Serious Panel Issues

Vertical lines or streaks in dark scenes. The lines are very noticeable. In fact; the left half of the screen is brighter than the right half. I went to some of the online forums on this issue, and found many others with this problem. Until SONY fixes this, I would stay far away from the 83" a90j. I produce HDR content (ST2084/1000 nit) and watch HDR movies too. The streaks appear in both HDR and SDR. I took some shots using 5% input. The first image is grey, then R-G-B and White.

This Sony A90J is truly exceptional. Not as bright as an LED, but for perfect blacks, you really gotta know what you're signing up for. At 83 inches, this bahemoth is a true marvel as bringing you into the experience. The adjustable true motion settings allows you to really dial in the soap opera effect or lessen it to your preference. There's also a fully customizable option to adjust the colors, luminance, etc. This TV handles action scenes GREAT! however, when viewing captions, this TV does stuggle a bit. totally forgivable, but it is distracting. Also, the backlit remote is super clutch.

I’ve never seen anything like it!! 4k hdr movie disks look incredible, as well as streaming apps through the tv which I was not expecting the picture quality to be so impressive!! I have the Sony HT-7000,SW5 subwoofer and RS3S surround speakers which sounds phenomenal but the a90j speakers are also so good you don’t have to have additional audio speakers!! I highly recommended this this tv. It is a whole new movie watching experience!! Next purchase will be A95L for the bedroom! I can’t wait!!

Having spent a considerable amount of time looking at this TV and its competitors, I finally settled on the Sony (my first) and the picture looks even better than what was in the showroom. Usually, it's the other way around. While the visuals, build quality and integrated functionality are great, I do have a few negative notes. - Transitioning between apps occasionally has some lag or flickering. To date, about 2 mos worth of time, I have had to hard reboot the TV twice. Acceptable? Don't know. - The reaction between remote input and TV response seems delayed at times, despite no obstructions between the remote and TV, with a 10 - 13' distance. - Like all other brands of smart TV's there is a fair number of unwanted apps. However, I was able to easily remove the icons from the main screen and add the ones that are actually used. All in all, I am glad about this purchase, despite the price tag, and would readily do so again.

But, the 2013 Sony XBR65X900A, was phenomenal in its upscaling and its elephant speakers are a powerhouse. I finally decided to move that to the bedroom and go for the A90J when the price dropped to 5K. I was skeptical about how the picture brightness would be in my apartment with windows all over the vaulted ceiling. So, on advise of salesperson, decided to go for the slightly bigger and somewhat cheaper 2022 X95K, 85 inch. Great TV with overdrive brightness. But, the sound wasn't anywhere close to my 10 yr old TV, and the blooming around captions was too much for our taste. I was going to pair it with Sony HTA9, so was ok to live with the subpar sound. Two weeks on X95K, and I finally decided to spend that extra 1K and get the A90J. What a masterpiece it is. I have no issues viewing it in a sunlit living room and the sound quality with acoustic surface audio+, and center channel support for Sony HT-A9, gives you that over the top movie theater experience, for a reasonable price. No complains, just wishlist/recommendation: --------------------------------------------------------------- I only wish Sony had *1Gig* ethernet port and not the standard 100 mbps port that we have under $500 tv, when their own Bravia Core Purestream demands 115 Mbps of connection for max throughput. Wifi is not an option, especially when using HT-A9 hometheater, because of the constant RF channels interference from Wifi routers. It only gets worse for those living in condos with tons of wifi routers nearby. Thankfully, I was able to work around that with Plug & Play USB to Ethernet Adapter to get to the Gigabit Ethernet. Sony please spend $5 more to upgrade to 1G port on Master series television. Also, while you are at it. Through in some additional memory or at least an external memory slot because GoogleTV with its recommendations, is a memory hogger.

Depending on the operating environment of the network, connection speed may differ. The communication rate and quality are not guaranteed.

This is my first OLED tv and I used to think there wasn’t a big deal. Then I bought this one and it’s great. There’s no blooming, colors are vibrant and it’s not dim like people make OLED seem to be. I have this tv in my living room which is bright. The tv got so bright watching something I had to close my eyes and turn my head. If you can still find this tv it’s worth it to buy it.

There is a lot of adjustments on these tvs the picture is fantastic and the colors are deep and rich …. When the screen goes black it’s total darkness in the room … I paired with a Dennon tuner and Definitive Technology DM70 speakers … it really is awesome to watch a movie

Very happy with the clarity and able to see all the details and colors we missed in movies we've rewatched. Some of the pictures look 3D the colors are so good!

The samsung looked great and Qd-Oled is next level stuff. But I kept coming back to 83 inch sony master oled . you see I have the 65 inch a90j and just love that tv. I was a little worry that the 83 might be too big for my modest living room. but to my surprise, it was not. I know this is not the best tv anymore, but let me tell you it is still one best tv money can buy. from the built quality to the picture quality, this thing is amazing. from cable to bluray to 4k. everything looks outstanding.I will be getting a qd-oled in the future. but I HAVE NO BUYER REMORSE. GREAT JOB SONY

I actually had the 77" A80J but found a deal on an open box A90J. IMO, there is a noticeable difference in the brightness of the two (that's not to say the A80J is not bright) and the picture is a little punchier. The remote is significantly better and beefier. There is a little motion judder on lower frame rate feeds but I have not noticed any issues on 4k, Imax, and Dolby Vision feeds. Highly recommend it if you can find it on sale. This model is still over-priced at $5,499 for a model that has been out for a year. Anything below $5k is worth the money.
