Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Alpha a6000's camera quality, ease of use, and compact size, frequently praising its lightweight design. Many also appreciate the camera's features and find it offers good value for the price. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and low-light performance and autofocus could be more reliable. The telephoto lens's autofocus functionality has also received some criticism.

Beautiful photos with light and easy handling

I went into Best Buy shopping for a new SLR. I had never considered a mirror-less camera, and did not know anything about them. I had reservations, believing an SLR was the only way to go for clear beautiful photos, but I was tired of lugging around heavy cameras in order to get great photos. My Best Buy salesmen showed me the Sony A6000, answered my many questions, and assisted me in trying out the camera in the store. I was impressed with its ease of use, comfortable design for handling, and the amazing clarity of the photos with this camera. The price for the bundle with the camera, zoom and case was great, too. I decided to give it a go. I am very glad I did!. This camera is awesome! We vacationed in the mountains of Poland, and I was able to take beautiful photos of the gorgeous countryside, castles, and people of the quaint villages and towns. Colors were clear and bright, lighting crisp, and I didn't have to set a thing. No more finding the 'party scene' setting, or 'sunset' settings. Point and click. Beautiful! While I did not use the long lens extensively I did occasionally switch lenses to capture distant views, or detail on buildings. The lens was much lighter than other zoom lenses I had, making it easy to work with. I was able to comfortably capture clear, crisp details. I love the camera's option for multiple frame shooting- in low, mid and high speed, to capture movement so clearly. The camera takes several photos in sequence -slow or fast.. I've had a multi-frame feature with other cameras, but never as easy to use as on the A6000. The mutlipoint autofocus on this camera is amazing. Everything is perfectly clear without having to do a lot of work to get there. So easy. This camera also shoots very clear and smooth video. I will say that I wish the video camera button were in a different place- on the top or the back of the camera. Its located on the right side edge near the top, which is awkward. I took some short videos a few times before I realized I was filming. It's also a tad awkward to stop filming because of the button location. Having used an SLR for years, I didn't think I would use the screen on the back to shoot much, but found it was very easy to do, I was able to comfortably toggle back and forth using the eye viewfinder or the screen as needed. And I wear glasses, and that did not matter at all. This camera is very comfortable to use. The tilt feature on the screen in back is terrific for shooting in awkward spaces, capturing a different angle, or when one can't put the camera to one's eye. I didn't explore all its many features yet- but i just uploaded my over 3000 photos taken over our 2 week vacation, and wow! I love this camera! I'm so glad I bought the large SD card! Thanks, Best Buy!

I love this Camera and I got the Kit with Sony Bag and Extra Lens 55-210 Zoom , I sold my D5300 Nikon, and this camera blows it away, and with the Sony Play Memories Apps you can get for it, I was able to do Time Lapses that move! Pan, Zoom etc.., and All kinds of other nifty programs you can buy, like Star Trails, Fun! and the Pictures blow my mind! The Kit Lens is Just Awesome, don't let people tell you that they just think every kit lens sucks, go on Facebook and look up the sony A6000 group, over 11,000 members and see their pictures with kit lens, just amazing, most popular Camera out there I believe.. Mirrorless! is the way to go, glad i did not invest in Nikon lenses, but you can buy and adapter and use other brand lenses with this camera!!

This camera is so much smaller than a DSLR, the mirrorless is definitely the way to go! I love that it came with the super long lens and normal lens too! Got this as a special offer with discount, memory card, camera bag, and more. The value was excellent, without having to over spend. Love the quality and so easy to learn/use!

I love mirrorless cameras. This one continues my love for them. before I get to the good stuff, here is one thing that went wrong with my camera. By no means this issue would change my mind on this camera. I love it still. during a photoshoot, my shutter gave out and gave an error message. Sony upheld their warranty on it and is currently being fix. now onwards to the meat of the review. 1) Photo quality is fantastic 2) Video quality clear and crisp 3) camera built-in mind I was worried but it worked better than expected. I still recommend a boom mic but if you are on a budget, the intenal mic is good. The camera has a program to reduce the wind noise 4) action shots was this camera main reason to exist. takes amazing shot. 5) the camera is light weight and the lens availability for this camera is endless! especially with the additional A-mount adaptors. if you want start taking photos for fun or to learn the camera's physics (iso, shutter, exposure, etc.) this camera will be great. it doesn't hurt your bank account too much like others but you get high quality photos that I believe is comparable to canon, Nikon and others in their respective tiers.

I was looking for a light, easy to use camera for traveling. I did some research and the Sony a6000 was still rated as a high buy after being on the market 5 yrs. This camera takes amazing 24mp shots and has a ton of features. Easy to transfer photos wirelessly too. The 55mm to 210mm lens that came with the bundle was perfect for the long range photos taken in the Mts of AZ & UT. Great price great camera and I highly recommend as a purchase.

