Bought an open box and the best buy agent assured that there were no scratches on the TV. I was surprised to see that there were couple of scratches once I opened the tv. And best buy gave me a very hard time to prove it and return it

Gorgeous looking TV! I bought this to replace my Sony 75” X850D LED TV (which was an awesome tv back in 2016). The colors and contrast are amazing and it pairs perfectly with my PS5 and my Sony HT-A7000 soundbar and surround speakers. Obviously TV speakers aren’t great and this one doesn’t move the needle much either hence my 3 star rating however with the HT-A7000 soundbar you can pair them in such a way that the tv enhances the center channel and gives you better voice location with on-screen action. (Samsung has something similar) I considered buying the A95L but it came down to cost vs quality. The A95L is a gorgeous TV but not worth twice the price of the A80L in my opinion. I spent a lot of time reading reviews of the LG C3 and G3 as well as the Samsung S95C and I’m more than happy with my choice.

If you're reading this, you know the TV's you're considering, likely (at the time of this writing) one of three. I needn't list them, I was on that same fence. I read everything available online, watched *so* many YouTubes about all three & the general area of OLED's, WOLED panels, etc. I settled on this one at the recommendation of my Best Buy/Geek Squad Home Install Consultant primarily because at the time, there was only $300 price difference between this and the other TV that uses this panel. The difference, the Consultant and YouTube said, was primarily because of processing. I'm SO glad I chose this one. Nothing against the other TV's! If they are your thing, whether price, preference, brand loyalty, please be happy. If you're reading I'm assuming that you're hoping for help. THIS is the one to get (at a price). Not sure I would pay the normal retail price for processing but on sale it's better that the other one using this exact same WOLED panel, and it is visually noticeable. I'm still new to it an playing around; as I discover help on picture settings, I may come back here to update this review. This was kind of a difficult sell on my pragmatic teacher wife (who otherwise subscribed to an expensive KEF speaker-based sound upgrade, bless her). And even she has turned to me multiple times and expressed how glad she is that we purchased this (coming from same size Vizio M-series LED). This renders in acing detail, with vivid but realistic color and amazing black/shadow detail. Movement is *excellent*, which was occasionally a difficulty on the old TV, as we are primarily movie watchers. No "halos", "hot spots", nor difficulties of any kind. And Yes, you can see the difference even in the store, looking at the two, if you give it a minute. I guess the processing is worth it. We'll see on reliability (FWIW: the blue shirt at the store said they never, ever get returns on the LG as opposed to especially the Samsung), but we have that Total Tech thingy so I think are good for 5 years? Given how this thing is performing so far, in a quite bright environment, I hope for several times that amount of product life. May your travels be as rewarding.

So far, this does pretty much everything I need it to do and it's the best set I've owned. I'm not even slightly a gamer, nor is anyone in my family. We watch a lot of movies and stream the usual suspects, but I'm the only real 'videophile' in the fam. The blacks are legitimately black and there is no blooming of any kind. Color is a bit cooler than I'd seen on previous Sony sets, but after a week or so of getting used to it, I can see that it's more natural than any I've owned. I've seen complaints of it being too dim- and I didn't find that to be the case at all. We watch in a somewhat light-controlled room or at night. There are titles I own that are timed darker- mostly horror movies- that I wouldn't necessarily want to throw on in the middle of the day anyway, so looking at those at night... the black reveal plenty of detail and provide a thoroughly cinematic experience. Good upscaling for lower-res sources pretty much belongs to Sony so if you watch a lot of older movies on dvd and blu-ray in addition to 4k UHD, you'll be impressed. I've had a couple of blu-ray titles I've watched that I could almost swear are legit 4K. I went with this 77" model which is about as big as our living room will allow and I couldn't be happier with how it performs. The interface is simple and intuitive. I've had no glitchy issues at all... after realizing that 'Auto-sync' should be disabled if you are using an A/V receiver and want your sound set to 'Pure Direct' to hear a sound source as intended. The auto-sync function had the tv commanding the receiver to set itself to Multi-ST- which fills all of the speakers in my modest 5.1 system. But if you're a purist, you don't want Casablanca or The Bride of Frankenstein coming out of all five speakers. That said, everything else here works a treat and it's about as good a bang you'll get for your buck.

