Great for a bright room.

This screen is amazing, I have it in a fairly bright room with a large bay window.
I've attached one front-on picture, and one from an angle showing the bay window. The Bay window photo is from The Artemis II mission, live from almost halfway to the moon!

Overall, it is a good TV. The picture, sound, and brightness are excellent. Unfortunately, quality control is not like the Sony of the past. When my TV was delivered, there were marks and scratches on the screen. I exchanged the TV for the same exact model. The second TV also has marks and scratches on the screen but less than the first one. But the second TV had a palm print on the screen which I assume came from factory. I wish Sony would do a better job in protecting the screen during the assembly and shipping process. It is unfortunate that a $5000 TV did not come with better quality control. I ended up keeping the TV but I’m not as satisfied with it as I would like.

The picture quality on the Sony Bravia 9 is truly amazing; super bright, insanely detailed, and the contrast makes everything pop. Watching movies and shows feels like being in a theater, especially on the massive 85” screen. Pairing it with a Dolby Atmos surround sound system is an absolute game changer.
Hi FrankC! Thank you for your feedback on the Sony BRAVIA 9. We are thrilled to hear that the picture quality and immersive sound have enhanced your viewing experience!
We're glad you chose Sony! Warm regards, Estefany

Tv is great, brighter and sharper, with very good sound. Only complaint is that the screen reflects everything in front of it even if there is no direct light in front of it. So, in scenes involving night times, you can see your place reflected on the blackness of the screen . The anti reflective coating sony is touting about is worthless.
It's fantastic to hear you're enjoying the brightness, sharpness, and outstanding sound quality. We're glad these key features are making a difference in your viewing experience.
We understand your frustration with the screen reflection. The anti-reflective coating is designed to minimize glare from direct light sources, but due to the high peak brightness and glossy finish required for deep black levels and vibrant colors, some environmental reflections can still be visible, especially in dark scenes. We know this can be distracting, and we'll certainly pass your feedback on to our product team.
For the best viewing experience, we recommend adjusting your room's lighting or using curtains to block outside light. You might also consider repositioning the TV to minimize reflections from windows or other light sources.
Thanks again for choosing Sony!
Sincerely, Jenn | Sony Social Media Team.

This TV is really the best of both worlds - OLED, and Mini-LED. The picture quality is wonderful, and as a flagship sony TV, it has all the bells and whisltes, (including 10 free credits of their Sony Core streaming service - super high quality A/V).
This TV gets BRIGHT! The highlights on HDR movies and video games are insane, and it still maintains OLED-like black levels.
This is such a great TV
You made the right choice! We're thrilled that you like the picture quality and Sony Pictures Core app of the TV. Thank you for choosing Sony!

Love this TV. Super bright, great contrast, deep black levels that rival OLED, with no blooming. I compared it against the LG G4, I own both and prefer the Bravia 9.

Sony Bravia 9 (85-inch) Review – A King Among TVs

The 85-inch Sony Bravia 9 delivers stunning picture quality, combining incredible detail, powerful processing, and vibrant colors on a massive scale. For a TV of this size, it’s remarkable how sharp and immersive the image remains, whether you’re watching in a bright living room or settling in for a cinema-style movie night.
Dolby Vision is particularly impressive, offering deep contrast and lifelike highlights. Sony also provides excellent control over HDR and SDR settings, allowing fine-tuning for any viewing environment. Unlike OLEDs, which can struggle in well-lit rooms, the Bravia 9 excels in all lighting conditions, making it the perfect all-around display for any setting.
Until OLED technology can match this level of brightness and versatility, the Sony Bravia 9 remains the king of my home theater setup.

This tv has the best of both worlds- super dark contrast and great brightness. The picture quality is elite. To me the A95 OLED has a slightly better picture due to contrast, but (1) this tv is super close to that and makes up for it in brightness as well (2) Sony OLED maxes out at 77” - this TV is the only way to get that ELITE picture and have it 8” bigger to start getting into the HUGE picture size. I have many high end viewing areas (including a dedicated 106” theater) - my favorite is the 85” Sony Bravia 9.

