nice product with great picture and great start up times. very small footprint. One criticism is that the remote is ridiculously small and a little annoying to use. I will hook it up to a universal remote and all should be fine.

Bought this bluray player to replace mty PS3 which stopped working. It's amazing small compared to my old ps3. Got it for the wifi streaming (I use Amazon prime) and usb port, as well as the bluray. It works well - blurays load faster than ps3; wifi and usb work fine. I like how it turns on automatically if it detects an active TV signal connection. I do not have a 4K TV so cannot comment on pciture quailty for 4K TVs but it looks fine on my 720p TV. I wish the remote could be better - it's a bit small and is not backlit. Also, the remote is less functional for usb videos than my PS3 remote was.

I already own an older Sony blu-ray player with built in wi-fi, I got this because I eventually want to own a 4k TV. I realize they are about to release a 4k player, but I'm not about to dish out a massive portion of my bank account to get one if I don't even have the TV yet. I know these players already upscale to the given input, so I think 1080p is actually really nice. The only thing I notice about 4k is that the detail to color is immensely brighter - so take that as you will. The format is a bit more user friendly then on the previous model, as you can customize the home menu. I think my favorite part is that the power cord can be detached - that is a nice feature that can come in handy at times.

Works great. It's SONY :).. Great picture quality, easy set up. 4K looks awesome on my Samsung 4K TV.

This Sony BDPS6500 Blu-ray player was very easy to set-up on my Sony Bravia HDTV via a HDMI connection. For audio, it only has a digital coax cable output (no digital optical output) for connecting to an external audio system which is the only negative issue with this unit. I had to buy a separate digital coax cable to connect it to my home entertainment system. The built-in Wi-Fi connects easily to my home Wi-fi network. So far, I haven't had any disconnects or other problems. I also have an Amazon Prime account and it's been working fine when streaming movies. Std. and Blu-ray DVDs play very well with this unit and the picture quality is excellent for both types of DVDs.

I'd still consider this the testing phase for this DVD player, but so far, so good. I paid less than $100 for this and given that it has 3D, 4K upscaling, and most other things you could ever need in a blu ray player, I don't foresee wanting anything that it doesn't provide. I saw this as a cheap temporary unit, yet powerful, to tide me over until 4K content comes on the market, and it looks to do the trick.

I read a lot of reviews for this and several DVD players. This was the one. It's small but packs power. It's also 3D and upscales to 4K, and can make some 2D videos look 3D. It worked with a Blu Ray video, plus it upscaled the video to 4K, at least that's the signal I got. I got this on sale and it well worth the price. It's nice and compact if you are tight on space. Use a high quality cable for best results. It does make a difference. I'm using an Ibra Pro Gold 4K 3D Ultra HD cable.

This player has everything you need. 4K compatibility, 3D, Streaming, you name it. I did have issues with WIFI. Hooked up wirelessly then it said that I wasn't hooked up. I went back to check and it said I was connected. This wasn't a big deal to me since I don't use the WIFI features of the player. However it may be an issue to you. I haven't owned it for long. I don't trust Sony products. Every Sony product I've purchased has had problems shortly after the warranty was up and if you did not purchase the extended warranty, they will tell you, to bad so sad. I have been a Samsung guy for years but decided to give Sony another chance. We shall see how it goes.

Small size fits well into my entertainment center. Easy to use. Loads very quickly compared to other players that I have owned. Upscales BluRay and DVD for my 4K TV.

This time I got it right. I was wondering why my previous Blu-ray players weren't giving me the quality picture that I was looking for. Although they promised to upscale Blu-ray movies to 4K definition, the quality wasn't there. That was until the Sony- BDPS6500 came around and definitely delivered what it promised. You won't be disappointed but keep in mind that you have to pair it with a 4k TV.

Initially bought an Samsung for half the price. Couldn't tell when it was on Or off. Upgraded to this Sony which has green light and much better apps and Internet wifi access

The Sony - Bdps6500 Streaming 4k Upscaling 3d Wi-fi Built-in Blu-ray Player - Black has been working very well. We bought it at a good price, and it was easy to set up. We watch movies as well as Netflix, and it serves its purpose well. We did look at other Blue Ray Players, but believed this to be exactly what we were looking for. Very pleased with it. Perfect!

Excuse any typos / grammatical errors as I'm typing this as I'm driving back from a long weekend in Vegas. Plays DVDs / Blu Ray, equipmented with wireless wifi that is easy enough for my 7 year old to set up (she is after all student of the month, and I have the bumper sticker to prove it). I chose Sony only because I am a brand loyalist and wanted my equipment in the children's playroom to match the brand in my living room (so if I misplace my remote I can simply walk into the kids playroom and steal there's). To me it's a slightly upper model basic machine, that renders a good picture. Im sure that it will likely last about two years with moderate to heavy use. My last one died a premature death as my three year old assumed the way to play the Lego movie was by inserting Legos action figures into the system (he is not student of the month, but he is dearly loved). This model Is not that expensive, so buy it use it and upon its death you can use it as a frisbee ( kind of looks like a frisbee mates with Stealth bomber).

For someone like me this item was easy to setup. I'm also very pleased with the price, the picture,features and overall product! Way to go Sony!

This player was very easy to set up right out of the box. The interface is easy to navigate, fast and provides some good options to play with. Picture quality is fantastic...amd I believe it is upscaling 1080p Blu Rays to as close to 4K as currently possible. My only complaint is that the external aesthetics of the player are extremely minimalistic. The tiny form factor is nice, but I would have liked to at least see a digital counter on the face to indicate status. However, I didnt see this as enough of a negative to detract a star.

Our PS3 that we have owned for 7 years finally gave up on us. We went out and bought a new PS4 and had to return it immediately because of the HDMI hand-shake issues. We then looked to find another Blu-ray player and found this one and we are very happy with it! The size is small, which is great and the sound that comes out of our entertainment system is noticeably better than PS3. The Blu-ray video is very clear and crisp. It is very solid for the price point.

Small size but feature rich. Great up scaling for my dad's and Blu-ray movies. Apps are readily available. Netflix built in. Great price

No need for a smart tv with this blue ray. Apps already built in. Small compact. Take from room to room. Makes old dvds clear. Can't go wrong with Sony

SONY has crammed a lot of performance into this very small enclosure. It’s not much bigger than the disks it plays thanks in part to an external switching power supply which is a wall-wart and it’s on continuously regardless of the players power switch. This may be one reason why the 5600 response times are so fast. DVD’s and BluRay disks initialize quickly and internet access of sources such as Netflix are almost instantaneous. Video quality on BluRay is stunning and excellent on DVD with great color saturation and black levels. The biggest surprise for me was just how good the internet video streaming quality is from Netflix which is my primary streaming source. The 5600 is connected via HDMI to a SONY Bravia 42 inch LED TV and my viewing position is about 5 feet from the screen. I use a cat6 wired connection directly to my cable router so I can’t comment on the quality of the SONY’s wireless performance. I was going to buy another Roku3 to get streaming to my TV but the BDPS5600 is so good that it isn’t necessary. For about the same price as a Roku3 alone I have video streaming that’s as good as the Roku3 and a BluRay/DVD player as a bonus. SONY has a real winner with the BDPS5600 at this low price point. Highly recommended.
