    Best TV Out There

I went into the store ready to finish my Man Cave with a projector and screen. However, my wife saw the 65in display of this TV and instantly loved the clarity. I quickly agreed and we opted for the 75in version because we only wanted to do this once. The sales guy was awesome and made sure I received interest free for three years! Also the next day the store price matched RC Wiley and I saved an extra $500. The TV is amazing and I am in awe every time I watch a movie on it. It makes me want to watch every movie I have ever seen. Combined with a Blu-ray player, you won't be disappointed. What about TV, well watching football on it is an experience all its own. There isnt a clearer picture and greater experience I assure you. Super Bowl party at our house for sure. There are lots of apps on it too. We like to watch 4K videos on YouTube. Our kids were screaming in joy while watching first person view of 4K roller coaster videos. My advice, get one. More advice, definitely have the Geek Squad mount it on the wall and set it up for you. They guys did a great job tweaking the TV and surround to get the best out of both.

This TV has such a beautiful picture, it's like being there. When the scenes change and the screen goes blank, it goes BLACK! No gray screen between scenes. The ACTION MENU is fabulous for watching Football - the colors are so vivid! We are VERY HAPPY with this purchase!

The best TV I've had thus far and Sony is the best brand on the market. Will get the 85" soon and place this one in the bedroom.

Spent a long time doing my homework when looking to replace my prior 55" HD set with a State Of The Art 75" 4k UHD HDR display. Since getting my new Sony XBR75-X940D I feel it has lived up to all the positive reviews I had read and more. Got a new Samsung UBD-K8500 4k UHD bluray player and a handful of 4k movies at Best Buy to compliment it. Picture quality is amazing, the best I have ever viewed. Also kudo's go out to the Geek Squad dudes that delivered and set up the TV for me. Fast, efficient and knowledgeable in their work. I've purchased a number of components from BB including my prior Sony TV and have never been disappointed with them.

75" with full array LED quality! Came with free delivery, fee wall mount bracket and free installation and setup. Together, these cost $400+ and it helped to justify the extra $$ for the premium XBR 940. Be cautious about Geek Squad installation! Scheduled appointment and received a consultation call before delivery. What started as a free service quickly adds up with cables and extra fees. $150 to hide the wiring in the wall. $100 per "Monster" HDMI cable that's in-wall rated. Multiply that by 4 inputs, etc... Opted to just have the tv delivered and did the mount myself.

I had a 55" LED/LCD set that went bad (all of the HDMI inputs stopped working) after about five years. Although I was actually able to repair the set myself, I just wasn't confident that the fix would last and decided to move back to Sony XBR Bravia for a replacement set. I ultimately chose the 940D over any of the others because it was the lowest price point where I could get a FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) panel. The screen size was sort of a "bonus" for me since it isn't available in smaller sizes. Fortunately, I have plenty of room to accommodate this size screen. The picture quality is both its best feature and its biggest downfall. When you drive this set with a very high quality image (4K w/ HDR), it's absolutely fantastic. Blacks are deep and solid with zero inconsistency and the colors are bright and vibrant. 1080i images are also excellent (if you're viewing from BluRay or other sources that are true HD). The problem with picture quality comes in when you're viewing less than optimal images from older or poorly mastered sources, even on DVD. Remember when you got your first HD set and tried watching broadcast cable? And you realized just how grainy and "rough" the images were because your (then) new set showed all of the defects very clearly? That's sort of what you get with this UHD quality set showing DVD's that were mastered at 480p quality. You start to realize that even movies and shows that you had thought previously to have very good picture quality are the new "so-so" in your eyes. PROS: Screen size, image quality, four HDMI inputs, optical audio out, lots of configurability CONS: Android operating system (I don't need another tablet or smartphone with a zillion apps and access to my email - it's another case of "bloatware"), lack of clean menus, hard to navigate areas of the menus (checking for a firmware update is in the "About" section of the menus... ???), "key" configuration options are missing (like deciding whether or not you want the volume bar on the TV to display or not in some situations). This is a VERY heavy and unwieldy set. Putting it on the wall is a great option, but make sure that you have help to do it. Get all of your cabling figured out before you hang it because you likely won't have an easy time reaching the connectors on the back once it's on the wall. And, because of its weight, I would personally recommend you use either a completely fixed mount or one with minimal tilt. Definitely do not use a mount that allows you to pull this set out from the wall because it will put a ridiculous amount of stress on the mounting bracket and the wall itself. I would absolutely recommend this set if you have the means to afford it. The Z9 (one step up) does not seem to really offer anything perceptible in quality and is more than double the price.

This TV is MUCH improved over last years 940D which I went through 3 of due to ghosting/smearing issues, as well as horizontal banding on certain colors. This TV has no issues like that and is near perfect. This TV is much brighter and vibrant than the 940D as well with great blacks. If you dont want to pay 15k+ for a similar sized OLED, this is probably the best option out there.

