Takes great pictures. Easy to use. 5 frames a second. Have been using with a converter and canon 70-200 2.8. The high mega pixels gives you crisp pictures even when cropped.

Phenomenal in low light settings. Quality overall. Much more weight to the body than the A7 but more of a sturdy feel. 42 megapixels gives you a lot to work with. Silent shutter is stealth, no noise whatsoever. Phone app works great with it as well.

I needed a second camera body, considered the recently introduced A9, as well as the a7II, a7sII and the a6500. While each have advantages, the best blend was the a7rII. This is a phenomenal camera that does everything I need it to do.Continually amazed with the dynamic range able to pull in shadow detail in post, and the truly silent shutter. Would highly recommend.

Long time Canon user here. Pretty old school lover of the optical viewfinder and non-believer of mirrorless until this beast had surfaced. My experience does not include the use of Sony/Zeiss since I only have Canon glass to use with my Metabones adapter but the AF on this combination has been fast and accurate so far with the Canon 24-70mm 2.8 Mark II. Dynamic range is a huge improvement over the Canon systems, along with the AF system. This thing just doesn't know when to stop. The resolution is just ridiculous and is giving my Mac Pro 3.7ghz Quad Core, 32gb ram, 2gb AMD FirePro a run for performance. Luckily I upgraded my computer not too long ago because my old Mac Pro probably would have died. Anyways without getting into a long review, I am a believer! I will be leaving Canon after 12 years, it's finally time to say goodbye...

The 5 state rating is for the camera product itself. Great camera! I bought an open box item. The condition was very rough. No box. Not even a camera cap. Sensor was filthy and covered in residue. Display was filthy and scratched. I was able to change the display cover. I was able to clean the sensor and get it back in working condition. I know I assumed the risk of buying an open box item, but it was more than open box. It was in terrible condition and already had 17K exposures. It would have been nice to have an accurate description.

A bit of a learning curve with this camera as it has a lot of functionality. However when paired with quality glass it's hard to beat. The mirrorless keeps the weight down and makes it easier to tote around. You can beat the megapixels on this camera and I haven't found the camera life to be an issue. Sony provides 2 batteries with the camera and I brought a couple more that I didn't gave to do.

This is an amazing camera for almost all applications. If you're considering buying a 3K camera, you'll likely have done more research than this review. I love almost everything about the camera and sensor, so I'll focus on the biggest cons. -Grip feel a bit funky if you're used to shooting on larger bodies. I felt uncomfortable holding with heavy lenses so I have the battery grip always attached -Menu is non-intuitive. Sony has other menus that are better--no firmware update anytime soon expected -Battery life is dismal. Buy the battery grip. Most times you can swap out a battery quickly ~10 seconds, but if you're sitting and waiting for a shot, you'd much rather just have the grip on the camera.

Awesome. Camera. I have so much fun taking pictures with this camera. This IBIS is very nice, can get better long exposures handheld now. Alot faster the the A7R and the focusing is way better. A little on the pricey side, but you get so much in this little body.

I love this camera. The images are great and there are many options available for tweaking and creating excellent stills and video. The five axis internal stabilization is excellent and works well. However, the menu system takes a lot of getting used to and the manual is sparse particularly regarding settings. If you have already used any of the alpha cameras from Sony you should be able to quickly adapt. Brian Smith has a very good book available at Barnes and Noble and Gary L. Friedman has a 642 page manual with lots of useful detail available on line.

Upgraded from the a7ii and I love this camera. When I first was looking at getting one, I thought the only difference was the sensor, but auto focus, low light, and overall functionality and feel feels weirdly better than the a7ii. If you're looking between the a7ii and a7rii, I would say go with the a7rii. If you're wanting to do video/vlog stuff, maybe shoot for something lighter like an a6400. An a6400 is amazing for videography if you're wanting to go light.
