I initially had a 48" LG OLED for my Series X in my game room which opened my eyes to how amazing the OLED tvs are. I wanted to replace out TCL LED TV in the living room with an OLED and decided on the Sony A80j. Pros: - A+ Picture Quality - Great for Gaming ESPECIALLY PS5! - VRR - 4K HDR Dolby Vision - PERFECT Blacks - NO backlight glow - NO panel clouding - Quick Response - Great additional built in features (Live Color Super Sampling) - Handles Reflections well - Gets bright Cons: - NOT for a VERY bright room with no way to control the light - Google TV is mediocre at best and sometimes sluggish (We use a Roku in place) I did a bunch of review diving online and YouTube and landed on the A80j. The main purpose of the TV was to be in the living room and be used for primarily Movies and TV with a secondary use being for the PS5. In conclusion of my research I realized that the A80j was better than the LG CX for Movies... Also a better option if you were using it with the PS5 since it is Sony and has an even better handshake with the console than a Xbox would. I also went forward with it for gaming since I knew that it would get VRR at a later date which it did. The picture is top notch and there is nothing better than OLED in my opinion. The only drawbacks would be if your room it is in in VERY bright. Like a room with many windows but no curtains or blinds. Ours is in our living room that has 3 windows that the tv faces (with blinds and curtains) as well as 2 windows in our kitchen (with blinds). I have zero complaints about the brightness. It also handles reflections very well imo. When you are sitting in just the right spot on the catch at the right time you can get some sun reflection through the blinds in the kitchen but it is really minimized with the type of finish the screen has. Games and movies look beautiful on this panel! It can output 120hz for gaming as well and looks great doing it! Do not be afraid to experiment with the additional features built inside of this TV. Sony is one of the best in the industry. Find a good baseline of what to have on and off online and tweak from there. You will be floored with the quality and clarity of this TV and never want to go back from an OLED. People worry about burn in but I think they WAY over think it. I have 2 OLEDs and have not been worried at all about it. Be smart... Don't leave it on a static screen forever. There is Pixel Shift, screen savers etc built into all the newer OLEDs!

If you love Oled and its characteristics, then you'll love this model. I previously was an LG C1 (65")user and that panel is phenomenal! There was an unfortunate accident with the C1 and put me back on the market for a new tv. I tried out the Sony A80J(65") but I hated the matte screen due to its aggressive visual muting (hard to describe). I then for other reasons decided to move to 77". I wanted the new ATSC 3.0 functionality and Sony is the only one that carries it so far. Since this 77" has a glossy instead of matte coating, it really shines. Picture quality is top notch. Gaming on the C1 is slightly better but the Sony A80J is no slouch. You cannot go wrong with the A80J or the C1 but I choose this one out of my prefernce.

There is Bravia then there is MEGA Bravia with OLED. This Sony - 77" Class BRAVIA XR A80J Series OLED 4K just really out performs in every way. The color res, the black vs white color rendition, the performance with refresh etc. This unit is the king of big screen tv. I have purchased SONY since 1978 and this generation has just outperformed visually. The TV has great streaming access via the Android OS system on it and with watching NETFLIX or YouTubeTV it out performs itself in every way. 4K is stunning. I use Presonus self powered speakers from the headphone out (variable output) and It just blows me away with the quality. I really recommend this TV.

Sony has upped its game with this TV. See it to believe it. Pros: 1. PQ is a 10/10 at the least. 2. Upscaling is another 10/10. 3. Sound from tv is amazingly good, but obviously can’t beat a dedicated speaker. 4. Google tv interface and settings are easy to operate. 5. Bravia core is an amazing free app which changes streaming forever. 6. Build quality is superb. 7. 3 way stand is a welcome feature for soundbar placement or a narrow stand. 8. The tv gets bright enough for a well lot room as long as the tv is not directly facing the sun. Cons: 1. Only 2 hdmi 2.1 ports: A big downside for gamers 2. No VRR support at this moment which is another big issue for hardcode gamers. 3. The EARC implementation is buggy. A lot of audio dropouts and also the consumption/passthrough of lossless PCM transmission(from apple tv ) is really bad. Worth mentioning: the 55” and 65” model has a matte finish screen where as the 77” tv has a traditional Glossy screen. In dark rooms both perform equally well but in a well lit room, i feel the matte finish somehow appears blue and reflects light more from sides making the screen image look dimmer. The glossy one performs well even a well lit room.