TV is actually phenomenal once I was able to attach the legs. Highly recommended for picture, appearance, quality, and 110/220v. I am partially to blame. I purchased the TV as an open box "excellent" product at my Best Buy store. I bought the TV as the price was great as an open box purchase. I was going to use it once we moved overseas and therefore never unboxed it. Put too much trust in Best Buy verifying that all the parts were there! After all, I had no issues with a Bravia 7 tv I bought just a month earlier as an Excellent condition too. Not to mention numerous other Excellent condition open box purchases over the last couple of years. No issues ever. By the way, Sony televisions are great that they can be used on 240V supply as well. Fast forward now to just a month ago, when my furniture along with my Sony Bravia 9 television is unboxed overseas. Surprise, 4 screws needed for the feet are missing as well as the remote control! I had to order replacements through Sony in Thailand and I am still waiting to receive them. Again, this is the part that is my fault. I should have unboxed everything when I got it home versus waiting until I was in another country months later. Needless to say very frustrating. I just purchased some universal M5 x 12 screws until the parts from Sony arrive. So grateful that they worked and I could use the remote from my Bravia 7. Still was a good price, being shorted key items was not expected. Excellent means all parts are included!! Buyers beware.

I purchased the 85" version of the Bravia 9 since it has more dimming zones in relation to size (than the 75" and 65") and the results are, I think, noticeable. These thousands of dimming zones combined with the step-dimming Mini-LED technology produces blacks that are exceptionally deep and blooming which is not perceptible. The brightness and contrast are great, colors are vibrant but accurate, and the Sony upscaling is amazing. There are reviews elsewhere that go into more detail but I am certainly pleased with the amount of control I have to dial in the picture settings to my liking and the TV makes movies I have viewed dozens of times look new again in ways I have not seen before.
Also, I have the TV matched with a Sony HT-A7000 Soundbar, SA-SW5 Subwoofer, SA -RS5 Surrounds, and when using the TV's speakers for Acoustic Center Sync the combined audio is simply enveloping!
We are so happy to hear that you are loving the beautiful picture quality of your new K-85XR90! It is wonderful to know that the sound is phenomenal when paired with the Bravia Theater Quad and the SA-SW5 Subwoofer—that sounds like an incredible home theater setup.
Thank you for choosing Sony!

Coming from an OLED, I don't miss the OLED. There is one small downside to this mini-LED though. With full screen, bright color images, there is vignetting on the sides and top corners of the image. It's not too distracting, but it's there. I guess it's the price you pay to not worry about burn-in. The brightness, colors, and clarity of the image are unmatched. Off-axis viewing is as good as my old Sony OLED too.
The sound quality is great for TV speakers, but I'm still using a soundbar.

Bought this back in October 2024 as a store return, fast forward December 2025 and I can say that this set has met all my expectations from a mini LED 4k set. Definetly worth getting the Sony wall bracket specific for this model, too. The only nitpick I have is the screen "dirty" look when the display is in transition from turning on to having UI, or HBO. For some reason there is uniformity artifact (from the led arrays behind the screen) It does not detract from the excellent black levels once the content is displayed. The UI is responsive and the remote backlight is great.
We are thrilled to hear that after over a year of use, your BRAVIA 9 is still exceeding your expectations! It’s great to know that the Mini LED performance and black levels are delivering that premium experience we strive for. We also appreciate you mentioning the Sony wall bracket; it really does make a difference in achieving that sleek, flush-to-wall look.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the uniformity during screen transitions. While our high-density LED arrays are designed for peak performance during active content, we take all "nitpicks" seriously as they help us refine our technology. It’s good to hear that this doesn't detract from your enjoyment of the excellent picture quality once your movies start!
Thank you for being a Sony customer!

