at home these days, since going to the theater is out of the question, and although you can't replace the experience of going to a high-quality cinema, pairing this screen with good amplification and speakers gets awfully close. I'm not a TV gamer, so I can't comment on input lag, but I understand this isn't a good choice if that's important to you. For anyone looking for a sublime movie and television watching experience, don't hesitate to purchase this set.

Have had the TV about 6 weeks now, and the whole family loves it. I have owned Sony TVs for over 20 years and this one so far is meeting all my expectations of Sony quality. I did a ton of research before this purchase. There are many cheaper options and bigger tvs for the same or less money. But when it came down to it, I came back to this Sony for the quality. Picture is excellent. Dark blacks and vivid colors. The menus, settings, and remote control are all easy to navigate. Remote is nice and feels good in your hand. Sports, movies, and video games look great on this tv. Sound is acceptable, will upgrade with a soundbar in the near future.

I bought the Sony X950H 65" (XBR65X950H) for the living room and the 55" (XBR55X950H) for the master bedroom after doing extensive research on Sony vs. Samsung. I chose Sony and particularly the X950H because of its emphasis on contrast, prevalence of Dolby Vision, and its adoption of Google technology (e.g., Google Assistant). The contrast has lived up to my expectations, and the Android TV platform is just fine. I did not buy a sound bar or external speakers, as 1.) either room was not very big and 2.) I wanted to achieve a cleaner, simpler look (see the accompanying picture of the 65" in the living room). Sound could be a bit weak when the TV is fully angled to the left or to the right, but overall I am satisfied with the depth and quality of sound. I am planning to buy a third TV in 2021. The only reason I would not buy another X950H is to have more variety, but I probably will go with another Sony.

I have always bought Vizio TV, and went in to Best Buy’s to get a Vizio. They did not have the one I wanted so a browsed around and this Sony X95OH was on display, and I was hooked. The picture was better than the LG OLED that was playing next to it. Brought it home, set it up and did not even have to adjust it at all. Only complaint I have are the legs which are wide and prevents the TV being placed closer to the wall. Not a deal breaker and I noticed all the TV’s I looked at had the same design of legs. Bottom line beautiful picture, easy programming, love it.

Awesome quality and such vivid colors. I have a bright living room and the sunlight does not affect the quality of picture and the glare of light on the screen is minimal. I upgraded from a Vizio LED and the family and I are amazed with the picture and colors when we watch our movies and tv shows. Setup was truly easy and painless and the Android platform is identical to the firestick tv so the transition was painless.

This LCD TV is a great value and overal has much to offer at its price point. The screen itself has a nice matte finish to it. Which I found to be very effective for antiglare purposes. No hot spots and nice even lighting throughout the screen. The brightness was great as well and never found myself having issue in my somewhat bright room. The andriod smart functions were easy to use and navigate. Also Sony did a great job of the system OSD settings. Selecting inputs, audio and picture modes are supper eaay to access via the Sony remote. The TV played well over eArch to my Denon reciever and integration was very easy to pull off. Ultimately I ended up returning this TV. Although wasn't because of what you might think or might care about. Sony announced that this TV would not be receiving the HDMI 2.1 firmware update. However the model below 900h would be. The other reason was the overall bulky appearance of the TV. With its heavy frame and thick back, didn't provide the sleek look that my wife would approve of. Yes I know the backlight of the TV which provides the nice even lighting source was in part to blame for this. The upside OLED became a very apparent favorite and ultimately the direction we went.

