This is my first sony camera and my first full frame camera and if im being honest it's a great camera. If you're not shooting video and just taking photos the battery life is good. The video quality is great and when you pair that with a great lens even better. It's not difficult to use and if you're a hybrid shooter (photo and video) then you should definitely check this camera out. just wanted to also mention that I dont have the silver version of this camera but I do have the black version.

Good grade for those with a crop sensor camera!

This review is written from the perspective of an enthusiast photographer/videographer upgrading from a crop sensor camera. The Sony a7C offers a lot of power in a body nearly the same size as the a6xxx series. For those who are on the fence about whether to purchase this or not that ultimately depends on what your needs and intended uses are, as any tech review would say. My only comparison is with the a6600 camera, and my review will look at the major points why this is a worthy upgrade for my uses. If you're a person looking to do like doing video work and some travel photography, this may be a camera worth considering. MAIN POSITIVES: The full-frame sensor allows for some great images even with ISOs up to 12800. Because I prefer working with natural light in often uncontrollable areas, this means I can still get good photos even when the sun is about to set. This won't let you shoot in the darkest of nights, but if that is your intention you may want to consider another camera. One of the other main features besides the full frame sensor is the articulating screen. Aside from obvious examples such as vlogging, this also helps for taking low or high angle photos. Consider though that if you're primarily shooting photos and very little video, you may also want to consider other options as well. All things considered, this camera does many things in a small package. This size and feel seems very similar to the Sony a6400 and a6300 judging by the size of the grips. At the same time this uses the larger capacity batteries found in Sony's full frame lineup so you know you're good to go for most of the day with a fully charged battery (but carry a spare just in case!). Because of this, I can see myself bringing this with me in a small bag for travel photography or most everyday uses. If I need more low-light capabilities, I look forward to purchasing an a7SIII down the line. MAIN DISADVANTAGES: There are still some noticeable disadvantages I've noticed coming from the APS-C line, however. While none of this is enough to convince me to dislike the camera, I feel it's important that it is mentioned. The first of which has to do with the grip. If you have relatively long fingers like myself, you may find the short grip uncomfortable. It is indeed shorter than the a6600, despite the two cameras using the same type of battery. Since I use a cage on my a7C, this problem is slightly alleviated when I also adjust my grip so only my index finger and middle are on the a7C grip and my ring finger is resting on the cage. Aside from the small grip, the older Sony menu system is still present here. For those who are already used to Sony's old menu systems (prior to a7SIII), this won't be too bad but this may confuse newcomers. Also adding to this is the lack of additional Custom Buttons coming from the a6600. Part of the beauty of the custom buttons was the ability to have shortcuts to your desired functions, so you wouldn't have to dive deep into the menu systems as often. While there are two buttons I currently use (the trash bin and d-pad down), additional custom buttons would be appreciated. You may also find the Menu button awkwardly placed because it's in the middle and serves as the "previous page" in the menus, but this hasn't bothered me too much. LAST THOUGHTS: Despite all this, I still would highly recommend the camera for those who are looking to upgrade from their crop sensor cameras and like to shoot primarily video. The lack of a joystick might deter some who use it to move their focus point in photography, but I find that using the touchscreen to tap or slide your focus point is plenty useful. Dare I say I might even grow to like this method more than using a joystick? The EVF is also somewhat small and does not include an eyecup in the box, but for my uses I haven't found this to be an issue. If you wear glasses this might be slightly problematic though. Thank you for reading!

Best camera hands down If you can only afford one lens get the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 it’ll be all you need for video and photo You get the 28, 35, 50, and 75mm focal lengths all at a sharp f2.8 The autofocus on this camera is insanely fast AND as a bonus when it comes to video you can adjust the autofocus speed which means when you have it at a low speed it’ll look like you’re naturally pulling focus giving you a clean cinematic look without the worry of mistakes It takes amazing video especially with the new color science Shoots up to 4K 24 (which is all you should be shooting in if it’s not slow motion) A lot of people like to complain that it doesn’t shoot 4k60 but that’s why they came out with the a7siii and let’s be honest 4K files are still super huge and take up a lot of space 24 frames is all you need right now and at 100M (you’re spoiled) But if you do want sexy slow mo it also shoots 120fps in Full HD :) The colors straight out of the camera are BEAUTIFUL 24mp FULL FRAME sensor The flippy screen every sony user’s been waiting for without the $4000 price tag of the a7siii And most of all the small form factor!! If you have the money, the Sony 35mm 1.8 is the perfect pair for this camera in terms of portability and sharpness and the quality you get from such a small package will leave you speechless! If you’re thinking about buying, buy it!

