I had to set up connecting to wifi almost every time i wanted to open the program that requires wifi connection. It kept losing the wifi signals while i was watching Hulu and youtube. I use this only when i watch DVD. I use apple tv for the programs that need wifi connection.

I bought it to replace my 6yrs old BR player thinking it was going to be an update, but it was returned because it does not upcale 4K(this and my old LG player delivers same pic. quality), streaming apps was slow and poor video quality(my Samsung smart tv is way better) just a waste of time.

This is my third Sony and the best performer so far yet. Loaded fast both streaming and bd. picture is even better than the 5500 if that's even possable. Great adjustments, better menus and interface so far no complaints. Love the size of the new sonys

I returned a recently purchased Samsung BD-J5700/ZA to Best Buy because there was no on/off light and the Samsung device continuously drooped off my wireless network. I am pleased to report that the Sony - BDPS6500 – Streaming 4K Upscaling 3D Wi-Fi Blu-ray Player is an excellent replacement choice. This Sony player works flawlessly. There is a visible on/off light and the Sony - BDPS6500 is always connected to my wireless network. It sets up streaming very fast and both streaming and disk playback image are excellent. I wish I had read all the reviews first to save time. That's what I will do next time!!!!! Thank you to Best Buy for taking back that ridicules Samsung BD-J5700/ZA player.

No one uses blur-ray any more so I returned it. No need for it.

Because I cannot get internet fast enough to stream 4K I decided to purchase a 4K Upconverting Blu ray player.I noticed that this week Best Buy had the Sony BDP-S6500 on sale,so I decided to try that option. When I first connected it up I would see a Blu ray logo and then a black screen that said No Signal and thought maybe I got a bad one,or my Vizio flat wire HDMI cable was not fast enough for upconverting 4K. When I turned the Bluray player sideways the picture reappeared and I knew I had to bad HDMI connection,so I held onto the HDMI cable as I turned the Blu ray player back to the front position and that did it,the HDMI cable kept it's connection connected. I put in the Blu ray 2001 and my Vizio 4K UHDTV told me the signal I was receiving was 2160p. So I am totally satisfied in this Blu ray player and will recommend it to everyone who can't stream 4K programming but they will be able to upconvert their 1080p Blurays to a 4K picture. It's a winner!.

Great product. Well brand, but no HDMI cable included.

Garbage. Won't play dvd's and Amazon never worked.

Have to power cycle frequently to get it to turn on

It works well until it has a glitch and you have to unplug it to reset it. Usually happens while watching Netflix. Updated software and still the same issues. I had expected more from Sony...

I thought this one was a UHD 4K and was told it would play the 4K discs but low and behold it does not so I had to take it back and switch it for another one. It's not at all what you think it is. Its only advantage is it is a Sonny product

First few month use was great then it start to have problem with connection and update too often than normal. Then it stopped working... also the movie 4K dvd put in there and it does not run at all too...

Bought two and one had to be swapped out within three weeks due to software bugs. Slow to download streams. Overall disappointed in this Sony product. For $80/unit I would have thought it would be better than tech built into Smart tv.

I purchased this blu-ray player as a gift for my dad. He had no problem installing it and getting it up and running. He was impressed with the picture quality and clarity. He is not too tech savvy and had difficulty setting up the wifi connection and using the smart features (i.e., the apps). I think there will be some difficulty for those who are new to the world of streaming via smart TV or media players; otherwise, it seems easy to operate.

Thought it was going to be great. Comparison great reviews great but it's not. Hooked it up and first movie 5 min into it lost all the sound. Talk about a bad family movie night. Spend the extra money and buy a Samsung.

My previous Sony 3-D Blu-ray player suddenly ceased to read the discs recently. I have a great Sony 3-D TV so I wanted to replace with equivalent or better despite the feelings on Sony quality not being what it used to be. My frustration with the brand aside, this new unit seems to have superior audio and video than my model BDP-S480. 4 years cannot be a lifespan can it? Cmon Sony. Up the game. So far, this new unit is remarkable. Great performance, bought the black tie protection JUST IN CASE now that I am less than thrilled about overall quality. My much older Panasonic is still great, but used far less. Samsungs fail all the time too. I just expect electronics to work for longer than what they seem to be built for these days.

Never had this happen before. I bought this as a Chtistmas gift for my daughter's family. Product did not power up and was returned. They are waiting for store to restock so they can purchase another.

I could not tell the difference between my Blu-ray player and this 4K upscaler had them hook up to my 4k t.v at the same time. I couldn't tell the diffrent between the two players.

Not happy at all. Inputs are so few now. No component video. No tosch link for audio. Drawer took so long to open. No info on front screen. Very dissapointed. Weighed less than my hand
