Great camera. I sold the A7Rii to acquire this and I am satisfied. The focus is a lot faster than the previous model. The pics in lower light do make a difference with this one. I take action pics of people in motion in the gym. I'm not a photographer and this has all the pro photographer wants. I just need top notch quality pictures. It really makes a difference with eye detection when I want to catch a crisp picture while they're in motion. The ability to review your pics before waiting to be recorded on the sim card I feel is huge for me.
I get split seconds to catch a quality pic so I need to be able to review captures right away. The touch screen is very nice to have. You tap on screen to place focus point on a face, object or the other eye if its on eye detection.
If none of these matter to you then pick anything else that takes decent pictures.

I own several cameras including Nikon, but for my likings Sony delivers stunning photos. Clean, sharp and great color grade. Make sure you get a good lens to take advantage of the resolution of this beauty. Also it will consume a lot of memory on your SD card so you should get a good size card, not less than 128 gigs.
Night photography introduces some noise since it has more megapixels, but it is still very workable. There are so many features for so many modes it's ridiculous! This was definitely a great buy! While taking video I was expecting to see some overheating but it only got warm, no issues.
Also, whatever you do, be careful changing lenses in a windy, misty or dusty environment, any speck that attaches to the sensor will show in your videos or pictures. If you suspect that the sensor got dirty, take a sample video or photo and zoom in to see if there is any blurred dot on it, if there is one you will need to clean the sensor, believe me, you'll thank me later. Just buy sensor wipers with your camera, they are cheap and will save you a lot of headaches. This is common on most mirror less cameras and not a defect.
Sorry about not having sample pics but I wasn't on my computer when I wrote this.

I spent months researching the best camera for my price range. Originally thought the Nikon 850 was it, but once I saw the new release of the A7RIII, we waited for it to come in and got it a few days before Christmas. Our pictures were simply amazing. The best gift everyone got was a USB of all the holiday pics. So many memories were created and captured! The overall size is much better than the big cameras. 5 stars all the way!

The camera itself is marvelous. I think its reasonable to suggest that novice users will find using the camera to be very straight forward. there is a firmware update that must be done prior to first use, and its a bit tricky on Mac (Sony get your act together) but a simple youtube search and some trial and error and I was able to complete in less than 20 mins and was up and shooting. I used the trip on a recent European vacation and found the batter to be very good for normal picture/video use - if you're going to hard core video then yes, you'll likely need a second or third battery as backup. After about 30 days, I can say I've very very pleased with my investment and the quality of the pictures is incredible....now to figure out how to store all these raw files....

Loving this camera. Overall It is fast, reliable, and well built. There is two big selling points for my upgrade. The battery is one, the second was the 42 megapixels. I can shoot for a much longer duration then with my past Sony a ii camera. Also with the 42 megapixels it helps me to crop into what i want to when I need to with detail loss. My only constructive criticism is if Sony could simplify and better manage their menu system, personally it is a bit difficult to work through. A simple software UI change could make that possible. Only the future will tell. However I will be hanging on to this camera for many years to come. Would definitely recommend to people looking for an overall great 42 megapixel camera.

I got this camera because I wanted to switch from full frame to mirorless and this camera doesn’t disappoint. Combined with a prime lens, the quality is better than expected. The weight is perfect, easily transported. I couldn’t be happier

I switched to this camera from a Fuji, and I am very happy so far. Lots of customization options (just like the Fuji) and great image quality. The camera feels well-made without being too heavy, and while the grip isn't huge, it's comfortable.