This camera bundled with the two lenses was just what I needed to get my creative juices flowing. Once you read the manual and feel comfortable with the buttons, you can easily choose auto modes and manual modes to take full advantage of focal length, shutter speeds and apertures. The bundle included a package with camera supplies incuding a shutter release remote (super handy), lens cap secure and other handy gadgets. It is so much smaller and lighter than some other dsl cameras.

I am new to photography, and I love this camera.I bought this as my first interchangeable lens camera. I chose the bundle/kit, which came with the 50mm and 210mm. You won't be disappointed. Small enough to carry around with the lens I have. I'm addicted and have acquired a few more lenses and some gear for it. Also necessary for those just starting out is a separate battery charger pack with two back-up batteries - worth it and it even comes with European adapter. I don't have any complaints, but don't know enough about photography to really give this any more of a detailed review for now. I've forced myself to shoot manual and read about how cameras work and this is a really fun camera to work with. I've come pretty far and enjoy the fact that I can be lazy in some situations and use the various auto settings. Overall, it is a quality camera with tons of features and flexibility. The camera grip provides a secure hold with one hand. The left mounted viewfinder makes for easy viewing without nose smudges on the LCD. Build quality is solid and tight with no squeaky plastic sounds when you grip the camera. An industry standard hot shoe tops the camera. It has the standard electrical contact for use with other brand flashes in addition to having the Sony proprietary contacts for use with Sony microphones or lights. Overall, I can't rave about the a6000 enough. It is as close to the perfect beginner camera as you can get. Affordable, loaded with features, great image quality.

This is a great camera, packs small for when we’re out hiking, lightweight compared to my Canon and has a lot of different options available. Now I just have to learn my way through all of them! I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a lightweight versatile camera that takes great pictures!

Semi professional amature friendly mirrorless camera. Dont worry about outgrowing this camera for some time. While there are a couple features this camera doesnt have that i wish it did (as far as still photography) iim still 110% satisfied with the quality and features of this unit. Its been on the market for some time now (3 and half years) and still is a contender with the other offerings. So many built in features. Very easy to use as a typical point and shoot with very fast and smart automatic settings...tons of available customizations for the more advanced manual shooter. Cant go wrong here. The value is tremendous!

I'm by no means a professional photographer, but I wanted to start learning more about the art. These Sony Mirrorless systems have essentially the same sensors as their DSLR counterparts, but are a lot smaller and lighter and you aren't paying as much for the name as you are with Cannon and Nikon. The package deal with the 16-50mm and 55-210mm lenses is basically everything you need to get started. I picked up a Pelican 1200 Protector Case to go with it and was able to fit both lenses and the camera with room for the charging cable and strap.

Love the camera and all the features it offers. I have to give it 4 stars because I had to get the first camera exchanged since it crashed and did not take any pictures. Other than that, it’s amazing and packed with features for a surprisingly low price.

I am an amateur. The Sony alpha 6000 almost takes the shots for you. It has many features and is easy to learn how to use. I was going to get the 6500. I'm glad I saved $1,000 and started with this one. There is room to grow into it and much to learn. It takes beautiful shots.

This is a nice camera with good features. Only downside is that software is not that great. When using continuous shooting (5 or 11 fps) images loose focus. The auto focus also is not that much great. Once you turn manual focus mode and learn to use it then the image quality that we git is amazing. When i first got the camera on my first trip i almost wasted all the pictures that I took due to poor focusing. In few days i got used to manual focus and controls and the resulting pictures were much better than what i see with similar priced DSLR. I believe Canon has better software and auto focus processing. If at end of the day you like a DSLR quality images and does not care about the high FPS iamges then this is a good buy.

I took back my canon rebel T6 for this sony mirrorless camera and I couldn't be happier. The megapixels are far superior and it is a whole lot easier to use. I can take pictures of my kids while running and they don't look like a blur. It's not heavy even when I change to a bigger lens. Although the price difference is about 400 dollars more than the Canon, it's totally worth it. I would just advise to get the extended warranty thru Best Buy in case of anything. Spills you're covered, you dropped it and it broke you're covered. Protect your investment and get the warranty. Thank you Sony and Thank YOU Chase at Best Buy in Cypress, TX for helping us pick this amazing camera, we couldn't be happier!

I love doing street photography, but when I walk around with my Canon Mark II D5, people shy away, or look angry that I am photographing them. I researched mirrorless cameras and Sony - Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm and 55-210mm Lenses was the highest rated for a beginning mirrorless camera. I don't want to invest thousands of dollars into another camera when I already have a great full frame camera. I like this Sony camera a lot. It is so easy to carry and use that I have been carrying it around every day almost as part of my clothing. This way I don't miss photo opportunities. It does not take the quality photos that my Canon does, but it does take pretty good photos, and the price was reasonable. I have produced a few slide show type films with this camera and the images are good enough for Youtube.
