Overall I am happy with this TV and would buy it again. The picture quality is excellent and the viewing angle is great. HDR and Dolby Vision are amazing. However there are a few issues: The most serious is eARC/ARC support. When connected to an AV receiver, sound will occasionally drop for about 10 to 15 seconds when using the built-in Android TV apps like Hulu. Looking this issue up on the web, it appears that is a common problem with many later model Sony TV's and I've not seen where anyone has been able to get this to be resolved other than to attach an external box (like a Shield TV or Apple TV) to play that content. From what I have read, all who have contacted Sony get nice replies but no fixes. You really have to use eARC if you want high end sound like DTS or Dolby Atmos sent to your audio system as the optical connection is too slow to support this. CEC works well if you are willing to let the TV control everything. This is fine, except the TV will only control the volume on a hand full of brands of receivers with Yamaha not being one of them. Also their remote has no "stop" nor skip forward or reverse buttons which is annoying given that fact there is plenty of room for them. So for these reasons I still have to use my Harmony One third party remote, but the idea of the TV being the one to control the switching of the AV input is not suited to this type of remote. The screen has a glossy surface so any lights you have that are at or near the same height as the TV will cause a horizontal beige streak on the screen during dark scenes at night. Overhead lighting is not an issue. So you either live with the streaks or turn the offending lights off. I think the gloss surface probably helps make the image quality so amazing, so I am willing to live with this. This last issue is true of nearly any current Android/Google TV on the market. The Android GUI runs ONLY at 1080p Download the "rescheck" Android app an you will see. Applications that stream video, like Amazon Prime etc, use the Android Media Layer interface that gets around this and do indeed stream 4K video. However, apps that display pictures (like photo album software) are stuck with the GUI resolution of 1080p. So if you thought you were going to be able to see you high resolution snapshots in their full 4K glory, you will be very disappointed. This is potentially fixed with an Android "adb" tweak to change the GUI resolution to 4k, but I am not willing to risk on a TV this expensive (so I did it on my Nvidia Shield instead and use that for the photo apps as well as most other things due to the ARC audio issues stated above). Android TV version 12 is supposed to fix this but who knows if or when this TV will get this upgrade (This TV is currently running Android TV version 10). So because of this and the audio issue, I use my Nvidia Shield for nearly all content except for YouTube which I run from the Sony TV due to its support for YouTube HDR which is not supported by the Shield. So if you use the built in speakers and not an A/V receiver most of this will not be an issue for you except the 1080p Android resolution which like I said is currently true for all other Android TV's as well and is fixable if it really bothers you.

This is a great TV with most every feature possible, only thing missing would be miniLED but I couldn’t wait. It has eArc that allows for latest Atmos sound and 4K video formats with HDR. I especially look forward to using the new Nextgen ATSC over the air tuner for receiving 4K and Atmos when local stations begin broadcasting these current technologies. The picture is great and blooming is not noticeable to me. It’s a very heavy LCD at 85” and you will need two people to lift and setup. The new Bravia Core app is available but has some audio sync problems which are hopefully due to shakedown bugs.

Love this television, colors are vibrant and clear. I hooked my surround sound system for full effects and the experience is awesome. Big screen and huge sound, what a great combination. I have purchased all my big screen T.V.'s from Best Buy and I still have them all, four in total. Loved the price as well, bought it on sale and it was delivered and set up by the technicians. I also have the Geek Squad Plan, also well worth it.

Another great TV by Sony. Looks amazing with the PS5 and also great with the PS4 Pro/Xbox Series S. Great sound quality for a TV, and amazing when paired with the Sony HT-A7000 system while utilizing the Center Sync cable. Colors are vibrant and the TV is extremely bright, good for any room lighting conditions. Overall I would certainly buy this TV again, but it is unlikely I will need to as it is constructed very well and with fantastic materials. The only negative I can think of with the overall experience with this TV is the remote included. While the remote is of great quality, it lacks a back light. Other countries had the backlit/metal version of the remote included. I bought one separately and would recommend doing so as it greatly improves the experience in darker rooms. When available, buy this TV with no hesitation. Also when available, buy the PS5. Paired together their is no better living room gaming combo. At 4K 120fps and only 8.5ms input lag at the 85 inch size I have is the best experience out today.

