I haven't had this long, and I've not shot with such a nice camera in years, but I love it! I've heard nothing but good things about the Sony line of cameras, from very amazing photographers! So, I didn't go with Nikon this time, which was hard for me because I used my Grandpa's old Nikon for a lot of years when I was younger, and I'm still not disappointed! There will be a learning curve for me, of course, as these new cameras have so many options and settings, but I'm enjoying it! The lens that came with is pretty decent, but in retrospect, I should've just bought the body and gotten my next lens separately. I've since picked up a really nice Sony macro lens for it, that can do great all around photos as well, and it is now my go to lens. It will also require a bit of time to learn, lol! Long story short, I love this camera, it was low/mid range in price, for a nice camera! Plus, I got it on sale and interest free for 18 months or something like that, so I'm pleased with that aspect as well! I recommend a lens with more range, if you're even mildly serious about your photography and want more options, but the lens the comes with the body is still pretty good. Mind you, I'm no pro, this is just my opinion.

I have shot with Sony mirrorless cameras for many years now Beginning with the A7S and then the A7S II. I was curious about the A7 but it has absolutely everything a film-maker needs. I Chose this camera over other comparable cameras in the price range because 1. It is full frame unlike Panasonic or Canon comparable 2. it handles amazing in low light.... and has fine tuning capabilities 3. The buttons can be easily customized. Spending 5 minutes when setting up the camera for the first time will go a long way. I have a custom button set for audio controls, zoom, WB, etc. 4. Audio monitoring and outputs. This camera has all the outputs you would need. headphone jack, hdmi, etc. 5. Perfect camera for travel. And a cheap EF to E mount adapter allows me to use all my canon lenses as well. The one thing the A7 doesn't have that I miss from the A7SII is internal 4K but for the price you can not beat it.

I got this camera today and the photos are sharp and amazing. I played around with the buttons and focus all day to get a hang of it. The only Con is that the battery drains really fast. Either then that it’s still a good camera.

I chose the Sony a7 platform for many reasons but the primary was due to the mirrorless design.. Mirrorless caused the camera to be much smaller than DSLR equivalents which was a big concern of mine due to the type of photography I was wanting to focus on (Adventure motorcycling/landscape/wilderness) but also has the flexibility to be a fantastic portrait and lifestyle camera as well. Another benefit of mirrorless is due to the EVF (electronic view finder) giving you a representation of what you are going to get before you take the picture.. Unlike typical glass/mirror cameras where you are optically looking at the subject the EVF allows the application of settings to show through making it easier to get that first shot closer to what you are wanting. This is a fantastic camera for the price and allows you to get into professional level photography for a great price allowing you to focus on quality lenses that fit the e-mount or a-mount (this camera supports both a-mount lenses and canon lenses with inexpensive adapters) platform. As you continue to build you have a lens platform that will be around for years to come. I also do videos and this model supports quality video as well as (with a cable adapter) wireless mics making it a great platform for run and gun video shooting with quality depth of field you only find in high end movie cameras. I can record non-stop for 30 minutes making it perfect for the type recording I do. I would love to record longer than that but this seems to be a pretty standard limit on most DSLR's due to overheating concerns. I definitely recommend this camera. One thing to note is the lenses for this camera do tend to run higher than the comparable canon or nikon.. For my needs the mirrorless design outweighed the negative of the extra cost in lenses and if I were moving from another platform it wouldn't even be a consideration due to the adapter option for cross platform lenses.. (note- you do lose focus control and other features when using cross platform lenses) I was also able to purchase a Godox speed light flash with wireless trigger for ridiculous low price and it works in conjunction with the Sony perfectly... So if flash is a need that is your option.. Godox TT685s Great camera, David Mays

The Sony Alpha 7 II is a remarkable full-frame mirrorless camera that seamlessly blends cutting-edge technology with a compact design. From the moment I picked up this camera, I was impressed by its build quality and ergonomics. The robust magnesium alloy body not only feels durable but also exudes a sense of professionalism. One of the standout features of the Alpha 7 II is its exceptional image quality. The full-frame sensor delivers stunning clarity and rich detail, even in challenging lighting conditions. The dynamic range is impressive, allowing for strikingly vivid colors and deep shadows. The BIONZ X image processor contributes to fast and accurate autofocus, ensuring that you capture those fleeting moments with precision. The 5-axis in-body image stabilization is a game-changer, providing unparalleled stability for both photos and videos. This feature proves especially beneficial in low-light situations or when shooting without a tripod. The tilting LCD screen and high-resolution electronic viewfinder add to the overall shooting experience, offering versatility and aiding composition. Video capabilities are another area where the Alpha 7 II excels. The camera supports Full HD and even 4K recording, delivering cinematic footage with excellent detail and color reproduction. In terms of usability, the intuitive menu system and customizable controls make navigating the camera a breeze. The built-in Wi-Fi and NFC further enhance its connectivity, allowing for easy sharing and remote control via a smartphone. Overall, the Sony Alpha 7 II is a top-tier full-frame mirrorless camera that strikes an impressive balance between performance and portability. Whether you're a professional photographer or an enthusiast, this camera is sure to elevate your photography and videography to new heights.

The last time I had a SLR style camera was back in 2000 when my mother gave me her Nikon she had cherished through her high school years and beyond. I learned a lot back then and focused on mainly perfecting the film technique. I was never really interested in a DSLR camera until this Sony came out. It was small, light, and fit my needs perfectly. Sure, the lenses are quite expensive but its a great investment. I had forgotten how much fun it was to play around with settings and see instant gratifications. The images are clear and crisp with the standard kit lens and also the 55mm Prime. I have no favorite since both are excellent in their own rights. Like my mother, I'll capture a magnitude of pictures to show my future children and who knows, maybe I'll pass this one along too

Used the camera and its a solid mirrorless camera. Takes good pictures and with a good lense and some adjustable settings does take some crisp photos. The downside is that the battery does die a little too fast. I only used it for photos so I imagine that with video recording it will die even faster. It feel good in the hand and I really oike the looks of it compared to other brands.

Not too good in sport mode. The pictures are a little blurry. Low light it’s okay without a flash. Nice camera for portraits and moderate action in high light. The lcd screen can tilt which make it easy for overhead pics. Would have better with a touch screen. Not too heavy. Can take about 300 pics with one battery. Good entry level mirror less.

Just learning the camera, but it's as others have described. Was going to buy an aps-c camera, but this offers better low light performance. Had a 4/3's camera that had lousy low light performance. Half of the photos I shoot are golden hour nature and landscape, so I'm expecting better results. Weight is not bad and ergo is better than most.I can't say much on performance or specs yet as I haven't had much opportunity to use it yet. The sale price put this well below the aps-c I was looking at and was the least expensive full frame offered. It may be older tech, but unless you spend $500 to $700 more you don't gain anything. My budget was a grand for a body. Hit the nail on the head plus the kit lens.

I had been toying with the idea of exploring full frame mirrorless cameras. I own a number of Sony "e mount" (APS) bodies and lenses and am very happy with Sony. So the decision boiled down to this aR7ii or its replacement the aR7iii. I did a lot of research and felt that though the iii had a few more features, I couldn't justify the steep increase in price. Anyway, I've only had a few weeks, but so far, I am delighted. Its autofocus is rapid and accurate. Its viewfinder is clear and crisp. Its size and weight are comfortable and well balanced. This is well worth the reasonable price!
