An amazing lens!! Can blur the background to keep your people in focus. May be pricey but when it comes to lenses never go cheap! Highly recommend for maneuverability and photo quality!

You get exactly what you expect from a G Master lens. Razor sharp even wide open, Whether sealed, A looks amazing on any Sony alpha camera. This lens almost never leaves my camera.

Huge surprise to find out the lens arrived in a plastic soft bag. The shipping department had no intention to protect the high valued product made with fragile glasses. Who else would ship the lens with a thin layer soft bag? The lens had to be returned immediately. Hope the shipping dept improve the service.

The optics, build, size and feel are all near perfect. However, as many have noted, the focus breathing when shooting video is egregious. Even if you have an A7IV or other newer Sony with FB compensation, the crop is quite significant (goes from 35mm to about 39mm and that’s without any stabilization crop). It’s a lot of money to spend if you’re not a professional charging money. IMO, the Sony FE 35mm 1.8 is an excellent alternative. I had both and ended up keeping the 1.8 because of its cost/size/quality. It also has virtually no focus breathing so you avoid that crop. It’s significantly smaller/lighter and about half the price but in no way is it half the quality. I’d say it’s at least 90-95% as good as the GM (I realize that’s subjective).

I used the Sony 35mm f/1.4 alongside the 24-70mm GM II on my trip to Greece, and the 35mm was the perfect companion. It delivered sharp, natural-looking images with beautiful bokeh, making it ideal for environmental portraits. Low-light performance was excellent, and its compact size made it easy to carry. While the 24-70mm handled versatility, the 35mm excelled in character and subject isolation. If you already have a zoom, this is the best prime to complement it.

This lens is highly recommended because it is light, small, sharp, weathersealed, with intuitive controls, and most of all, has a nics rendering (this is subjective). Of course it demands a premium price but if you are committed to getting it you will not be disappointed.

This lens is remarkable in every way, the image quality, the build, fast focus, and relatively light weight. One down side is the focus ring could use more dampening.

This lens almost never comes off my camera — that’s how good it is. The Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM is an absolute gem for both photo and video work. What I love most is its versatility — 35mm just works for everything: portraits, street, events, weddings, you name it. It’s lightweight, weather-sealed, and feels perfectly balanced on my Sony body. If you’re looking for a single lens that can handle almost any situation, this is it.

Very sharp even at f/1.4, testing with my A7RIII. Practically no chromatic aberration. Aperture ring feels great, autofocus is very quick and silent. Exceeds all my expectations. If you’re a videographer, the focus breathing is the only potential downside I can think of, other than the high price.
