I will start off by saying this is not a DSLR. the flr does have fun features and more abilities for those looking to become a more advanced user. However this still camera gives you a lot of great features, and its still is small enough to almost be a pocket camera. The lens obviously prohibit that. just some of the features, that I love about this camera include its wifi connect ability. Long my pictures waisted away on my digital camera or memory card without them being actually shown. Now with the ability to send them to my computer or to my smartphone that is no longer an issue. add to that brilliant picture quality and ease of use, I can't complain. Great camera.

We are just average parents that wanted to take pictures of our kids during their activities, especially sports as well as vacation photos. The quality of the photos are fantastic and the different settings are easy to understand and quick to change based on what you are shooting. The quality of the action photos are great as well. With our previous camera most of the action shots were blurry. Rarely, if ever, are these blurry. The one downside is that if you want to take any photos from a distance, like the other side of the playing field, you really have to purchase the extra lens for the quality to be worthwhile. But the lenses are easy to switch and easy to use. Overall we are extremely pleased with the camera.

I was looking for a small, high quality camera to take on backpacking trips + travelling. This mirrorless camera is the perfect size and weight for that, and so powerful for its size and price point. It's easy to use for amateur photographers, and images turn out amazing even just left on automatic mode. I am extremely impressed, and happy with this purchase! I wish Sony made a camera case for this particular camera.

I have always wanted to get into photography and videography. I never really knew where to start and after some research, I decided to start here. This camera hit almost everything I wanted: compact in size for easy traveling, flip up selfie screen to make vlogging easy, interchangeable lens, good in low light, and so on. I havent had any problems with the camera overheating, though I am having trouble with the camera slowing down and making my photos come out fuzzy. I dont know if its a temperature thing or what, but definitely taking into geek squad when I get the chance. It is still a GREAT camera. I am very pleased with it, despite the issue I am having. Well worth the money!

was looking at canon rebel, i saw this, the sony has touch screen, tilting screen, wifi built in and the wifi not only transfers the photos it can do wifi to tv and or computer as well as sony has a remote app you can you use your smartphone as a remote through wifi. fast focus, i like how it is easy too, and of course the obvious is i is compact.

I love this little camera! I'm loving the image quality this camera produces and it has been easy for me to learn. I bought it to take pictures of my daughter. I love its size and the flip screen. I'm also using it with the Sony 50mm f1.8 lens as well. Perfect for portrait photography just beginning. The wifi compatibility is so easy to use for ease of posting on social media or editing on my phone. I definitely recommend this camera!

East to use, takes great pictures but the only bad thing about it is the battery takes so long to charge.

I love this camera! I'm not a camera expert and that's why I love that the A5100 is so easy to use! the flip up screen is perfect for vlogging cause you see exactly what you're recording! the quality of the picture is also amazing, almost like a DSLR! I definitely want to get an extra battery and a battery charger, cause you can only charge the battery while it's inside the camera

I've had this camera for two weeks now and I'm still in love!! So far, so great. Once you play around with your settings and get things like ISO and aperture to your liking this camera is BOMB. It's known for its skin softening effect (catfish effect) but I'm not a fan. Image stabilization is good not great, like if I'm recording and moving a lot, sometimes the image lags, but it does fix itself pretty quickly. It also overheats if your recording for more than 10 mins which is highly annoying. However, once you let it cook down for 10-15 mins you're good to go. It takes beautiful pictures, like the quality and color payoff is amazing. Overall I would definitely recommend to anyone just starting out in the camera world.

After much research I decided on the Sony a5100. I bought mine open box, I honestly would have never been able to tell. The a5100 is imo the best camera for the beginner dslr’er, the qualility and improvement of my photos have been astounding. The standard lens is decent but not quite perfect it’s a good all around, learn what your doing lens. I do plan on moving up to the Sony a6300 at some point, but I really doubt I will ever get rid of the a5100. There is just something nice about the balanced low weight of the a5100.

I've only had this camera one day, but it was so worth the price. I can't tell you how much I love the picture quality and features of this camera. It is a bloggers dream! I'm not super camera savvy but I looked at a lot of reviews and demos of this and it holds true to its reputation.

This camera is clear to the eye. It's very compact and convienant. If you are purchasing for social media pictures, it's a great tool. If your more in depth with recording videos, keep in mind this does not have a clear microphone. It's kind of muffled. Also, your not able to attach an external microphone. Great for a beginner.

I LOVE my Sony A5100! I saved up and researched extensively before buying. I am beyond happy with the quality, size, weight and functionality of this camera. I bought it for the flip screen and video for my YT channel. LOVE it. Video and pic quality is amazing. Speed is great too. No waiting between shots.

This camera takes great pictures! I love the size and weight of the camera. I went in to buy a dslr and sales person convinced me to get this. I knew and still don't know anything about cameras but I knew I wanted to Vlog and take pictures of friends and family. It is great for that quality is awesome and I love that I can send the pictures right to my phone wirelessly!!!! Don't really understand the settings but I am gonna find some classes to take to get better aquatinted.

Awesome camera to have weather you're a beginner, or some one who's been into cameras for years! Small enough to carry around but good enough quality to make you feel like your shooting/recording with a big DSLR...the only down side is it does overheat a little if you record in XAVC S mode for a longer than like 5 min at a time, but no problem for me

Pros: 1. Great price and features for anyone just upgrading from point-and-shoot models. 2. Amazing photo and video quality, decent internal audio for vlogging. 3. Lightweight and small size. Cons: 1. Overheats after ~15 minutes of continuous video recording. Do NOT buy this camera if you plan to record long videos. 2. No in-body image stabilization makes for some shaky videos. The a5100 is wonderful cheap starter camera, and I used it mainly for filming Youtube videos and vlogs. Picture/video quality was amazing and I had decent sound. Best of all I loved the flip-up screen which made vlogging and framing shots so easy. However the camera would overheat after ~15 minutes of recording, and would stop every 2-3 minutes after that, which was not ideal for my needs. Don't get me wrong, it's still a wonderful camera, but is best suited for short video bursts (2-5 minutes) and vlogging if you have very steady hands or plan to use this on a gimbal. If you want to take still photos only or need a b-roll camera, this is an amazing choice.

Bought this for more video then pictures. Works great love it, has a great flip screen for vlogging, you may want to get an extra battery. Easy to use for beginners.

It produces very clear videos whether in motion or in a single location. It’s lightweight, easy to mount and fun to use. Do be careful/aware of the overheating issue while filming though, especially during sunlight exposure because the camera will stop until cooled down and depending on the situation this can be a huge potential problem.

The upgrade to the now discontinued Sony Nex-5t. It has an amazing number of speedy focus points and a useful zoom lever on the shutter button. The LCD screen rotates 180 degrees for selfies and has preset filter-like apps and image enhancement options. I find the ability to connect to your phone or tablet a really neat feature to transfer images and even the ability to adjust camera options via phone including remote picture taking. Additionally, it is wifi enabled to download apps that provide a growing number of in camera enhancement and control options. It has the flash attached, which is definitely an upgrade from the Nex, although the need for it is limited as it has a really high ISO for low light pics! The only drawback from the previous version is the touchscreen. Touchscreen options are limited to snapping shots and subject focus while in viewfinder mode. You are able to make selections via touch while in other screens. I am very satisfied with the image quality and the functionality of this camera. If you are looking for a camera that takes wonderful pictures, is simple to use, and is highly portable, this is the camera for you.
