Sensor is still fantastic. It's small, packed with features still. Battery life is bad. It's autofocus isn't great but still incredibly awesome to see.

I bought it with the lens EF 24-70mm F2.8 and fabulous photos. I'm just waiting to be available this other Sony FE 70-200mm f / 2.8 GM. It works very well at high ISO

For months I compared it to canon and Nikon. Review after review on YouTube. I started w the A6000 and made the jump to my A7rii. Trust me, nothing compares to the dynamic range of this camera. There's tons of features and specs, but I'll get to the point, I'm a portrait and landscape photographer. This camera is amazing for me because it's so light and so powerful in every department. Highly recommend this. I have the Zeiss 16-35 f4. Just purchased the 85mm 1.4 g master. Waiting patiently for it to ship. Suggest pairing this w the rotolight and mono pod (for portraits). Incredible combo.

This camera is absolutely amazing. I was lucky enough to get my hands on it and take it for a weekend on a trip. Sony does it again with yet another camera. Finding my way around the menus was a bit tough (even tougher if i didn't already have a sony A6K) I felt i LOVED the sony A6000 so much for a starting camera i really stepped it up when i got the A7Rii. it'll take me a few weeks to really learn the camera and its full potential. So all that being said i would recommend this to a serious photographer or someone looking to start a small business in photography. The A6000 is also a great little camera to start out on. But why not go the distance and "Go Big Or GO HOME" So buy and buy now! Also the Pictures attached were with a Zeiss 55mm lens

I moved from Nikon to Sony for most of my shooting. I kept my DSLR gear for certain situations. I read a few prerelease reviews. They were all glowing, so I decided to preorder. The A7rII does indeed improve on everything my A7 does. The higher resolution is amazing. the focus speed is better. 5 axis stabilization does add to the tool. One must remember to carefully set white balance, ISO, and use top lenses to get the most from this extraordinary camera. It is a bit more demanding than a lesser tool, but it does reward you if you learn it and invest in top quality lenses. Low light ability is great, I did not need 102,000 but the 3200 and 6400 is better than any other camera I have used. Sony has set a new standard for top quality full frame cameras.

I made the switch from Nikon to Sony and I am very happy with the A7Rii -- it's weight and size makes it also the ideal travel camera for me while delivering a resolution of 42 megapixel. With good full frame lenses I get an amazing sharpness. However, also Sony's e-mount APS-C lenses work right out of the box with the A7Rii -- the camera switches automatically into APS-C crop mode which results in images with a 18 MegaPixel resolution, which is 5168x3448 pixel. The in-camera stabilization helps a lot in low light situations because you can opt for slightly lower shutter speeds before raising ISO too early. The stabilization works great for video as well. The quality of the 4k video I am getting out of this camera is very good.

Its amazing how much Sony was able to put into this camera while maintaining a fine balance of Image Quality and features. There really isn't anything this camera can't do well; however, with adapted lenses and even native lenses this camera will focus good but not perfect with faster objects. Some will complain the shadows show high levels of posterization, however, if you shoot a black bear inside a coal mine around midnight no lighting your asking for trouble. (Basically don't expect the camera to recover 15 stops of shadow detail and you may want to properly compose the shot next time) I personally shoot everything from landscape to urban city scape and this camera delivers, I can't say the same for the A7R which was still a fantastic camera but shooting handheld can yield some slightly blurred images if you didn't increase the shutter speed. Overall with its new stabilized body, 42 Megapixel back illuminated sensor, Improved auto focus and a host of other features this camera will promise to match or exceed the results from say the 5Ds and D810. Every camera will have an area where it will fall short, however, this camera does a lot of things very well and better composition and planning of the shot will go a long way in achieving the best results.

This camera is a step up from previous versions feature rich but intuitive to use. I owned the original a7 and upgraded to this camera due to its improved autofocus system , and of course the 42 mp of resolution. Eye autofocus is really improved from previous version and while battery performance could be better it's improved as well. This may be the last camera that I purchase

The 43MP sensor on this camera is ahead of anything offered by other pro system makers in the full frame 35mm sensor market. This camera works beautifully with lens adapters for my premium AF Canon lenses and my old incredible AI Nikon lenses (never dreamt I would be able to enjoy these again and frankly didn't know why I bothered to hang onto them)…I love it when a plan comes together so exceptionally well!? Hats off to Sony for their engineering brilliance. I recommend the Sony Vertical grip which holds two of the puny batteries and keep two more spares in the bag. That should cover the longest scenario of a 12-hour still shoot.

