Needed a dvd player for a gift dvd given to my wife. Though we were still sitting on 3 or so dozen dvd's from the '90's-early 2000's, we honestly, haven't watched one in years. Who has? But, we now had this gift disc and she wanted to watch it. So, checked out what was happening at my local Best Buy and settled on this Sony Blu-ray player - open box - however it was the small scale and unobtrusive nature of the player that mostly recommended it. Took it home, hooked it up, fired it up and after a very brief set-up, had the player up and running. Though the technology still seems a bit dated, and the film quality can be near-horrendous, it was interesting to dig through several old discs (none are Blu-ray, btw) and be able to watch some movies, shorts, music video collections, we haven't seen in some time. I guess that would be true with any player, however, the simplicity and ease of using this player is a pleasure. There is a small question of build quality - namely, the disc tray was a little reluctant to open a time or two at first but has not been a problem since. But, really, haven't used and explored the unit enough to really put it through anything close to a workout. However, glad we bought it and, once I knock a small hole in the back of the wood-and-glass-front bookcase holding, among other things, all our dvd's, the player should fit easily tucked away all nice a clean like. That alone is worth it.

but I have a ton of DVDs. Anyway, a refurbished Blu-Ray player I had bought on line never worked properly, so I decided to get a new, never opened one. This one works like a charm! It also increases the DVD-watching experience. I love that I can watch using other apps (e.g., Netflix, Prime Video) on this device, as well. I no longer subscribe to cable, so it is a good thing to be able to watch the multitude of DVDs that I own when there is nothing on network television.

I was looking for a simple but smart featured Blu-ray player and got that and more with this BDP-S6700. Easy to set up, fast load ups, great picture and small enough to fit any where with minimum space. Great price too!

Bought for 2 reasons- as a player it is top notch for a mid-priced bluray. Excellent picture to my Sony tv. And as a streaming device it is about as good as it gets considering it only has wireless N. Yes it streams at 5 megahertz and does a great job at that but I wish it had wireless AC to match what I have at home but apparently that's too much to ask of any bluray player manufacturer. My 2 year old Sony tv for some strange reason only has 2 hdmi inputs and one is obviously used for cable which only leaves me one hdmi input for everything else so I had to find the best combination of bluray player/streaming media player all in one. After A LOT of research this is the best setup I could get with cable/bluray/streamer with only 2 hdmi inputs and the least amount of remotes.

This is my second Sony Blu-Ray player and the ease of use is a big factor in why I chose this device. The picture quality is great and its new size allow it to fit most anywhere.

Easy to set up. Use mobile data to download updates. Watched some movies. Easy to connect phones for mirroring. Remote is easy, the only thing that sucks is that it takes forever to type everything in since you can only use arrows to type out words by picking out the letters. Takes forever to type anything out. Maybe I can connect my Vizio remote that has a keyboard on the back to it and use that. Overall it seems good. Sometimes the player displays no disc when there is a disc, then takes about 2 clicks or 15 seconds before it registers there is a disc. Its my first blu-ray player so I dont have anything to compare it to.

Bought this for my daughter! Excellent image quality, super quiet. WIFI connectivity is great and so easy to set up! It’s compact and fit even in a very small space!!!

We were shopping for a new 4K TV and picked the Sony TV and while we didn't need a new blu ray player my husband picked this up and I'm glad he did. It really seems to make a difference in quality of the picture on our old blu rays or DVDs. The only thing I find flawed is the remote doesn't seem to work as well universally with our 4K Sony TV as the TV remote works to run the blu ray player. That is a trivial thing but I would love to only use one remote and so it would be nice if the blu ray remote worked better since it is the one with the eject button. It seems to have trouble going back to the home page to use the TV apps again. But if only reviewing it based on performance as a blu ray player then it is top notch and another great Sony product you own't regret buying.

It is small and works well. Easy to install. Good price too!

Good quality. Size is outstandingly small/compact. Easy to operate. Remote can operate my Samsung TV too which is a nice plus. Loads average speed. Smart features do Netflix well. Happy with my choice f this unit

First, the good... small size means you can put it anywhere. Easy to set up and an intuitive remote, though very small. Picture quality is great and comes with the usual complement of applications. Things that aren't so great... it takes forever to connect to your network and sometimes needs to be rebooted to do so. Slow when loading applications. no Hulu, and seemingly no way to add it. Great for a secondary room, but no way would I recommend if for a daily driver.

After buying a new tuner I had to replace my surround sound system. Needed it to be able to stream movies as well. Was skeptical at first on its cheap price but it's been performing like a champ. It was a good buy.

Sony got it again. Sleek, compact and also both streams and dvd viewing..excellent combo very pleased with the product

Easy to operate. Convenience of WiFi operation. Excellent picture quality. I haven’t viewed a blue ray yet however very satisfied with this purchase. I highly recommend it.

Great picture and fast functions. Enjoy being able to pop a movie in and not worry about internet connection.

This Blu-ray does exactly what it is supposed to do. It has a great quality picture, streaming works great, it is a simple straight forward player for a great price point.
