If you're tired of having Canon and Nikon shoved down your throat, give Sony aka digital Minolta a try. Big sensor for richer imagery, better ease of use, snazzy accessories. I don't like that they switched from the hot shoe's original auto-lock feature for external accessories, but a reasonably priced sony conversion adapter solves that issue. Ok Sony, cut the check, lol.

First, this is your best bang for the buck. Excellent picture quality on a DLSR/SLT for less than $500. As usual with Sony SLT cameras, video is excellent and the fast auto focus shines. For music performances, I added a Zoom H1 and it was perfect for a superior sound as the Alpha 58 has a mic input.

I got this as a gift and got to use it before I gifted it. The camera is great and I have always Sony's. This was the first SLR that I have ever purchased and it was very to get familiar with. The auto focus is extremely fast and sharp.

I'm just a beginner but this camera has been wonderful. It is easy to use and figure out. I'm still learning all the features but I have a book to help figure everything out.

I purchased this camera to replace a Sony Alpha camera that was several years old. It was a fairly easy transition since many of the menus are similar. I took the new camera on vacation and was very pleased with the photos. There a numerous features on the camera that will take a while to learn, but I believe that it was a good choice for a DSLR.

I have always liked Sony Products! This camera does the job. It has a great picture and video quality. The attachments are endless, and for the price its one of the best DSLR's!

Wanted a DSLR camera to shoot photos of models that I build for architecture school. I needed something that gave me better control of the final product, but at a reasonable price. This camera did just that and it takes great photographs.

Upgraded from a Sony 55a to the 58a with a newer 55mm-300mm zoom. The 58a camera viewfinder is much sharper, especially with the newer zoom on. The camera is also lighter than the 55a. You will need to buy a converter to use the 55a flash attachments on the 58a due to a change in the flash connection on the newer model. However, the converters are under $30. Great camera and long lasting battery.

I originally bought this camera, and my boyfriend had a point and shoot. He saw how awesome mine was so he bought the same one. So nice we had to buy twice :)

The camera is awesome and takes amazing photos and i would recommend this to anyone just starting out or just looking for a good DSL camera

Takes great photos at 21 mp which is a lot better than some of the other cameras at this price range.

This is a super easy to use camera, very compact and very accurate on focusing even in low light. Great camera for a beginner and at a very good price, that wont break the bank.

This camera takes an excellent quality photo. I have currently only scratched the surface on the possible setup options and taken pretty standard photos, but this camera does a good job. I am not a fan of the Sony software to manage photos, it seems to be more of a nuisance when attempting to move photo files around on the computer.

I have always wanted a DSLR camera and after lots of research this was my choice! I love it! Sony has such a good history and this camera has many similar features as my Sony point and shoot! Easy to use and learn and takes amazing pictures!!!
