Tv is not as efficient in the processing of the video feed for certain scenes. Picture at time is pixilated

We received the TV in November and we tried to install it in January. We were mounting it in my hand gripping the TV to hang ithad cracked the screen now they told me it’s junk they can’t repair it and I’m out $2000.

Upgraded to this from the XBR 65in I bought 10 years ago. Beautiful colors - some slight blooming in very dark rooms, but it is fine. No issues with this - but wish it didn't have any bloatware. People just connect streamers to these anyway.

After much deliberation and an in-person visit to the store, I chose the Sony 85" Class BRAVIA XR X90L as my new television, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Seeing all the large-format TVs side by side in the store really helped me compare picture quality and features. The sales rep provided detailed and helpful information, which made narrowing down my choice a lot easier. Ultimately, this TV stood out because of its balance of price and features, aligning perfectly with my needs. Once the TV was delivered and set up at home, it exceeded my expectations. The full-array local dimming is a standout feature, producing significantly deeper blacks compared to my old TV. This really enhances the contrast and overall picture quality, especially when watching darker scenes or movies. The colors are vibrant without being overly saturated, and the clarity of the 4K resolution is stunning. The TV’s integration with Google TV adds another layer of convenience, offering seamless navigation, voice control, and access to a vast range of apps and streaming services. Setup was straightforward, and the interface feels intuitive and responsive. Overall, the Sony X90L has been a fantastic upgrade for my home entertainment system. Whether I’m watching movies, sports, or streaming shows, the picture quality is immersive and impressive. I’m thrilled with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a premium large-format TV at a great value.

I own multiple OLED's (LG C2 & C3) so I was skeptical about the performance of this LED X90L, but the price for the 85" panel and the reviews touting it enticed me. I decided to give it a go in my basement media room and see how it stacked against the OLED's I own. The color accuracy of this panel IMO exceeds those of LG OLEDs. I know this might seem like a controversial statement, but you have to see it to understand it. Sony's image processing IMO is the best in the industry while watching movies and shows. Human skin and texture on this panel is much more lifelike and non saturated vs. OLEDs. Colors pop for sure, but they are much more natural in appearance and lifelike. I'm one of those types that have to tweak my OLED/LED extensively to get the color/contrast to my liking, but Dolby Vision Bright combined with the XR processing from Sony is as perfect an image you can get without spending 6k+ Brightness! 600+ nits for a Full Array LED is LEGIT. In bright environments this semi gloss panel works just fine, and has the brightness to match- but in dark basement environments is where this thing really shines. There are Mini LED panels that struggle to get to that mark with double or triple the dimming zones available to them. Gaming wise this is a capable panel, but it does have a slightly higher input lag than OLEDs- but none of that should matter for casual gaming. Game mode exists now with VRRR and G-Sync compatibility up to 4k 120hz. Bottom line, Sony took notice of HiSense and TCL creeping up on them last year, and juiced this X90L to exceed them at a very competitive price. This upper mid range panel touches areas of the high end range at an awesome price with a picture you just have to see to appreciate.

Recently moved and was looking for an 85 inch tv for the new place. Went in thinking I was going to buy another TV, but after looking and really wanting a Sony, my guy at BestBuy took his time and showed me this, and explained the difference in how the lighting on these tvs work. Although there are better quality ones, for the price this tv is great! Hung it on the wall, and am enjoying the size and quality!

Great picture, easy setup. After immediately ignoring Google smart TV in the past, this iteration is finally fast enough and good enough that I'm using it. Plus they finally added Google photos as a screen saver option. Smart switching between video modes, plenty bright for a bright room, and not OLED blacks, but plenty dark enough for a fraction the price.

Its not Mini-LED, its not OLED, but its the best FALD television I’ve owned. Sony clarity, impressive processing, and shadow detail preservation are all things this X90L have that you just have to see for your own. I got my 65” during black friday at a fantastic price. The picture I included in my review is of the TV mounted in the first room I had it in. The room it lives in now has bright daylight filling it and recessed lighting in a vaulted ceiling at night. The X90L delivers the best brightness that one with these specs can deliver in both lighting conditions. Yes you will see elevated blacks in letter box or cinema black bars and dark areas. But those are a small price to pay to have the bright levels and shadow details preserved that i mentioned earlier. I love the google OS that comes with the tv. Easy to navigate and setup to your preferences. Build quality is as expected from Sony, solid. It’s not a flagship, but you dont feel like you got a cheap TV. Sony did a great job of building the TV to fit the budget but not feel like any corners were cut. For under $1000 for a 65” during black friday, this is literally a best buy at Best Buy.