I went to the store with this TV in mind, but I looked at some other high quality TVs too. I seriously considered a Sony LED TV, the price difference was maybe $700 less and the LED had a surprisingly wide viewing angle. However, when I compared the audio, wow, this TV blows everything else away. No need for a sound bar! My old Samsung with a soundbar sounded terrible and the difference in sound levels between voices and guns or music was laughable, I was always turning the volume up and down. A+ service to the salesman for giving me a full demonstration including audio, he went out of his way to assist me. My only gripe is the remote is either weak or maybe the google TV is lagging or slow, I seem to be pushing the remote buttons twice for every scroll or enter, hopefully they just gave me weak batteries from new. It's bad enough I may ask for a new remote if fresh batteries doesn't fix it, Check out the pics, that cat looks real! And the clarity of OLED is undeniable, the facial hair on Trinity in Matrix 4 on HBO Max stands out like never before!

PQ is outstanding on this large TV. I’ve had a Pioneer KURO Plasma, Sony 930D LED, Sony A8F OLED, and the LG CX OLED. The CX had a good picture but cats and that pointer LG uses don’t mix. The user interface is great. This is the closest I’ve seen to the KURO in motion but that technology is dead. This panel gets plenty bright for me and I can see detail in shadows. Highly recommend this panel.

I have been a fan of sony TVs for more than 30 years. When I moved to Florida 8 years ago I bought my first 4k 43 inches tv and that tv it is still standing and working so now the decision to purchase my first OLED was really easy but I did not know which one to go with, I wanted this one but it was too expensive but thanks to the Tv Gods they took 1000$ of this one, one week before the release which totally increase my decision. now the Television. the image is just gorgeous, you want to have your family pictures on a 77-inch screen displaying all day while not watching tv, connect your google account, and you are set. the movies and Netflix just amazing, my first OLED tv and Sony came to the rescue. You will not be disappointed.

Stunning tv, has a few bugs with E-arc not working properly(Arc works fine with denon x4400h), but the picture quality makes up for the E-arc and V.R.R Update or lack there of??? Was on the fence between this and the Lg C1, went with sony purely off picture quality and upscaling, didnt see a big difference in gaming neither... my series X is still stunning pushing 4k @60hz dolby vision(Not a big deal considering I only play sports games and never seen a difference on my Cx in 120hz vs 60hz), but this Tv is that much better. My previous tvs are LG EF9500, LG B9, AND LG CX, So that should pretty much sum it up!!! Sony is the new king!!! (In My opinion of course lol)

Amazing clarity and picture. The software works perfectly and the setup is ideal for those in the Sony ecosystem (soundbar, Playstation)

OLED is no joke. You can read about black levels and infinite contrast all you want, but, until you witness it in person watching your favorite UHD discs, it becomes unbelievable relevant. Movies you've seen dozens of times, look so much better. Insane detail in texture, perfect blacks and black details, and in my opinion bright enough to make anyone say wow. I was worried about OLED not being bright enough, but in reality it is perfect for my room. I can control darkness day and night, but if you have a very bright room without window control, you may want to look at the brighter LEDs. But, you'll miss out on what makes OLED so great. Infinite contrast and pure black, which may sound like marketing, but it is true. What a difference it truly makes. I bought the 77" for my space. UHD discs, 4K Streaming (AppleTV+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Discovery+) look amazing in that order. I sit about 12' from the screen and it is perfect for 4K viewing. I do notice a huge difference between 4K and 720P and 1080 programing streaming from YoutubeTV and other sources. But, that is to be expected. I went to a much larger TV at the same seating distance. Deal breaker, no. Youtube TV 4K streaming looks very nice on the limited live programming they offer, Thursday night Football, College Football, and Soccer that I've seen. If you're primarily going to watch streaming in HD, I may go with the 65" at a 10-14' seating distance. But, if you're going to watch movies and programs in UHD 4K, this size is a must. Other benefits include superior motion control. This is a feature I've always turned off in past televisions. But, Sony's software and high refresh rate is beyond comparison. Smooth clear action in sports and films. Finally, the Bravia Core platform this TV comes with is very nice. At this level TV, you get 5 movies and 12 months unlimited streaming at around 80Mbps...near UHD Disc data rates. Outstanding picture from this streaming service and it is included. Obviously, the A+ titles are for redemption while the B Movies are for unlimited streaming. Highly recommend the Sony-specific mount for this TV. It allows it to sit flush to the wall while also allowing you to pull it out enough to get to all of the inputs. Built very well. Pair this TV with a Panasonic UB820 UHD player and it is a match made in heaven. Superior picture and when tied to a surround system, amazing sound. Comparing to when I used my XBOX as my UHD player. Truly Awesome TV. Blacks and contrast are unmatched. Motion control is spectacular and Bravia Core is included for some amazing quality streaming content.