I upgraded from a Canon 6D Mark II in need of better dynamic range and quality for my landscapes and portraits. The Sony a7rIII has blew me away since day one and I feel like an idiot for owning a Canon.
There is a reason why many famous travel photographers choose the a7riii, with 42 megapixels, a ridiculous amount of dynamic range and beautiful uncropped 4k video the sky is the limit. Seriously, I can underexpose 3 stops and bring a shot back to life. Where my 6D mark II and an eosr I rented made any shadow heavy photo a silhouette nightmare that was impossible to recover in post. I now have an incredible amount of control editing my raws.
The size and aesthetics of it are amazing, although I would prefer the menu system and the overall settings to be a little more simple to navigate. Changing aperture, shutter speed and iso is a breeze.
As I have said, I was a canon shooter. meaning I have a collection of EF mount lens like my Sigma Art 35mm and Tamron G2 70-200 that I could not just sell and replace with Sony lens. So I bought a Sigma MC-11 adapter and problem solved. The auto focus is still very quick, and that $280 dollar adapter saved me a lot of money and possible to switch to Sony.
For $2800 compared to other pro full frames on the market, there is no contest against the a7riii. My Images are sharp, creamy and full of contrast, Auto focusing is fast and accurate and I have plenty of features to use. Thank you Sony for making the right camera for me.

Absolutely LOVE this camera! I have been a wedding photographer for 12 years and have always used Canon products. I switched to Sony only because it was lighter in weight, but honestly there are so many amazing qualities about this camera that I now love way more than Canon. It reads so fast, its light weight, it does amazing in low light and the price is great! I only wish I would have bought this sooner.

I wanted the Sony a7RIII however the price kept me at arms length. I saw that there was an open box priced several hundred dollars below the new Camera. So I took a chance on getting the open box price. Camera arrived within two days. The box looked in great shape. The camera and accessories looked like it was still packed as it would have been by the factory! The camera is an awesome photographic tool. I’m glad I took a chance on saving $ by getting and open box.

Best Sony out now besides the A9 battery life is great have had no issues with it. Wish the touch screen was better. Im use to Canon. Other than that its a solid camera just need small tweaks to be perfect. But no camera is perfect but so high res pictures and prints youll love the megapixels you get out of this. Highly recommend this line. Id recommend over the Canon 5d mark 4.

I have been a hobbyist photographer for the past 20years and I have shot different brands of cameras including Sony, Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm Pentax and Yashica ranging from point and shoot to pro level cameras and I can say without any bias or hesitation that the A7RIII is the best all round camera I have ever seen or heard of

I had been shooting with the A7ii for a while and wanted to step up my kit considerably. I wanted to shoot low light and astro landscapes and pulled the trigger on the A7iii. I am very happy that I did. The Increased resolution borders that of a Medium Format rig. I have since also purchased the A7iii and with these two cameras in my kit, I feel prepared for anything.

I did a lot of research before I bought this camera. It came down to a choice between this and the Nikon D850. I think I’d have been happy with either. Both have exceptional image quality. Both have excellent reputations for durability. Both are used by professionals whose work I respect. Dynamic range was one key consideration. The Nikon is good. The Sony is extraordinary. For landscapes that’s important. Weight was another factor. Don’t get me wrong. The A7rIII with the 24-70 f2.8 lens and extended battery pack is quite a chunk. But, a similarly equipped D850 is even heavier. At my age that’s important. A key factor in my decision was the ability to see and hold both cameras equipped with the lens I was considering. You can’t do that on Amazon. You can’t do it at every Best Buy either. They had a full camera shop at the Best Buy with knowledgeable sales people in Greenville, SC, about an hour away. Being able to hold the two cameras was critical. Don’t buy it blindly. This is expensive. Make sure it feels good in your hands, since that’s what it often comes down to. Since purchase, I’ve shot about a thousand frames with it. Even though I was switching from Canon, the operation of the A7rIII is intuitive and I was up and running without a manual in no time. (The little booklet that comes with it is just one step above useless). Since then I’ve bought a detailed guide to the camera and I’m getting better with it every day. I’ve paired it with a low cost flash from Godox (for fill-in work), and everything is great. I’m happy.

Super lightweight camera body even compared to the Nikon z7. I recently switched from Nikon to Sony and don't regret it. This body is small if you have large hands, you may consider a battery grip. Works excellent indoors for events in low-light situations. No complaints here.
