I previously owned Samsung's but always seemed to have some problems . I decided to go with this Sony after reading the reviews. This player works Great. It was a very easy installation and connects easily to Wi-Fi. Highly Recommended!!

A seamless add on for a 4K TV. All your normal streaming services are available and now you are ready for the next generation of Blu-ray in 4K 3D. If it matters to you, there is no optical so I had to get a different audio to my tuner.

This is really good bluray player with PS3 online games. I always felt the 1080p amazon prime/ vudu movies streamed from this player looked sharper than played from my LG 4K TV.

I like its compact design and built-in WiFi to run several popular web apps even though I won't recommend 100% running those apps from it unless you have no other devices to do similar things faster. It does load the discs fast and shows beautiful pictures.

I compared prices and capability of numerous Blue Rae Players. My choice of this Sony has proven over and over I made the right decision.

We really like this player. We have all Sony BluRay players in our home since the apps like Hulu, Youtube, and Netflix work great and the quality of the playback of BluRay discs is excellent. This is our first Sony player that converts BluRay discs up to 4k. The Blurays look great upscalled to 4K on our 65" 4K TV. All movie and TV apps look great as well. Great price for this unit as well when on sale.

Great Choice! We were flipping back and fourth between the Sony and another brand both had good reviews. In the end we choice these because of the performance review and the sleek compact look. Very happy with our choice and the overall performance!

This is my first BluRay DVD player. This acts as a smart TV, and DVD player all in one. Its quick, small and sleek. I want to replace all my DVD players to this now. I love it.

upgraded my tv to 4K, do I needed to upgrade the blue ray player. Has easy set up and great picture, wish there was a way to shut off all the apps that come with the machine. 3D picture looks better than regular 2D blue ray.

Good player. Sony makes a good speed oriented player so you don't have to wait long for loading of anything from BluRay discs, USB drive or applications on the device. My problems with it are minimal and could be fixed with a software update. I forget the name of it, it is an option that lets the player go into a sleep mode to power on faster vs turning it off when you press the power button. When this feature is turned on after a few cycles it freezes and you must unplug it to get it unfrozen. My second problem is more of an annoyance, if I have the player turned on watching a file from USB for lets say, 30 minutes, then I hit the Netflix button it jumps to the 'checking network connection.' And rolls through its three steps. Like, why wasn't it already connected!? That's my thoughts and experience with the device. I have two of them.

the quality of the movies are really good on this. it upconverts my dvds quality, and the apps on there are very useful.

Mostly got this model because i wanted a dvd/blu-ray player as well as something to stream movies/shows on. This does the trick. Easy to setup and it also is DLNA streaming compatible. (you can stream movies from your computer/NAS device to your TV)

The Blue Ray player works fine and the setup is simple. It seems to make a little noise when it runs, so I assume this is normal. There are two settings for powering on the device to play a disc. One is slower than the other, so read about it.

This player has worked great for my needs. Even with my present projector which is still VGA, the up scaling is quite good when watching movies. I can only imagine the great picture quality when I do upgrade my projector.

The player does all it promises to do. It is easy to set up and operate and works great in the combination with the Apple TV I have on my television. Thanks to all the other reviewers, as their comments helped me decide!

It works well. The picture is good. It doesn't seem to do all that much for regular DVD and when comparing the regular and blue ray of the same movie there is almost no difference on my Sony 4K TV. Maybe the TV is what makes the difference.

My Sony Blu-ray player is exactly what I needed to replace a costly Blu-ray that crashed on me. This one was under $100 and I have had no issues, great quality picture works excellent with my whole Tv and sound system.

Bought a 4k TV to replace a dead 1080p set and I had not updated my Panasonic Blu-ray player for at least 4 years. Loading time on the old player was horribly slow. I could cook dinner while the disc loaded up for viewing. Painful and time for a new player. I chose the Sony - BDPS6500 for its upscaling and great price on sale. I could have waited for a 4k player to be released, but my 1st Gen positive experiences have been spotty in the past. So why not try the Sony? I'm glad I did. Loading time is amazing compared to the old Pany. Upscaling is great on the 4k TV. Color, detail, lack of motion artifacts - all great. Watched several Blu-rays and the detail and color was everything I wanted out of my 4k TV. I'm sure the 4k players will look even better with 4k discs, but selection is limited and they are $30 apiece. The image delivered by the BDPS6500 will have me reconsidering a 4k player for a long time. The Apps I have tried connect and work well. Everything feels speedy. Upscaling on these sources is also look great. Everything works without any pauses or lock-ups, which you would expect for seasoned tech. For the $99 I paid on sale, this is a great player. And I am happy with my choice. Certainly worth the extra $40 over other, non-upscaling players. The upscaling of BR-D and even old DVDs is really amazing on a 4k TV. If you just bought a new 4k set and want your Blu-rays to look more like 4k material, this is a great choice.
