I was looking for a 4K up-scaling Blu-ray DVD player. I have a number of DVDs and Blu-ray DVDs that I like to view. I do believe that physical discs are soon to be extinct, so I was not interested in a 4K player. In addition, although I have a 4K TV that up-scales, I had read that having a 4K up-scaling Blu-ray DVD player made the picture even better. To be honest, I am not sure if that statement is true. However, I can say that this Sony player is very small, but it gave me everything I was looking for in a player.

With everyone streaming now days, RV manufacturers stopped installing DVD players in travel trailers. However, wi-fi streaming services are not always available or come with costs. We have a couple hundred DVD to choose from. Inside an RV, storage space is a premium. So we needed a small, inexpensive, quality made DVD player capable of handling any DVD, including Blue-ray...This unit was perfect. It is compact and light weight, fits perfectly in a cabinet, easy to connect, setup and use. Unless we have a campfire going, every camping night is a movie night. We love it.

i upgraded to a 75” 4k TV and wanted a blu-ray player. I didn’t want to spend the $200+ for a 4K player so i went with this one that upscales. I’m going to use this player less than 40x a year so it wasn’t a big deal. The picture is fantastic and it’s very easy and intuitive to use. It’s my 3rd Sony player, more by chance than insistence, and i’m very happy.

1. I don't use the apps. I have Apple TV. 2. Some might think it a little slow to start up but I have patience so not a problem. 3. I have had the player a little over a month. The only problem I had is one night I put a Blu Ray in and the screen went black and then a pop up told me there was no connection and to check my HDMI but I don't touch the rear of machine and it is in glass case. So I un plugged it and waited several minutes and plugged it back in and it worked fine. 4. When it works it is very good-picture quality is very good on DVD and Blu Ray. 5. As I stated I do not use the apps and it is not connected to wifi. It is strictly a DVD/Blu Ray player. 6. BE SURE TO BUY THE 2 YEAR PROTECTION PLAN BECAUSE AFTER 15 DAYS YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK IF IT STARTS TO HAVE PROBLEMS. I was told at the store that they will exchange or fix the player. If they have to fix they indicated it would take 2 weeks. My feelings are that it might not last 2 years. But since I have the protection plan I hope that Best Buy will fix or exchange. Lastly, friends of mine spent over 200 for a 4K whatever player because they are into everything new and hi tech. They had nothing but trouble and the thing didn't do what it was suppose to do. So they returned it and bought a even more expensive one. Who knows. All I can say is patience and so far so good-maybe-for today-and who knows what will happen tomorrow. I do think that when it plays a DVD and then a Blu Ray that might trigger something which causes a psychotic short-so up-plug it for several minutes and then see what happens.

I had a Samsung BluRay that was only a few years old when it stopped reading any disks.
This Sony had good reviews. Has a small footprint. And a great price. Easy set up.
Nice to have a BluRay back again for the grandkids. And the quality is excellent with 4K upscaling.
I don’t really used my BluRay for apps as I prefer my Roku. So can’t comment on that.

Easy to use, set up was fast. Helps old dvd's look way better with upscaling.
Very happy with purchase.
Super small footprint- love that as it does not take up so much space if you dont have a large area for eqyipment.

I am really happy with the Sony blu ray system. Its small, supports 3D blu rays and up scales to 4K. The online apps are also a really nice feature too! However the bluetooth connection and the DNL (I think) connection only supports pc and android users. This was a bit of a let down for me (an Apple supporter) but it does not effect my overall experience with the system. Its a great system to own along side with other Sony products.

Excellent little DVD player. The upscaling works just fine and its small does not take up space and this via a HDMI cable to my 65" SONY Bravia TV has EXCELLENT picture. Dont use the apps on it for streaming its ok at best. Do use the WiFi connectivity to do the firmware and software updates to the DVD unit.

Needed another blue ray player and the Sony had the streaming capabilities which allowed us to eliminate our other streaming device. Easy to operate but make sure to turn it off when not in use since the disk still turns when left on. It may stop but I don’t know. Picture quality is as good as our TV is capable of producing. Good value on sale.

Picture quality is great.
Short enough it fits under my smaller TV and doesn't block anything.
The built-in apps work well.
Setup, connecting to WiFi and software/firmware updates were all straight forward and easy.
This unit has 4K upscaling, but can't play 4K BlueRays.
I buy most movies online, not disks, so not an issue for me.
Overall I'm very satisfied with this unit.

I love this thing! It not only plays Blu-ray and DVD discs, but it has Wifi capability and lots of apps to access sites like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Youtube, and many more. The remote is a little small, but works very well. It doesn't play 4K UHD Blu-ray discs, but it upscales to 4K resolution. Highly recommend it.

The grandkids killed the Samsung and the First Blue Ray player I could get my hands on was this Sony. Wow, great picture and easy to use and navigate. Upscales are clean and finely detailed. You will not regret a good Sony blue ray player. It's not a cheapie, nor is it's performance. I would buy it again!

For the best bluray players that I own now, Sony has been the best bluray player. I recommend this player who want it all features. Note this player is support all Dolby Vision and audio (Atmos) .Dont have to get a 10 ft ethernet cable because this one has a wireless LAC OR Wireless connection . Bluetooth is available for this model .4K UHD Upscaling Blu-ray/DVD ACR control if TV is equipped and CEC
Note all tv are not created equally so see the owners manual to check if your tv has ARC or CEC . For best picture results have a 4k tv or you can still use any tv that has a resolution of 1080P or select auto for all picture settings . For sound select auto on all options .

This is a great unit if you do not need or want a recording capability. As I do very little recording it did not matter. Also, if compact is a factor, I was amazed at how small this unit is.
I have used it for streaming, DVDs, and CDs and all worked just as advertised. Nice price tag also.

Works well. Use it about once a week for movie night and a couple other nights for Netflix®. Has a nice selection of apps for your viewing pleasure. Set up was easy and quick with HDMI cable. Half the size of the original Blu-ray player it replaced and actually better picture.

So first of all the Sony S6700 Streaming 4K Upcaling Wi-Fi Blu-rau player is a definite upgrade from my 5 year old blu-ray player that didnt have smart streaming over Wi-Fi of TV shows and movies. Video quality is great on my 75in 4k TV. The only thing that kept me from giving 5 Stars is the remote control and on screen interface of trying to navigate the hundreds of on line movies and show choices with the very limited amount of buttons on remote for navigation. Had to connect a Bluetooth mouse and navigation was 100% more user friendly. Overall a solid upscaling blu-ray player with decent steaming abilities. But Sony went cheap on the remote!!

I purchased this item as we needed a new DVD/BluRay player. I was not necessarily in the market for 4k or streaming capabilities, but at the price I paid it would have been hard to pass up.
The unit plays all DVDs and BluRays with no issue. The upscaling to 4k is nice and noticable. The device streams at a decent speed and hooks up to my laptop but I cannot get it to talk with my tablet. The device is a little slower than our other DVD player when you turn it on but it does have a memory function that takes you back to the previous spot on the disc even if you have removed said disc (this is a great feature if you have kids).
Overall I went with four stars due to the connecting with my tablet issue and the slow start up function. It is a good device and does stream, along with the 4k upscaling and low price point, this is hard to beat. Qould recommend if you are in the market for an entry level 4k (ish) device.
