We're glad to hear you are experiencing very good sound quality from the BRAVIA Theater System 6! To clarify, the rear speakers use a compact wireless amplifier box to communicate wirelessly with the front bar and subwoofer, but require a short, wired connection to that small amplifier box to receive power. This design minimizes the wire run to just the area behind your seating, giving you the benefit of true rear channels without running long wires across the entire room.

Great sound, easy to connect and setup. Subwoofer sounds awesome and the app is easy to use. I wish the rear speakers were wireless completely but they still have wires to small receiver unit.

I have the top of the line Samsung as well and I favor this set up due to the bass. In comparison I set the bass on this to +2 dB on the mobile app settings and on the Samsung I have it to max at +6 and this Sony knocked it out of the water for bass. As far as voice the Samsung is slightly better but in terms of value this is by far the better option in my opinion. It took me a while to set up the speakers how I like I went with 4.5 dB on the rear speakers and a 0 for additional adjustments

I bought this for my father who is hearing challenged but not completely dead. The Bravia app allows you to tune the voice feature based on distance and hearing deficiency. At a thousand watts it produces enough sound for medium to large sized rooms. For my dad it is the first time he can understand dialogue without turning the volume up past 50%. At the time of purchase it was $200 off making it at the very least half the price of comparable systems.