I read a million reviews, watched all the videos and decided to sell all my Nikon equipment and make the change. I am not a full time professional as I have a great job and this is more of a hobby that I have taken to the extreme. That is really important here because this camera is amazing in every way possible EXCEPT for sports shooting. The focus system is extremely complicated but one you figure it out it is AMAZING! Ok now for the down, this doesn't affect me because I mostly shoot portraits but this would make me very nervous at a wedding or paid event. If you shoot high speed continuos first of all its only good for about 10 shots before it slows down and shortly after stops. The camera has froze on me twice doing this so bad that I had to wait a long time and then take the battery out to get it reset. I love the size, I love that I can see what is being exposed prior to shooting very accurately and the quality of photos even at ISO 6400 and above are unbelievable. I will note I am only shooting with Carl Zeiss lenses but none the less. If you are looking for a light way low light beast and you are not shooting events or weddings for a living this is your camera. Amazing! I hope Sony will fix the bugs as this was a LARGE investment to have these types of freezes happen. Overall I still rate it five stars because the results don't lie and this has improved my results far beyond what I even imagined when prior purchase.

I have been a life long Nikon owner. Last year i purchased the A7 and was pleased. The new A7rII puts the original A7 to shame. The feel and rhe shape of the A7rIi reminds you of the old film SLRs. The view finder is much improved and the low light image quality outstanding. I plan on selling my Nikon equipment.

Camera has too many features to review. The low light performance sets it apart from other high end cameras. Must be coupled with great lenses to really see the benefits. I think it is on par with my Canon 5d mark3, but not as bulky and some cool features that canon does not have. I wish it had a built in fill flash though. The real benefit to this camera is the video it shoots. Looks and feels like a professional 4k camcorder. Best buy had one in stock and I had to pull the trigger. Had it on backorder online forever!

I love this camera. It great for pros or beginners. It's the only camera I use for stills. Sony got it right. I understand why they use this as their flagship camera. Easy and quick to use with in depth tools. Customizable buttons allows for the photographer to make virtually any kind of setting and ergonomic availability for the cameras many functions, like focus peaking zebras, focus assist, Eye and face lock, along with any other functions the photographer chooses, including send to smart phone function, that they so desire. The 42 megapixels allows for superior cropping as does the super 35 mode. In the body stabilization makes for best handheld shooting.

I had outgrown my old Nikon (entry-level DSLR) and was ready for an upgrade. Did a ton of research on what would fit my needs. Didn't think I would end up with a mirrorless system and have no regrets. My main requirements were: 1. weight 2. great image quality (especially during low-light scenarios) 3. great lens family (something I had not done in the past, but knew I was going to do going forward). PRO I've been shooting in various location and lighting scenarios over the last month and LOVE the image quality. Night shots are beautiful too! ISO range allows me to capture small details with no/little graininess. My entry-level camera night shots always left me wanting more clarity. I can't look at night shots taken on my mobile phones anymore. Why did I ever bother? Haven't done much with video yet so can't speak to that....yet. CONS Batteries don't last long. Two full batteries lasted a half-day excursion at a forest in Fire Island. Just ordered more for days I know will last longer, but for $50 a pop, this adds to the overall price of the system. This does keep the camera weight down though. A tradeoff for wanting a lighter camera. price? This is some pricey equipment. Something cheaper might be good for what I currently do, but this is also something I want to grow with as I step up my photography game.

I originally purchased this camera when it first launched back in 2015, and for anyone looking to upgrade their current DLSR or simply get a second body well look no further! This camera may be old, but it still stands its ground as a worthy contender! 1. Images are sharp, clear, crisp. 42 MP in RAW is plenty of detail to slow your computer down or drool over. With a great lens this camera will continue to do just what the new models do — and that is take amazing images. - Photography Cons: The more megapixels, the more noisy your image gets when pushing your ISO. - Chromatic Aberration is present in some situations, but Lightroom is handy in quickly fixing these issues. - Being mirrorless, the sensor will become subjective to getting plenty of dust particles so keep an eye on it. - Photography Pros: amazing highlight retention (when shot properly) - Wonderful, rich colors. - Plenty of helpful photo modes for Pros and Beginners. 2. For the video folks, the autofocus system is surprisingly very responsive and accurate. As long as you have a good lens (Sony branded) you will enjoy the best of its autofocus system. - The video files are extremely manageable for importing and editing when shooting directly from camera to an SD card, but you can opt in on purchasing an external monitor like an Atomos to unlock even more options for recording, encoding and storing files. (Which is what I use) - This camera does not support Sony’s latest video profiles: Cine, HLG, and so forth. So if you needed to record these, it won’t be possible. While there are work arounds, I recommend looking at something newer. - Overall amazing quality, I’ve owned this camera for 6 years and I do not regret making the jump to mirror less with this.

This is my 61th year of photography. I began in 6th grade and weaved it into my careers. This camera provides a wonderful jump in image quality. This camera is a WOW! My twilight-time images are low noise, colorful, and have a creamy wide tonal range. Campfire is not burned out (opps, a punny!) while the shadows are not solid lumps of coal. The steady feature is very good. At 6400 ISO the image does not disappear into a noise puzzle. So much more to say ...this camera is THE ONE. Focus is instant and quiet with the incredible 16-35 mm lens. Battery life is fine. Negatives ...hardly anything: The camera and accessories are not lightweights in weight or price. Pay for and get quality! Now what to do with large, beautiful images?