I've had a chance to view SONY's XR-X95J for about a month & half now and I have to say that I'm extremely impressed with the overall picture quality, brightness, contrast, & motion clarity of this TV. The enhancement's to SONY's flagship 4K LED TV this year (i.e. -> Cognitive Processor XR, XR Contrast Booster 10, XR Motion Clarity, etc) have created a significant improvement in overall viewing experience relative to SONY's flagship 4K LED model last year (-> X950H). While I would definitely say that I'm very happy with the X95J's overall performance, I must also state that I'm surprised & disappointed that SONY decided to drop the price of its 85" X95J by $500 only a little over a month after the company FINALLY started to ship this flagship model in August. It seems inherently wrong for a company to penalize a loyal customer who has supported its products for decades in this manner, and I would ask SONY corporation -> would your company be willing to provide a credit for the difference toward future SONY electronics purchases?

I’ve had this tv for just over a year and the quality is second to none. Sony Bravia continues as a leader in television supremacy. The colors are vivid and even the sound is great. I paired mine with the basic Bose sound bar and it’s a great home theater system.

Overall the tv is good. Motion is great. Colors are accurate out of the box with live color feature included to make colors more saturated if desired. Brightness is also very good coming from the lg c1 which was great overall but too dim for my liking.

Moving up from a Sony 75 940E and the 85 is not quite as bright as 940 but it makes up for that with a more CLEAR picture and the motion is better too. It has better off center viewing as well and it cost less than the 940E 4 years ago. Also Much BIGGER!

Love this TV! Blacks are dark and colors are vibrant! Haven't even felt the need to add a sound bar which is rare in this size. Used for tv, movies and sports and it's got a great picture and no lag. Don't game so not sure on that.

Have not been disappointed with picture quality. Coming from Sony 75-940D which was also a great set. Have in room with lots of windows and set gets plenty bright with good off angle viewing for a led TV. Happy customer so far.

This TV is exceptionally BRIGHT. handles motion, sports, action scenes flawlessly. I LOVED this TV. It gets significanly brighter than the Sony A90J OLED. So if youre in a brighter room, this is your better move to get this LED TV.

I purchased this model after doing some research and I was not disappointed. Both TV viewing as well as PS5 games look AMAZING. The TV is bright as the sun, the screen glare is minimal (a must for me due to the room the TV is located in, and the ease of use is excellent as well. I truly believe that you cannot get much better than this when it comes to a non-OLED TV. Again, OLED was not an option dur to the brightness of the room. I am VERY HAPPY with my purchase, I would absolutely recommend this TV, and I would make this purchase again without hesitation.

I bought the 85" tv and it offers a very nice picture in 2k and 4k content for LED. Colors are accurate. I like the smooth gradation and you can adjust the gradation unlike the X91J. Google smart platform is smooth and quick. I would've given it 5 stars but I have occasional issues with eArc connected to a Sony receiver and I loose the sound or picture and have to restart the tv or receiver. I got the tv for $3500 but the price is still too high. Aside from that, I like it and recommend it.

