I did 5 months research on this purchase and decided on two factors....price and features. The equivalent Samsung was more money with brightness being the difference. This TV is plenty bright in a well lit room, in fact, I have to dim it down. Colors are fantastic and the up scaling, while not perfect, is really good.

Got a preview of the XBR75X940D at Best Buy and compared the video against the OLED with 4K source playing and it was hard to tell the difference. The clarity of the Sony was just incredible and when you compare the cost you just can't get a better deal for your money. The voice control of remote is excellent. I also bought the HT-NT5 Sony Soundbar with their rear speakers and am extremely happy with the purchase. It is easy to set up just following the on screen instructions. Geek Squad installed the wall mount and TV and did a great job and made sure all packaging materials were removed from the premise and all debris from drilling holes for mounting hardware was vacuumed up during the installation process. Francis was the lead and can't say enough about his professionalism and attention to detail. Got this television during a great sale in early December 2016 and prior to the end of the month the price dropped another $200 for a special weekend sale. Took my receipt to Best Buy in Melbourne and they refunded me the difference without question. If you are having problems deciding between the 65 inch or the 75 inch, go with the 75 inch, you will not regret. I've been a fan of Sony for many years and can tell you based on my experience the quality and reliability can not be beat. Best Buy also provided the best price when I was comparing to the others and I like the idea they are local so if you have any problems you can deal with them directly.

I have had Samsung HD TV's for the last 8 years, and my last Sony HD, to me, did not have the clarity or the sharpness of the Samsung display. So when I decided it was time to upgrade to a 4K, I researched the Samsungs ad nauseum. I saw a Black Friday deal at a Warehouse chain, but decided to go into Best Buy to see if they had a similar deal on a Samsung. After talking to a BB salesman my wife saw the Sony 940D and asked about it, and the salesman said for the price range we were looking at this TV was a better TV than the Samsung. After more research I decided to go with the Sony, and am I ever glad I did. The picture if beautiful and the color is spectacular and vivid. The ability to upscale standard HD content is remarkable. Most, if not all, cable provide broadcast at 1080i, but the picture on this screen is crystal clear. I couldn't be happier with this purchase and look forward to enjoying it for many years. Once last thing, the Geek Squad installation was spot on! They worked with me to set up the TV on my wall mount and then connected all my peripherals and configured it to their recommended settings. I've since made some minor adjustments, but for the most part I've left it the same. The guys were great and I highly recommend this service. Overall, I couldn't be happier!

Did a ton of research before I purchased. Coming from a Plasma tv background I'm very particular about what I'm looking for in a display. I was looking for a 75 inch that was able to produce a real world picture, not exaggerated color. This TV has some of the best black levels I've seen in a long time. The only thing that compares is OLED's infinite black. I've had it calibrated by a local well respected calibrator and the picture is stunning. 4k UHD blu-rays look phenomenal with HDR. My advice is this, if you like bright eye popping colors buy a Samsung. If you prefer your tv viewing to be like looking out your window at the real world buy the Sony. At this level both brands make great tv's, just do your homework before you buy so you'll know what to expect.

Beautiful picture, great features. HDR, 4K looks good. Xbox 1 x looks great.

I've had a great time learning all the features of this TV. The Apps are great and I was able to easily output my 5.1 Audio through an optical cable from the TV to my older Marantz amplifier with great success. I currently have both Comcast and DirecTV connected and they both work great. I have an older Sony DVD player/recorder that this TV upscales with excellent results. Old DVDs have new life. Looking forward to getting a 4K DVD next. 4K is noticeably better than 1080. Looking forward to getting access to more 4K content. Even the 3D capability had me ducking when items were coming at me. Great fun. This is a 75". My previous was a 60" The extra size is definitely worth the extra cost. Also, BestBuy did a great job with setup and configuration.

I have 3 Sony tvs, all 3d and 2 are 4k. I had decided to check out other brands this time because I was angry that my first ultra expensive future proof 65 inch 4k tv was left unsupported by Sony and could not get 4k streaming or through the HDMI port because both did not meet the "new" standards and had no way to update the software or hardware. After searching everywhere and comparing every brand, the only one that looked better was OLED, which is way overpriced. I am very happy with this product and it does support all of the newest tech and maintains one of the best pictures available.

Excellent TV. Blacks are like staring into a black hole. At first I had this on a stand and then switched it to wall mounted and it looks even better on the wall. Has all the inputs you would ever need for hdmi, USB, etc. Honestly this TV is on par with OLED and it is the best 75'' TV for the price out there. With the 940E about to come out, I see another price drop on this coming soon. For 3800 this TV is a bargain.