Huge TV worth every penny, the color and blacks are beyond any set i've seen. Does best in lower lighting but more than bright enough to compete with ambient lighting. Some early software issues with ARC but should be resolved with future updates.

The Case for a '6K' TV

First off: I'm a lifelong technology snob; I rarely regret paying up for bleeding edge tech. Kudos, though, to Best Buy's 'Sony Guy' for making a strong case for less expensive options. While I was initially going to go for the 930D, the extra 10" was too attractive to pass up. I have a very bright viewing area; black levels are critical. The 940D did not disappoint. Want to watch GOT on a sunny afternoon? Not a problem. Additionally, colors absolutely 'pop' (I'd like to thank my Geek Squad guys for dialing in the initial settings). Olympic coverage from Rio made clear that this set does a very good job of balancing color accuracy with 'speed'. Ditto for watching NFL preseason games last night. I don't think OLED does as well in this regard. Operationally the set is very intuitive. The remote is very clean; the Android TV interface is very straight forward. Integration with Wi-Fi and existing Apps is very easy. I have yet to view 4K content or 3D material (glasses not included); I'll defer to other reviewers on these points. I do plan on having the set calibrated after a few hundred hours of use. As-is, though, I am extremely satisfied.

I was looking for a larger TV when we moved into our new home. I was a little worried because while working for a one of the large tv providers I have noticed in people's homes that larger TVs tend to not have as good of picture as TVs in the 55 inch range. I knew I had to do my research before purchasing a tv. I was originally looking at the 850 version but the full array backlighting is what made me decide to spend the extra money. Your not going to buy a TV every day so when you do make sure you get the right TV. The 940D is a great addition to the home and I don't notice the motion blur like TVs I have seen in other people's homes. You get what you pay for and I fell I have gotten every penny's worth. In fact Best Buy even gave me $200 back when the price dropped a few weeks later. The only TV I would suggest over this one is the Z series. But I don't buy a TV once in a lifetime so I went with this one. Maybe next time.

Great picture with full HDR 4K Blu Rays. More importantly it up scales better than anything I have seen. I look for months and was torn between this an the OLED. If we are talking 4K HDR signal I think the OLED beat the Sony picture by 5% or less. We are talking negligible. If you input anything lower than a 4K though the Sony far outshines the OLED. While the OLED seems to amplify the image imperfections, the Sony makes the image look crisp and motion is smooth. Would highly recommend this product.

I bought this TV after waiting for more than two years for the right model. I had another Sony that I bought in 2010 and works perfectly and has great image. That is why I decided for Sony again. The image is excellent. Great definition and great colors. very easy to install. I did not used the wall mount because I have a speakers and a Center Channel. At the very beginning when I turned it on, it looked weird, but then it warmed up and now it looks very bright with great color and image definition every time.

This is an awesome TV! I love that Android TV and Chromecast capability is built in. The colors are bright and the TV will upscale other HD formats and make everything look better. The menus are easy to understand and use, the remote has voice control and it's a smart TV too. It would have been nice to have a set of 3D glasses included. I didn't use the mount that was included and was unable to return it for credit. It was nice to have Geek Squad mounting included, but all they had to do for me was hang the TV on my existing mount. The TV mounts closer to the bottom of the set instead of the middle, which will make it sit higher on your mount

CRISP, Remarkable, and out classes the rest. True; Samsung is a top notch product and I have the 55 inch with no issues for 4 years: however, the new HD programming within the Sony 75 inch TV leaves NOTHING to be desired for picture quality across the entire surface............ and has well above average sound. Intuitive and easy to switch between devices. NOTE: This is a heavy unit and makes me think twice about a wall mount.

A big jump up from the XBR65x930d

I bought the XBR65x930d first, and had problems with it. Returned it and got this 75x940d instead. Didn't think I could afford it at first, but after having seen both, I'm really glad I made the jump. The full back-light array makes a big difference as does the larger screen size. I'm very pleased. I have one problem with the TV. I split my bluray input into two streams, video to the TV, audio to my stereo. When the TV is in eco-mode (turns off after 15 minutes of inactivity), and I play a bluray in this configuration, it does not detect activity and turns itself off every 15 minutes. I just turned off the eco-mode settings off to fix this problem. My only negative comment on an otherwise GREAT tv. Highly recommend you purchase from a store that you can return it to in case of problems, as my 65" had some fatal flaws, and I'm very happy I didn't have to get stuck with it, waiting for Sony to try and fix it with year-old refurbished parts!

My previous tv was a 60 in Panasonic Plasma, so my expectations were pretty high. The colors on this Sony are beautiful, and bright. The full array local dimming creates some impressive blacks, but as with any LED tv, blooming is present, and there is a purple cast around whites against a black screen. That being said, this TV handles motion well, and does a great job of upscaling 720 and even 480 content. 1080 content looks beautiful, and 4K is breath taking. This Sony is not perfect, but it is a very good tv, and compares well to the Samsung KS9000, which costs about $2000 more.