I've been waiting for a "break though" upgrade for a number of years and finally pulled the trigger on the Bravia 9 85". Sony 77A95L was my original thought but wanted a bigger screen size for my room.
Huge improvement over previous Sony 79X900B and provides a great competitive option to OLED especially if you have a bright room.
Out of the box the professional mode picture setting is very accurate. Using the picture settings you can finetune the TV to deliver a stunning picture for you room / preferences.
My panel was clean; no marks, aberrations or stuck/dead pixels. No bugs or software glitches. Update was simple.
Dolby Vision and HDR10 provide brilliant picture quality.
The screen does have a special coating that will appear reflective when off, but once the TV is on a non issue for me. If you have lights directly in front of the TV you could/will see some reflections.
Viewing angle is very good for this panel ... but not as good as OLED or QD-OLED ... this is expected. Not an issue for my seating positions.
This is hooked up to my Denon A1H in a 9.4.4 home theatre set-up. Makes for a perfect addition to my recent upgrades. So built-in sound / speaker quality was not important to me and my reference for sound quality is not a fair comparison.
Sony XR processing is second to none and worth the premium.
Overall very satisfied.
Thank you for the purchase! We're happy to hear that you like the OLED picture quality and smart features of the TV. We appreciate the 5-star rating and thank you for choosing Sony!

Watched this item for more than a year. When price dipped $1700 to $3K it was a no-brainer. Has lived up to its lofty billing.
Actually purchased a 98-inch TCL UM8K during college football season. But after 2 weeks, I was not impressed with motion handling or quality of facial presentation. I also have a Sony 77” OLED and the TCL is not yet ready for that level of presentation.
So I spoke with Chad at Best Buy and he again recommended the Sony Bravia 9 in 85 inches. I had always liked it, so I agreed.
Could not be happier. The Bravia 9 is still the champ of mini LED tech. Outstanding processing and motion handling. Sports are fine.
And the 98” down to 85” is not that noticeable after your brain has had a few days to adapt.
Until TCL is able to co-opt the Sony professing tech into its line, the Sony brands will continue to rule TV land quality.
Grab this model while you can at $3K.
Shout out to Chad for assistance.
Hi BeninBR! We are excited to hear that the K-85XR90 has lived up to the hype for you! We’re so glad our processing and motion handling stood out during your comparison.
The BRAVIA 9 is powered by our most advanced XR Processor, which uses cognitive intelligence to understand how humans see and hear, resulting in incredibly realistic facial tones and smooth motion for sports.
We're genuinely thankful you decided on Sony! Warm regards, Estefany

The Bravia 9 is very bright TV. Works well in a room with a lot of windows. Upscaling engine on the bravia 9 is great. Makes low resolution movies and tv shows look great. Black levels are really close to OLED levels. Very pleased with purchase.
Hi Bestbuyguy, it's a true pleasure to hear how much you're enjoying your new BRAVIA 9! We're so glad the incredible brightness and amazing upscaling are making such a difference for you, especially with older content and in a bright room. It really means a lot to us that you're so happy with your purchase.

Best Sony TV Ever!

This is the best TV I've ever owned. The picture and sound are incredible. Even though we had Sony's "Flagship" TV, the XBR-75Z9D from 2017, the advancement in technology is very noticeable. This TV is brighter, has better color and even enhances the picture from Cable TV! You really notice the difference in the skin tones, sharpness, and clarity. Good examples that demonstrate that are News programs. The sound has also greatly improved, and you no longer need to connect Surround Sound components to you're WiFi. All components are connecting wirelessly to the Sony TV itself, using the Soundbar 9, large Subwoofer and their two larger Surround Sound Rear speakers.

Coming from my Z9F, the color really pops and looks amazing! Blacks are also a lot better than my Z9F. There is still some blooming, but not like my Z9F, very improved. Overall Excellent Picture and am loving it!