Debated Sony 940 vs oled for a long time. Read all the reviews. Decided to go with bigger size Sony. Up scaling is also better on non 4K material compared to lg oled. I'm going from a 60 inch plasma and I'm very satisfied with the black levels with the Sony. Overall best value for picture size unless you want to spend 20k for 77 inch oled.

Sony did a good job pricing this tv verses what Samsung did. The full array gives a very bright and clear picture. The darks are very good as well. If you don't have a surround sound system this tv has very good quality speakers. Good apps and voice controlled remote.

This monster is awesome. We replaced an older Pioneer Plasma with this one and so glad we did. As it is still hard to beat the old plasma technology. The Sony TV is beautiful. The blacks are deep and we don't notice any ghosting. It is great for action movies as well as sports. Waited quite awhile for the price to come down, but don't let the fact that it is the mid-tier Sony TV be a distraction. Liked it over the competition and did not want a curved TV. No regrets. If you are waiting like I was, stop and go get it.

this tv has a grate pitcher with full back lighting and the color is grate to I'm very happy with it

This is the most detailed tv that I have ever seen. It reaches the blackest blacks and has the most vibrant color that I could have ever asked for. It is so detailed and the android TV built in just works well with everything that I have used with it. I can't imagine needing to upgrade this tv in years. The last tv I had was 52 inch Sharp TV before that doesn't even compare to this tv. Probably also because it was 10 years old or so.

The black levels , vivid colors, and brightness is fantastic. 4K video is amazing looking and easily accessible via Netflix and Youtube. I looked at all the current high end 65"-78" TV's and this was the best looking to me - no regrets at all.

i have been wanting to replace my KURO Elite plasma with a larger screen for several years, but up until now there wasn't a display that could meet my requirements. I wanted: 1) A natural-looking picture; 2) Eye-popping colors; and 3) Amazing Black Levels with good Shadow Details. Well, I have finally found my "dream TV" with the Sony XBR75X940D! With the right settings the pictures looks as natural as a plasma, the colors have even more POP than my KURO, and the blacks are stunning (with my KURO my "black bars" would turn to "gray bars" during very dark scenes...with the 940D they remain PITCH BLACK). I could go on and on singing the praises of this display, for it offers excellent clarity and superb depth. And what really convinced me to get it was its reputable up-scaling ability. Whether it's 1080i satellite broadcasts or 1080P Blu-rays, the processor takes it to another level (certainly not 4K, but close to it). I am one Happy Camper!!

I spent a lot of time deciding on which TV to purchase before pulling the trigger on the 75 940d. I was considering the LG OLEDs but really wanted a 75in screen. I have been watching the price drop since last spring when it first came out. For those who don't know that's when all the new TVs come out and are at there highest price. This was a $7000.00 TV that I waited until January and got it for $3798.00. Best Buy also included delivery, the wall mount, and the hanging of the TV. Right out of the box the picture looked great but I made a few adjustments in the settings and could not be happier. I suggest researching online such as Google or YouTube to understand how to do this, it's not hard. Everyone has a different idea on what they like as far as the ideal picture should look like. I have DIRECTV which has several dedicated 4K channels and it looks unbelievable! It does a nice job of up converting a 720 or 1080 signal to near 4K quality. Some channels are better than others. YouTube offers some really nice 4K viewing and also I must say the 3D looks amazing! Very Happy, Best Buy was great to work with. Thank You,

We have had this TV for a little over a month now an have been very pleased with the quality of the picture and the features that the Android TV has to offer. The picture quality is far above expectations, especially the black levels. The Soap Opera effect with the new 4K TVs can be adjusted by manipulating some settings.

We replaced a 73 inch projection television which was just a few years old and worked well. The picture provided by the Sony X940D television is superior in every way. Colors pop, the picture is bright and very natural looking. Sound quality would benefit with a sound bar (our next purchase) however. We did a lot of research prior to selecting this product, not to mention several trips to Best Buy to compare.

Let me start by saying WOW!!! The TV looked great in the store. I was concerned how it would look when I got home and hooked it to the dish that is not 4K. I could not be more pleased with the result. It's a huge TV but the HD input still looks great. I watched a standard DVD on the 4K Blu Ray player I purchased with it and obviously the quality was not as good as the HD, but still watchable. Then I put the a Blu Ray in and ... well.. WOW!!! that is all I can say. The colors just pop. Then I put the 3D glasses on and threw in a 3d Blu Ray and... well... WOW!!! and 3D WOW!!! You got to get one of these. And in my man cave this TV looks as big as a theater screen. You have to get one of these!!!
