Picture quality isn’t as good as samsung. Really not impressed with the resolution at all. The glare that you get on this TV is awful as well. If you have sun or lights in any direction, they reflect off of this tv like a mirror. I would say this TV is worth about $800.00. Not 4k+

Strange to have the TV timer off and it will still turn on occasionally. I am sure to turn that off a couple times and it will turn on the other day or some occasion morning. Scary movie??? Annoying

For the amount 8 have paid for this tv, I'm not thoroughly impressed. You could have gotten an LG or Samsung the same size or bigger with just about the same picture quality. I would not recommend getting this tv unless you dont care about the cost.

Within a year of purchase, we had to call Geek Squad out several times to troubleshoot the cause of this distracting loud popping noise while watching any program. We contacted Best Buys and Sony several times before our one year warranty expired and Sony still refused to replace. Geek Squad came out on several occasions - removed the back panel of the TV ... installed a suspension mechanism ... still to end up dealing with the same issue. The diagnosis was that heat suspension across the screen was causing this annoying loud noise. As of today - still facing the same issues.

    Expensive, but great!

I did a ton of research on 85 inch televisions before ultimately deciding on this Sony model. I truly hate to overspend on a product but at the same time as someone who loves to watch sports and movies I didn’t want to regret the picture quality for this purchase . I went into Best Buy to physically see and compare similar models but sometimes it’s hard because of the content they’re showing in the store is all hooked up to 4K shows and they all look great. Ultimately I decided on this purchase based off of similar reviews like this And understanding the technology that provides the picture quality. Fast forward I have had this TV for about a month and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase the picture jumps off the screen and the brightness is incomparable! I have a buddy who has an 82 inch Samsung and my picture quality is head and shoulders above his model. I hope this review helps others when deciding if the extra money is worth it.

Owned just over 2 years and now have a shot LED panel with red vertical line displaying. Of course, my 2-year protection just expired. I have cheap TVs all over my house that have worked for years, but not this one.

I went to Best Buy with the intention of buying an 82” Samsung that was in sale and cheaper than the 85” Sony that I ended up buying. I saw the Samsung and the sales guy went to go get everything together for my purchase. While I waited I sat down on the theater seats and this tv was on display. The picture quality was amazing and I just couldn’t help but switch over from the Samsung. Great tv amazing quality “affordable” compared to how expense 80”+ TVs used to be. This was outside of my budget by about $1000 but I have no regrets. My biggest issue was that this bad boy is obese, I don’t have any other large TVs to compare it to but he’s heavy. So make sure you have help when you’re mounting it..

    Outstanding Product!

This is one phenomenal TV! Picture quality is unsurpassed and the controls are very easy to manage. I did a lot of research on this product prior to purchasing and am not disappointed as I knew what to expect with this product. I was a bit concerned about the overall manageability of the remote (as it looked dated) but thus far it is performing flawless as well... so much for looks! One big plus is you can invert the stand (legs) if you desire the TV on a smaller platform. A few areas needing improvement includes addressing the 5G network performance as it is currently incompatible. I am also big into tweaking settings and do wish for a broader user spectrum. Also, the processor needs to be a bit quicker or perhaps the algorithms need improving (recently there was a update so this may be a mute point). Finally for a price tag of over $5K, this system truly needs better speakers. But in terms of this being a really good TV..it is just that, Really Good! My other contender was the new Samsung Q series, which is also nice and typically has a higher saturation of colors but the Sony provides a more natural color palette and is virtually the same in terms of specifications. I highly recommend the consumer doing their homework on a few reputable review sites, as this is a major purchase. I will add that the sales team and management staff at BB (Lake Mary) are fantastic! I am very particular and they answered all of my questions and were extremely transparent when it came to comparing this platform with others. I've never been disappointed with the team here! Good luck and I hope this helps.

Never owned anything but Sonys. Never was sorry I bought one, nor was I ever sorry I bought any of them from Best Buy. The same holds true for this model. I kinda wished the XBR-70X850B I bought four years ago hadn't suffered from a slight degree of backlight non-uniformity, better known as the flash lighting effect, but hey, it's still a knockout. Sony said they'd work on it and they came up with "full array backlighting" on this set and indeed, there's no sign of backlight non-uniformity, at least not in standard mode, plus the black levels are outta sight. There's a side-effect however to this full array backlighting that at least gives the illusion of blooming, which most HD aficionados consider taboo, and it may be a bit much for you at times (though rarely noticed as far as I'm concerned). If you go looking for it, you might see it during rolling credits now and then or when your Blu-ray player and TV have gone into screensaver mode. I suspect this perception of blooming might be the side-effect of this full array backlighting, which at times is quite active and seems to respond in zones, each one appearing to influence perhaps 1/20th or so of the screen (just a guess), depending on content. For example, this doesn't happen in every case but there may be a spaceship traveling through a starfield whereby the blackness of space behind it appears less black because the backlighting zone is attempting to illuminate the spacecraft. As I said it's not terribly obvious and it's no big deal for me but it might be for you. I suspect the future is in OLED but till their big screens become affordable, this'll do for me. Better than paying much higher prices for Sony's Z series, at least for now, especially considering you'd have to go to a 100" that costs as much as a house to get the perfection you or I may be looking for. Understand, this is a very fine TV considering its size and affordable price, and Sony, at least in my experience, has always been very reliable.