This tv is amazing, it showed me what I’ve been missing out on. The color quality on the screen is really good, it displays blacks like a pro! Plus the contrast is just wonderful. The 120hz refresh rate works like a charm for fast moving scenes, quite the upgrade from 60hz. I am very glad I bought this tv, it has changed our ps5 gaming experience ten fold!!!! I do have a Bose soundbar and subwoofer so I don’t much much use for the high quality speakers. Luckily it is able to use the center channel in junction with the soundbar.

Amazing picture…. Easy to install. I did have an older Sony tv up before so the mounting bracket was the same. Great sound even though I’m switching to a stereo.

This OLED Sony TV is probably one of the best TVs on the market for the price. It has great color, contrast, and image quality. It takes an OLED set to the next level thanks to the adjustments Sony makes to its color accuracy.

We went to best buy to pick out a new tv because our 70 inch Sony finally stopped producing a good picture. I was set on getting the 85 inch but when we went to the check out my wife kept looking at the 77 A80L and was pointing out how vivid the colors look compared to the tv’s around it. We stood there for 10 minutes watching it and from that point the decision was made. Size didn’t matter anymore. It was the picture that sold us. The rep told us this tv is the one the producers use when they play back a scene they just shot and recorded. We paid slightly more than we were going to pay for the 85 inch, but this picture is phenomenal. What I also like is even when the room is filled with sunlight we can still see darker scenes. This was an issue with our old tv, but not at all with this new one. We are happy with our purchase and recommend opting for a better display. Sports, movies, Netflix, everything looks enhanced with this model. You won’t be disappointed.

Amazing Sound and Picture! OLED screen produces amazing colors and perfect blacks!

I have owned this TV for over a year now and just want to say I have been absolutely impressed with this Sony Bravia OLED 77”. The picture quality is so crystal clear with vibrant colors that show the tiniest of details. Watching any 4K movies, HD sports, or even gaming on your playstation, you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for amazing quality and can fit this in your budget than look no further. Best investment on a TV I have ever made!

We looked at several televisions to replace our 60” Pioneer Elite Kuro plasma. The Pioneer was an amazing set, but lacks 4K and wanted a larger display. We first decided on the Samsung S90C since it is the new wave of OLED panels. After having it for a week, both my wife and son noticed how choppy the motion appeared compared to our previous Pioneer plasma. We then decided to replace it with the Sony A80L as we have an A80J in our home theater. What an AMAZING difference!! The A80L is a FANTASTIC display with no choppy motion as we experienced with the Samsung. Colors are spot on and look so lifelike and not over-saturated. Coming from the awesome Pioneer Elite plasma, we are extremely happy with the A80L and would highly recommend it!! Great Job Sony!!!

I have never owned a Sony large screen TV. I have always bought Samsung. The new Samsung 2024 NEO QLED model didn’t work so well for me, so I bought my first Sony and I have loved it. The OLED picture is wonderful. All of my electronics worked well immediately, my TIVO Edge, my Verizon DVR, my Nvidia Shield, and my Samsung Blueray player. My older SONOS sound bar took some work to get it working with the Sony remote. I had to turn off Bluetooth, because my sound bar only used infrared. The Sonos sound bar started working with the Sony remote immediately. The Dolby digital works extremely well with my Sonos sound bar, Sonos sub and two Sonos Play One speakers in a surround sound configuration.

We purchased this Sony 77” OLED to replace a 10 year old 65” LED from a leading competitor. Wow! This TV is incredible. With a minor amount of tweaking the picture is absolutely beautiful. Colors are vibrant and realistic, not overly saturated like some other TV’s we looked at. The blacks are black, not a washed out gray like on our old set. We looked at a lot of TV’s but this OLED kept standing out against the others. We are very happy with our purchase and Best Buy took care of everything from the install to hauling away the old TV. There are a lot of really good TV’s out right now but this one is the one for us.