The Sony a7C is the smallest full-frame interchangeable lens camera available today. Its body is closely resembling the APS-C sensor a6600, but it is a 24MP full-frame sensor, and has image stabilization in it. I would say this camera is the miniature version of a7 III with better autofocus, capable to shoot in low-light and shallow depth-of-field, and has all the familiar features of a7III. When comes to video its video function is far better than its big brother of A7III. This is the best full frame camera for traveling that Sony ever made. I bought it for that purpose. When paired it with Sony 20mm f/1.8 lens, it creates a desirable vlogging package that can produce 4k image quality, and also to take superb still photography where other Sony big brother of cameras can produce.

This is THE camera I will be recommending to new photographers who want to get into photography, sony, or just mirrorless in general if they don’t already have a more professional grade camera. The only flaws this camera has are the following. 1) Very small viewfinder (acceptable) with a non removable, shallow eyecup (not acceptable as the unit it is an upgrade from the a6400 has the same viewfinder with a removable eyecup in the same location) which makes it difficult to use in bright situations because of light getting in around the eyecup 2) Only one card slot. Not wise in a camera used for primarily weddings, graduations, or other one off events that can’t be reset if the card fails. Overall however it’s an amazing starting camera, better in almost all ways (except the two mentioned) over the a7III. Same Sensor, Same Battery, but better power management, unlimited video record time, better color science, and best of all no overheating. Well done.

This camera is perfect for people looking for a more affordable option within the Sony video cameras. It is able to shoot up to 30 fps at 4k which is enough for me. If you want a higher fps you will have to drop the quality to 1080p so if that a deal breaker I would go with a different module. Low light capabilities is great and image quality for stills is just what I need!

If you've owned the a6000 series or a fan of the Sony Alpha line, the A7C is the camera for you. I've owned the majority of the cameras and the A7C is a mash-up of an A6000 + A7 camera. The best of both worlds! Compact and puts out beautiful images. It's a great camera for traveling and blogging. It's also the perfect Sony Alpha camera for street photography so you can blend into your environment without being noticed. So far, this is my favorite Sony Camera, especially if you're talking about "bang for the buck".

Full Frame pics, but with interchangeable lenses and better AF than A7iii it is based on, but with worse viewfinder and not having a 2nd SD card slot. Still, nice to have when you watch that extra bokeh or low light capability in a smaller and lighter package.

As a professional cinematic vlogger, this camera is hands down my favorite purchase. It is so compact and light, while holding so much processing power. The quality is insane and I get asked what camera I use every video. It looks like real life. All the features work well and it never overheats, great for any hobbyist or small videographer.

This camera may only be a limited model. Buy it now while it’s still available. This camera could be one that’s put on hold by Sony due to shortage of needed manufacturing materials. To be clear it doesn’t have dual card slots. Though I struggled with that I decided that it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. I’ve used numerous Sony cameras ranging from 6000 Crop to 7riv Fullframe. My opinion is this camera is a perfect blend for compact design, functionality and also has powerful performance capabilities. I used this camera on a trip and primarily used it on the go for night photography as well as day use. Totally happy with the images and user experience. Important to note that video imaging was excellent as well as photo images! I highly recommend it. If you’re looking for a camera in this price point it has a full frame sensor and Sony’s newer technology. It’s newer than the other Sony’s at this price. If you’re an APS-C user with lots APS-C lenses this camera will still allow you to make good use of those lenses.

I was excited when this was announced, don't really like heavy systems, and this being full frame I had to get it. Definitely like the new screen being able to tilt even further, only complain is I wish they had put in the two sd card slots like they do with the a7iii especially for the price, but been happy with this camera regardless !

Bought this as a full-frame upgrade to my Sony a6000, and a lighter alternate to my Nikon D600. I really like it, there are great improvements in the viewfinder, the autofocus is fast (in both a Sony 85mm lens and two Rokinon wide angle lenses). It has a larger video button than the a6000, a great improvement. I saw a review that complained that becuase the camera was slightly larger than the a6xxx models, the handgrip had become too small, but I find no problem with the body. The flip out and twist screen helps a lot when shooting video; with stills I only use it for extreme high and low shots when I can't get the eye to the viewfinder. The Sony menus are still pretty convoluted, so it's worth spending the time to learn how you want to set things and how to load them into favorites.