After waiting months of being delayed I finally received the TV that checked all my boxes. Granted the TV I really wanted and would have fit me better was the X90J in an 85-inch which Sony decided to discontinue this year. My other best option would have been the A80J which Sony decided not to make in an 83-inch either and I can't afford the A90J so the X95J was the option for me. Got the first one around 3 weeks ago and noticed dark screen uniformity clouding right away mainly in menus. This is because Sony disables local dimming in menus for some reason. In real world content local dimming makes the dark screen uniformity seem to disappear. Then I noticed a grid pattern in lighter scenes like the sky. Later I tried gaming on my PS5 and there was so much lag in game mode I couldn't even game on it. So I got an exchange a few days ago which fixed the lag issue in game mode. But the clouding with black uniformity is still there although not quite as apparent and the grid pattern in lighter scenes is noticeable in a lot of scenes especially if they are panning. Another reviewer that purchased the same 85-in size mentioned the clouding on his as well with pictures. Plus rtings mentioned dark screen uniformity issues as well so I'm not the only one. At this point I'm wondering if most TV's of this model have screen uniformity issues or if I was just very unlucky. These big TVs are a huge pain to send back and I'm really not looking forward to trying out a third one. Now on to the positives. I came from two LG OLED displays prior and was a bit worried about blooming since I always watch in a dark room with controlled ambient lighting. With local dimming on high it hasn't been an issue for me in real content. Even with a low count of dimming zones and low contrast ratios because of the anti-reflective coating the dimming algorithm does really well with keeping the screen dark with very little noticeable blooming. I still notice it just a little on occasion mainly in menus (Sony should allow local dimming to always be on) but it hasn't been bothersome for me. I like Google TV as the OS, and the picture processing from the XR processor is really good. The one negative on my LG OLEDs I didn't like was the stuttering from 24 FPS movie content that I was sensitive to. The X95J has definitely been better with motion since LCD displays are a little less prone to stuttering like OLED displays. Plus I have motion flow smoothness on 1. The LG OLED I had I didn't use interpolation to smooth out the picture because I don't like the soap opera effect. The upscaling and clear picture quality seems first rate on the TV. Build quality seems really good. Be careful not to smudge the screen though as on the first one I received I had a couple of fingerprint marks I tried to gently wipe off with a soft cloth and a little water which Sony tells you to do and it seemed to take off the anti-reflective coating I am a little disappointed that the 4 GB of RAM doesn't keep apps in memory for very long after you turn the TV off since I only use two or three. My shield TV has done a better job at keeping things in memory with only 3 gigabytes of RAM. Over all the TV UI is fast to scroll through. At this point I am at a crossroads. Sony supposedly has the best screen uniformity in the business and I have received 2 4k LCD flagship TV's in a row that have major screen uniformity issues. I've never returned any other TV in my life. Do I go for a third try hoping for the best or do I have to give the LG C1 a try since Sony doesn't give viable options of the X90J or a80j in the same 85-in size. The other thing I wanted to mention was the cost seems too high for what you get in the X95J compared to the competition as well as the X90J. I realize it has anti-reflective and wide viewing angles as well as a slightly upgraded speaker system. All of which aren't benefits for me personally. Plus the X90J has much higher contrast ratios for a much lower price along with the same processor. That's the TV I would have purchased if I only needed a 75-inch. If I end up getting a replacement that has better uniformity I will update my review as well as my rating. Ultimately if I didn't have bad screen uniformity issues I would have rated the TV at 4 stars only because I think it is a little overpriced for what you get compared to the competition but I still believe it is a great TV and would be happy to keep it.

GREAT TV GREAT PICTURE GREAT SOUND WOULD PURCHASE AGAIN

The 85” X95J is in a word, stunning. I tried the Samsung QN90A - forget that if you have a Sonos setup or any audio setup - the Samsung simply can’t output sound correctly. The X95J has a brilliant picture, the cognitive processor is amazing, the black levels are as good as you can get on a non OLED panel - without the worry of burn in. If you are on the fence, just know this TV will not disappoint.

The TV has a great picture and we are enjoying the increase. Size of the screen. We are not happy with the the interface between the TV AND the Dish Joey system the tech could not get the volume to work on our Tv control. This means we need to use three separate remotes This was sold as a smart TV ???.Also the TV WAS NOT MOUNTED LEVEL ITS OVER 1” low on one end THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE

Best 85" LED TV in my opinion. OLED is obviously better, but between the added cost, lack of brightness, and terrible glare, this tv is the way to go to me. Several online reviews rate Samsung qn90a as a better option because it's brighter, but I prefer the Sony cognitive xr processor for movie watching myself.