I have a 65in Sony A8. But, as I re-configured my family room I ended up with a big wall that kind of dwarfed it. So, when I went to my local, I was able to compare that this X90 and the A8 were indeed the two best to my eyes. By a long shot. Side by side the blacks on the A8 are unbelievably good but, for something like 3k less X90 was very close in color areas, brightness (possibly better) sharpness, etc. So, I pulled the trigger at 2195 and then found out it was 1995 a day later (of course) and Best Buy honored that price no problem, especially since I have their card which is one reason it's probably worthwhile to have one. Install was flawless from Geek Squad just moving my existing mount and hooking to my Onkyo recever and polk towers. Once I played with the settings I got an even better picture than in the store. it's not perfect but, it's a great deal and looks very very good. I would HIGHLY recommend it for sports enthusiasts. They look amazing on this screen.

Let me start by saying thank you to the BB management team. I was able to purchase an open box on Superbowl Sunday for $899. This tv does an amazing job making SD content look great. That's darn near impossible nowadays, but Sony is Sony for a reason. It took some getting used to the OS (I prefer Tizen), but once I got used to it, it has perks over Samsung like NBA app. HD and 4K content look great too, but my selling point is SD content. I use a sound bar, so can't speak to TV audio. TV is super heavy, so make sure you have help if mounting it. I hope I get many years from this tv

After doing a ton of research, I decided on the 85” X90L. Most of what I found is thay this TV seemed to hit a sweet spot with people for quality and price. I could not agree more. The picture quality is top notch. I have watched 4K movies on disc, streaming 4K, PS5 Pro, and Series X. Everything looks crystal clear, and the colors are magnificent. 4K movies with Dolby Vision support is holy cow awesome. The brightness of the TV is unreal. In playing Ghost of Tshushima on PS5, and enemy threw a flash bang at me. It was so bright, I actually squinted my eyes and turned my head. That is next level awesome! Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and will enjoy for years to come.

It's a Sony so I expected near perfection.. nothing is perfect but they definitely know how to get close! Picture quality is sharp, colors pop and anything on 4k looks great! Sound is good and loud, we have a soundbar but sometimes it doesn't connect and we still have a hard time telling the difference between the two. The only issue I can come up with is when watching something with subtitles on if the scene is in a dark setting the subtitles illuminate a lot so where the light affects the space in the scene.. but that's honestly an issue with all tvs unless you have OLED..

When the 85" went on sale for $1999 I could not pass any longer. Wanted the X95L but Best Buy was not offering for some reason. I'm a Total Tech member so delivery and mounting was free. BB tech did a great job on the install. Very quick clean and professional. My adult children came over for football and were amazed by the bright beautiful picture. My son thought it was an OLED due to the deep blacks and great contrast. Off angle is not great but I don't watch off angle so was not worried when I made the purchase. I have a Sony A7000 sound bar and the Acoustic Center Sync is awesome! Watch a lot of Youtube TV and streaming so wanted the Sony processing which did not disappoint. If I were single I'd have the 98" version of this but want to stay married. Great job Sony and Best Buy!

I'm not gonna lie... we deliberately chose this as the best option for the price point, but it wasn't the primary choice (OLED). However, it you asked me to identify the difference between this and the one that costs 2x as much, I couldn't tell you without significant examination and time with them being side by side. It certainly isn't something I notice watching it every day. It is also the first TV we have had that has the google account option, and although I thought that would be an additional PITA, it has actually made the interface much easier than our other 'smart' tv (Samsung). My only 'CON' is that it requires significant investment in wall structure to hang, and if you think you can get away with just placing it on a console table, the length (65") and width of the feet (18") is too long/wide for almost anything except custom made stands. It is borderline to big/heavy for the kind that suspend it over a console. The size of this quickly limits your options, so make sure the wall you are going to place it is structurally sound because that is going to be where you have to put it (unless you are ok with it on the floor).

I have had this TV for a little over a year and is being used for different streaming services not a single issue so far, video quality really good it exceeded my expectations. The full-array local dimming is a really nice feature, far better blacks compared to my old TV. This really enhances the contrast and overall picture quality, on the color side is vibrant making clear and natural images, regarding sound don't know much about the speakers since i have it hooked up to a Sonos wireless system but definitely worth buying.
