Absolutely flawless. Superb auto-focus speed. Supremely sharp even when shooting wide open which, let's face it, is critical or else why pay the premium for a 1.4 lens. Manual focus ring is buttery smooth with just enough stiffness to maintain precise control. Aperture Ring, which I had never used before this lens, has grown on me quite a bit and I now find myself using it exclusively--nice firm stops. Of course, you can bypass it entirely if that's your preference and simply set it to 'A' Automatic so that you adjust with the camera body controls. If I HAD to be critical about anything it would be that the lens has a little more heft to it than say, the 35mm 1.8 which is considerably lighter and sports a daintier footprint. That being said, this lens is certainly not heavy--I shoot primes almost exclusively and 35mm is my go-to focal length: I have no issues carrying this around all day long mounted to an A7IV. No fatigue and I should mention that I hand-hold as I hate straps of any kind. It's expensive, so your use-case (and tax bracket) will play an important role in your purchasing decision but if you love primes and you're fond of the 35mm focal length, this is a no brainer.

Excellent lens. Super super sharp. Solidly built. Like a tank. Picture is perfect. Priced like the very best…in a class by itself. Expensive? Oh, yeah. Wince, wince, my pocketbook.

I bought this lens specifically for low light indoor situations after second shooting a wedding. I needed something for the reception that was a wider focal range. I have yet to use it for a wedding but loved it for the last couples shoot I did.

Great Lens over all.. For photography its perfect especially for portraits but its good for anything you use it for. As far as Video, I have always loved a 35mm for my videos now on this one the 1.4 f-stop is sooo good especially for when recording in low light its just so beautiful. Didn't talked about the click Botton, its great to have that option especially for us filmmakers. Having the option to have a de-click option for the aperture ring its so great. I recommend it 100% either if you are in photography or videography hands down.

One of the best Sony lenses you can buy. Tack sharp, beautiful bokeh and a reasonable size. If I could only use one lens forever this might be it.

This lens is so sharp and so good at controlling see a operation. I love you seen this length with my Sony or four because I can use crap mode and get the equivalent of a 50 mm lens. Yes this land will hurt a lot and it’s very noticeable when doing video but because I am a still photographer I do not mind at all I really really recommend this lens the build quality is just perfect strong I actually drop this lens already and he didn’t he didn’t even get a scratch from the ceramic floor.

This lens has basically the same size as the 24mm GM. Excellent build/image quality. Just a slight issue in focus breathing for video. It wouldn't be a problem for FX6 with firmware update or A7IV. Hope there will be a firmware update for the A7SIII soon

One of Sony's best lenses, sharpness, bokeh, speed and af, build quality. Sony cut no corners on this lens. This lens is the definition of "You get what you pay for". It's resolving power is 100mp+. Insane.

The weight, size, and the aperture makes this the best 35mm for Sony Ez-Mount.

I waited for this lens since preorders were announced. Let me tell you, worth the wait. I previously had the Sony 35mm f1.8 lens which I loved the size and compatibility, but I always said if they released a GM 35mm I would not hesitate to purchase. The sharpness of this lens is out of this world and I use it on my Sony A7iii body and it produces really great quality.

I’ve been a Sony shooter for years and have many G Master lenses. This lens is the one that stays in my camera no mater what im doing. There’s always a shot that o can tale with it and its sure to be a great shot. I shoot wide open knowing they images are always tack sharp no mater the lighting environment.

My first GM lens and now I see why everyone raves about GM lenses from Sony. The 35mm f1.4 is sharp across the entire frame and works flawlessly. The build is exceptional, even down to the hood. Sony makes a good 35mm f1.8 lens, but if you can afford it, the 35mm f1.4 lens from Sony is sublime.

Probably the sharpest and the fastest 35mm lens available for Sony-E mount, but they used too many plastics in its construction presumably for weight reasons. While it's acceptable for certain parts of the body to be made from plastics, the filter threads in a high-end lens should be made from metal, period.

I’ve often wondered if GM lenses were really better. In this case, definitely. This lens is sharper and has less distortion than the sigma 35 1.4 art (which is also a great lens). And this is much lighter!

Amazing. This is a very very very very very very nice lens. I used it on the A9II and A1 for weddings and colors are just beautiful. Very sharp. Sony really did a thing with this one. Why is it so cheap? For this kind of lens I was expecting it to be around 2k like the 135 and 50 1.2.

One of the best Full Frame lenses in the market. Sharpest indeed.
