This sub9 is awesome and a much needed upgrade from SW5 it hits harder on every level than the SW5 & completely changes the dynamics of the Sony theater quad & theater trio, there is no "if", "ands" or "buts"if you are even remotely considering the Sony theater quad or the Sony theater trio then the Sub9 is a MUST! Plse believe me! It now even competes with Sonos Sub4. & Can even be more devestating at times than the Sonos sub4.

I am using this with dual sub 9s and acoustic channel sync with a 75" Bravia 7 II TV. The two subs together with the theater bar 9 and the TV speakers create a sound stage as close to being at a live concert as I have heard. I realize that some will think dual sub 9s is overkill; but they are perfectly matched and perfectly balanced with the bar. The sound quality is seamless from the highest highs to the lowest lows with no booming, thumping or buzzing. I have played bass heavy music and singers who approach the upper limits of human hearing. This system is flawless over the entire range.

Though much larger in size compared to sub 7 or 8, sub 9 doesn’t sacrifice its aesthetics while delivering its exceptional bass performance. Definitely a sub to purchase, especially if you are in the Sony system for wireless connectivity.

I have used several other premium options from top brands in the wireless sub market and this one stands with the best. I personally like the look of it, but some people may be drawn back by the shear size of it. It also weights over 50 lbs which is great fir performance but could be difficult for an senior to handle.

After using Sonos and Samsung subs I wanted something more powerful which is exactly what Sony to delivered with the SW9. This subwoofer is very clean and tight and has a very focused and powerful impact and needed. I do wish Sony would have gone the extra mile and released a more theatrical portage subwoofer with a larger speaker to satisfy the home theater crowd but this subwoofer is about as good as it gets for a sound bar type sub.

Great range at all volumes. Sub is large are heavy but for a purpose. Think its slightly overpriced but other than that no complaints.