I am very happy with my purchase. This tv does it all. Broadcast, cable , Streaming, gaming and does essentially well with my Sony UHD player. I waited a long time for technology to reach this point. Sony offers many models , both more and less expensive. The lesser models don’t have the picture quality that I was looking for and the more expensive models just weren’t affordable. The geek squad guys delivered and mounted my tv. They cost too much and would be difficult for the homeowner to handle. Reasonable prices and great service. If you have been waiting to purchase a smart UHD tv , your time has come

Sound cutting / dropping out randomly

I've spent 2.5 hours on support with Sony about the sound dropping out (cutting out) when watching movies purchased through the Google Play Movies and TV App (movie example: I Still Believe), and they say this is the first they have heard of it. But it's all over the internet if you search for it. I wish I had known. It was also an issue with the 2019 X950G and wasn't fixed on that model, and apparently hasn't been fixed on the 2020 X950H model either. It's not doing it while using Netflix or Amazon, so therefore Sony told me it's not their TV issue, and that I should go talk to Google, as it's their app that appears to be causing the issue. I told them it's not the consumers issue to resolve, it's between Sony and Google, and I'm not getting into a back and forth between Sony and Google, as my return period runs out and I'm stuck with a $1,800 TV with sound issues. I really love the TV, the picture is amazing (65" with X-Wide Angle viewing), super fast Android platform, but I can't see keeping this TV with this issue as it was $$... I upgraded from a 2015 Samsung UN65JU6500 and that tv NEVER had any issues with sound cutting out, and we watched 1,000's of movies that were purchased from the Google Play Movies and TV App. Unfortunately the IU was getting slow on that TV, so I chose to "upgrade". We have always been a Sony family, the Samsung was an exception, but I can't believe Sony hasn't fixed this issue yet (since the 2019 model). I'm not so sure Sony is the same quality company they were in the past. I understand this isn't their flagship TV, but it is their top of the line LCD/LED 4K model, with all the best they offer for this model line before they switch to the OLED line. It's unfortunate. Maybe I just got a dud, along with 1000's of others who purchased the 2019 model (G). I can't wait around to see if they are going to send out an update to fix this issue, as their track record (judging by the 2019 model still having this issue) tells me they are not going to fix the issue. Buyer beware!!!! You've been warned, there is an issue with the sound cutting out when watching movies purchased through the Google Play Movies and TV App. Some individuals are also reporting the issue while using eARC and using other services (Apps), but I haven't checked those sources, so I can't verify that. But I know what my TV is doing - it's sound is cutting out for a split second randomly, sometimes it goes 2 minutes, sometimes it's 30 seconds - but it's happening.

      Hi WasSonyFamily,

Thank you for purchasing the Sony X950H 4K HDR TV.

We are glad to hear you enjoy the overall picture quality, X-Wide Angle and snappy performance of the TV, but are deeply disappointed to hear that you are experiencing intermittent sound issues with the Google Play Movies & TV app.

Since you have encountered issues while watching streaming apps like freezing, unresponsiveness or in this case, sound, you may follow these steps to help isolate the issue. Install all pending updates from the Google Play Store. On the HOME menu, scroll down to Apps, and select Google Play Store. Go to My Apps and install all pending updates. After all the Apps are updated, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to reboot the TV. Please also try clearing data and clearing cache. Press APPS button on the remote. Scroll down to the applicable app and hold down the Select button for 3 seconds. Scroll down and select Info button. Scroll down to select Clear data. Select OK. Then, select Clear cache. Select OK. If the issue still occurs, please perform a factory data reset.

If the issue persists, please email the below information to Sony E-support that you can find at www.sony.com.

I was using a standard led tv before, So to watch in day I have to cover my windows with curtains during day time. But I was astonished to see Sony's performance. My living room is bright with the direct sun light coming right under the tv but Sony outperform here. And I love the size factor. For audio part i don't like stock audio, I am using a sound bar for that.

The 65” Sony is impressive. The Geek home installation by two experienced and efficient techs was terrific. Especially appreciated the way they hid all wires and optimized/synchronized the tv and cable remotes that were awkward to use on my self installed prior Sony 55”. Bottom line very satisfied and wouldn’t change a thing.

This TV is fantastic. Using it mainly for sports it really does well in a room with a lot of glare thanks to the high brightness it can hit. Refesh rate is also great and you can really tell a difference between other TVs. Sound is a little bit lacking for the quality but i plan on purchasing a mountable sound bar.