I only give compliments and 5 star reviews when they are earned.. This Tv is impressive to say the least.. Its like watching everything for the very first time. We watched The Wizard of Oz in 4K the other night, and it was unlike anything I've ever seen before. I am currently having an issue streaming Atmos from the Tv to my Nakamichi 9.2 Soundbar, but I believe it's the HDMI cable I'm using so I'm stopping at Best Buy this afternoon to hopefully fix it.. Highly recommend this Tv. I was on the fence about which brand to buy between the new LG OLED. I'm glad I went with Sony, tho I can't speak about the quality of LG. Spending 3500 on a TV is a big decision and takes doing some homework ahead of time.. Glad i went with this one..

What a great TV beautiful picture display. nice and bright vivid colors very thankful for my purchase. Perfect for the PlayStation 5 add a backlight for some extra ummff hopefully getting a sound bar to go with it as well!! Looking forward to future Sony products!

From the size of this TV to the 8.3 million pixles integrated in the panel, to the BRAVIA XR processor to the surround sound like surface audio+, this TV is an absolute beast and has no competitor because of the way Sony engineered this TV. After a little over a month of ownership I have not gotten bored of this TV because of every little thing from the quality to the sound of this masterpiece thats not even a master series model its just absolutely wonderful. The MSRP price is $3,499 but with BestBuy’s great sale with 500 bucks off leaving it at $2,999, I purchased this TV and I am confident enough to say that this is the best purchase I have ever made.

We were going back and forth on upgrading to the oled when we moved into a new house and now I’m glad we did. We play games on the Nintendo switch and have no problems at all. The picture quality is excellent. We have a sn8yg lg sound bar that is performing fine with the Sony Bravia A80J 77” so we have not upgraded sound bars as of yet. We love watching football and the tv keeps up with sports. I was worried about the screen being darker but it’s not at all, I am satisfied with the brightness of the colors. Of course when the signal comes broadcast in hd the tv really shines. We are all satisfied with this tv

So far so good. I've spent many a nights so far watching Spartacus ( for the 3rd time.) It's like a seeing all the gory kills for the 1st time again! I can't wait to re-watch Gladiator, GOT, etc all over again to catch the things only OLED allows me too see. 77" is great but you always want more, lol! Just in time for the holidays, thank goodness.

The overall picture quality of this tv is incredible. The motion is excellent - a big step up from my A9G. This TV gets very bright in HDR/Dolby Vision content - an even bigger step up from my A9G, and I bet, probably pretty close to an A90J. The interface is excellent - I love google tv, I love how Sony lays out it's settings and picture controls, overall awesome. My panel does have some magenta around the edges, and top right-hand corner in certain scenes and the bottom left corner has a cyan tint. Aside from the minor panel defects, this TV is excellent! I love the remote - four great shortcut buttons.

This is hands down the best TV I have ever owned. While OLED TVs are not as bright as LED TVs, this Sony is plenty bright and vibrant. The black are insanely deep and inky. With letterboxed programming the bars just blend into the bezel. The picture setting are very accurate out of the box, only a few mild tweaks and they were dialed in. I own the 48” LG C1 in my office and it is a great TV and was on the fence with getting the 77” C1 or the 80J. The sales guy recommended the Sony and I’m glad I listened to him.

The Bravia XR A80J OLED Smart TV was relatively easy to set up. The onscreen setup procedure walks you through connecting to input sources and the internet and the built-in speakers are clear with good fidelity. I have been viewing multiple shows from cable and streaming sources on the TV for about a month and the picture is still a little too "blue" for my taste but I will wait a couple months before I attempt any adjustments to the color and hue. The sharpness and depiction of black is superb. Much better than anything I've seen from the other OLED and QLED smart TVs. I'm glad I waited to replace my Panasonic Plasma TV until Sony came out with this line of OLED Smart TVs.

Have had this incredible tv for about 10 days now and still amazed at the picture quality. Coming from a 2019 77” LG oled so I wasn’t sure I’d see much difference but happy to say there is. Both in colors-they seem a little more spot on and there is more depth to them as well as the brightness is better.

The 77 Sony a80j looks amazing. I own a 63 inch Samsung plasma and a 75 inch Sony 900e, and this oled is by far my favorite. The a80j gets brighter than I was expecting. In fact, I’ve had to turn down the brightness at night because it was hurting my eyes. The motion is also much better than I was expecting. In the motion flow settings, using 1 on smoothness and 1 on clearness, I like the motion better than my plasma or lcd. Obviously the contrast is also great due to it being an oled. It’s so nice watching sci-fi movies with pitch black outer space.
