Bought this 85" X91J tv at best buy on May 30th have not set up our back living room yet so tv has less than 15 hours of viewing and there are black and white lines running all through the screen. We were recommended to buy this as my SIL has one and has not had any issues. I am disappointed. We bought this on sale and I read upon doing the return if we purchased this on a promotional deal we can't get the promotion anymore and the TV has gone up in the 5 days we've had it. I am really unhappy with this situation and not sure if I will purchase another or anything from Best Buy if that's the case. It is not my problem the tv is defective.

This TV was delivered to my front door by BestBuy employees for free! That was a great start. Let me just say that this TV is a behemoth. It weighs over 100 lbs, so make sure you are ready for that. The TV arrived in perfect condition and was packaged very well. Right out of the box the picture was pretty good. The Full Array LEDs make the picture very bright, but the blacks are inky and dark. I ended up mounting it on my wall and it was very easy to install the brackets. The X91J has Atmos support and pass-through which is nice but I really enjoy the 120hz at 4k. For you Xbox Series X/S users, this TV can support either Dolby Vision OR 120hz 4k..but not both at once. The remote is pretty straight forward and my wife loves the voice command functionality. I spent the better part of a few hours calibrating the color and it looks amazing. This is one of the higher end Sony TVs and it shows.

Got replacement but the replacement lasted 3 months and had the same issue

I had considered this, last years 900h, and the 75" x90j. I was about to buy the x90j and this went on sale. This display is used for streaming services, and gaming - ps5, ps4, and a switch. Ultimately I chose this because of some firmware issues on the 900h that cause 4k 120hz blurriness for PS5 games - look at reddit, search youtube for Vincent Teoh, etc for details. It seemed in the limited reviews that are out there that this years x90j/x91j did a bit betterin that regard. My thoughts were if it was going to be fixed via firmware, there would be a better chance of getting that update on 2021 model. Last years tv's are still waiting on ALM and VRR updates as far as I can tell. This TV didn't ship with ALM or VRR either - so same deal - newer model, better chance at firmware? Regardless of that - this tv is amazing. Setup was easy - wall mounting with 3-4 people was a challenge, but once up it was all worth it. Image is great, great brightness, clarity, even the tv speakers are semi-decent if you need to use them. Our install location would make an OLED and a glossy screen a challenge - this display has more of a matte (but not quite) finish and does a great job at reducing reflections. My receiver is old so some sources plugged in via that aren't 4k, but the tv does an amazing job of upscaling - its more than adequate while I shop to update some of my other components. We are Roku fans - and this tv has Google TV on it. From what I can tell so far its going to do everything we want - except on killer Roku feature (and maybe its there, just need to get used to it) - Roku can search for a title and show it across many services - so if a movie shows up on a free service, a different rental, and a different subscription - you'd see all three results. Google TV shows results for its services - with the shift from Google Play Movies - I guess its Youtube results for rental and purchase. It could be once I log into my other services (Netflix, HBO Max, etc) it will incorporate more results - but for the time being it its not as user friendly. You can read all the tech details on this display - 4k, hdr, 120hz, etc. I can say with things I've tested - its a great performer. If you are in the market for a large screen in this price range, this tv should be on your short list - its a winner!

If you're thinking about it just buy it! The TV is crisp, colors are great, software is good and Google TV is a nice to have. The blacks on this TV are BLACK, probably as black as you can get outside an OLED. It's incredibly noticeable how black the blacks are. So much so that I forgot what blacks look like on a TV until I turned this one on and said to myself "Wow, that's black". Those trying to decide, I originally got the X85J which was a nice TV in it's own right and the price was right so that was my choice, but the X85J was not full array. Soon after I bought the X85J the X91J went on sale for only $100 more. I went ahead and purchased the X91J mostly for it's full array feature. The X85J was nice and I turned it on and I liked it, better than my old TV, for sure an improvement. When the X91J was delivered and I turned it on, there was a WOW moment! When I saw the X91J picture it was amazing, you could see an obvious upgrade from the X85J... the full array helps a lot!!! Love this TV right now. Somethings about it are annoying, like how it controls my soundbar and at times the soundbar doesn't turn on so I have to power on and off the TV but this is probably fixable if I do some research. Last thing, if you do your research you may find people talking about the blooming on this TV. The is none, I haven't noticed a bit of blooming, just clear and crisp. This is the TV you want, it true to color.

I believe this is one of Sony's top LED TV's in the lineup, given that it offers full array local dimming, which helps deliver excellent picture quality. Color accuracy is great and dark scenes are close to inky. We watch mostly the major streaming services (movies and shows), YouTube TV (shows and sports) and YouTube. I would say that as long as the content you're viewing is at least 720p, it will look acceptable. When you're viewing 1080p content, it's starting to look good. And then of course, if you're viewing 4K content, that's when the TV really shines. Sports on YouTube TV, which is generally shown in 720p or 1080p, leaves something to be desired. The TV looks like it's trying to keep up with the action and you'll often see the trailing motion blur of a football or soccer when it is passed. It might be better with a 4K feed, but I have not been able to check yet. The Google TV operating system is definitely easier to use than Samsung's Tizen TV operating system. It is well-integrated with YouTube TV. The only downside is that the Google TV O/S isn't always snappy (Tizen on my Samsung Q70A is actually faster) can sometimes lock up and the TV has to be hard reset. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this TV and likely those that have followed it in subsequent years (2022 - X90K, 2023 - X90L).

I was torn between this TV and the A80J 77" OLED. I really love OLED technology, but in the end decided the larger size and lower price were the way to go. Watching this TV is truly an experience: the colors are vibrant and image is sharp. No lag to speak of when playing Xbox and the blacks are darker than I thought possible short of OLED. I'm looking forward to enjoying this TV for years to come. Geek Squad mounting and setup was top notch too.

This TV is huge! Definitely a three person process to lift it on the wall. Love the TV so far. Great picture and the speakers are decent out of the box. I like all of the smart features and the ability to log in to all of the providers (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) without an external box (Roku). I would highly recommend this TV if you have a large room and you are considering a projector. Get this instead. It does have some issue with glare, so it may be best to put it in a darker room.

Wow. Just wow. I did a ton of research before settling on this TV. I'm *not* a fan of Sony, so I was reluctant to purchase just on the brand alone. However, after weeks of research, and considering my budget, the next most comparable TV was $1200 more. This looks absolutely beautiful mounted to the wall. I've only noticed the backlight "blooming" a couple of times (the Vudu loading/looping ball being the worst offender). Even test patters on YT looked great. It took some dialing in of the settings (seriously, turn off most of the smoothing and motion settings, but fine tune some of the others - there are plenty of guides on YT). If you're thinking of pulling the trigger and catch this on sale, DO IT. You won't regret it. With that said, it's 110'ish lbs, so make sure you get the appropriate wall mount and have a friend to help. May wanna grab a protection plan as well; that's a LOT of delicate surface area to protect.

I am a previous user of a Samsung Q8F 65". When I moved I wanted to purchase something larger. Best Buy Home Theater staff recommended I try Sony over Samsung for the specific needs I have. What an absolutely fantastic recommendation. I started with the X85J, but ultimately upgraded to this model because I wanted the deeper blacks of the Full Array. Both the X85J and the X91J are fantastic models, but I would definitely suggest springing for the X91J. The blacks are only bested by OLED and the color quality is amazing. Further, the Google TV interface is second to none. I have tried many smart tv setups and Google TV is by far the best. 10/10 would recommend, absolutely worth the money.
