wish it was a little cheaper, bought it when it was slightly on sale, overall im satisfied with the camera, hoping to go full frame down the road, but this is a great camera for travels. if you get one good all around lens thats all you need, but then again it depends on what and how you like to shoot.

This little guy is extremely capable for photos and video. As much as I love it of course nothing is perfect, rolling shutter, overheating and terrible battery life definitely cause a bit of heart burn but all of these things can be easily countered with proper planning.

I bought this Camera almost a year ago and it has been good to me ever since. I main use this as my main camera to film weddings. The low light capabilities and the IBIS make this ideal for weddings. This paired with the Sigma 30mm, 16mm, 18-105 F/4, or the 50mm 1.8 yield very high quality images.
Negatives would be the battery life is not great when shooting in 4K and the screen dims so it's hard to see in bright light.
Would highly recommend.

I did a bit of research before making this purchase. I switched from an 'entry level' Canon DSLR to what I consider to be a semi-pro mirrorless. I chose the a6500 because of the in body image stabilization (IBIS), the ability to use my canon lenses (with the purchase of an adapter), and the 'eye focus.'
So far, I am amazed. I get shots that my old Canon couldn't dream of getting. I can't wait to get more glass for this beauty - it's really rekindled my love for photography.

I upgraded form a6300 and I am very happy with it. I can use lenses without OSS now and not worry much about blurriness. The biggest con is definitely the touch screen. In short it is terrible. Come on Sony! Why put a screen that phones had in the year 2000?! Its 2017!

As far as you know how to handle it it will deliver good images. The auto focus is insane and tracking subjects is quite good. I wish it would have more buttons to control it but overtime you can definitely get to master it.

I tried the A6300 and being an amateur and having very shaky hands the pictures were blurred at times.. I have played with this one and I think the IBIS does a great job. Rest is almost similar in comparison to A6300.

The Sony a6500 is a great light weight camera. For that reason it’s a perfect travel companion. I own a Sony aRII, but the camera’s lenses are very expensive and heavy. I bought the a6500, also because they share the same e-mount, so I can use my 55mm prime lens on either camera. I’m very happy with my choice.
