I'm a video producer by trade, I shoot video every day. With that said, I love this camera. Is it as good as a lot of the cameras I own or use? No. But it is much cheaper than those other camera and gets you 95% of the features of far more expensive cameras. Pros: 1. Image quality (oversampled 6k ftw!) 2. Low light performance (not as good as more expensive cameras, but still good) 3. Dynamic range for the price 4. Same body as the $4000 Fx3 5. Audio handle is legit a nice feature with TWO xlr inputs. 6. 2 cards slots 7. Sony's Dynamic Zoom is an incredible feature that everyone should be using 8. Super 35 - That's right, I'm saying that as a pro. If S35 is good enough for hollywood, it's definitely good enough for your video. Now go enjoy smaller, lighter, and cheaper glass. 9. 4k/120 and 4k/60 with minimal crop 10. Built in LUTs 11. Dual Gain sensor and Cine EI mode Cons: 1. Rolling shutter could be a little bit better. (The Fx3 has ruined me with it's near Global shutter read out speed and other cameras in this class such as the GH6 and X-H2s are just better) 2. No viewfinder! 3. Anamorphic mode, but no open gate, which makes you stuck with 1.33x squeeze factor unless you want to cut a lot of resolution from your footage 4. No shutter angle. Like seriously Sony? It says cinema in the name of the camera, all cinema cameras except yours use shutter angle like sane companies. 5. Questionable software choices throughout the camera in general 6. Weird choice for dual gain sensor at 800 and 2500 iso. Would have been nicer if the the second circuit was at more useful range at 3200 or 4000 iso, but it's still nice to have. I'm going to be real here, the majority of people spending money on a prosumer camera for video, does not need more than what this camera offers. Considering this shoots over sampled 6k with an all-I 10bit internal codec, you're getting an incredibly rich and detailed image without breaking the bank. If you're considering the Fx3, or something above this class, I strongly suggest you consider what you are shooting and think about saving the money and go with this camera. I'm nit picky because I'm a professional and have been paid good money on productions while using this exact camera. If I can shoot a TV commercial on this, it'll be fine for your tiktoks.

Love this camera. Once you really learn how to use it and dial in your settings, it works incredibly. Just shot a short film, and I was a little embarrassed to say I shot it on such a B cam type quality, but once I really started to edit and color grade it really stood up to the competiton. I was super close to buying the fx3, but no need.

This was my first ever Sony cinema camera (I’ve owned multiple cinema cameras over the years) and was blown away by the built in features of it- specifically the proxy recording, wireless monitoring, and WiFi transfer to phone. Those 3 things alone sold me on wanting to move deeper into the Sony Ecosystem moving away from Blackmagic. There are some features I do miss, but everything you’re gaining from a compact camera I can’t complain at all. I’m looking to purchase another camera by end of year or early next year and it’ll def be a Sony

The image you get out of the FX30 inter cuts with every other Sony Cinema Line camera seamlessly. The down sampling in 4K produces a fantastically sharp image. The 1080 is just okay, the FX30 performs the best shooting 4K. The newest firmware update improves the usability of the camera with the "big 6" menu. My only gripe with the camera is the placement of the thumb pad "Multi-selector". I wish it were on the back in the same spot the Alpha series cameras have it but that's probably just personal preference. Save the money on an FX3 and buy a fast prime, a light, and a shotgun mic. Seriously, you can get a complete film making package for less than the cost of the FX3 alone...

Great Images and videos but a little complicated menu and not easy to navigate. The monitor is not visible in daylight when filming in some modes.

Great camera for the price! A great rival to the BMPC6k or 4k. Not often you can get a canners this versatile with the quality of codecs available for the price. You can take build this up to bed the camera you need for any shoot. Great but new beginners or pros needing a B camera to pair with their higher end cinema camera.

Great camera for the filmmaking features like cine ei (dual iso, custom luts, etc). The handle makes my workflow easier, no more external recording. Also, the fans on this camera is just cherry on top. Every camera I’ve owned overheats when shooting long videos (podcasts, events). This thing is built to last literally all day. Can’t really beat this video camera for the price. Pretty much has the premium features from a more expensive camera - just gotta work around the weaker low light capabilities, you should light your shots well anyways.

This Sony FX30 has been my favorite purchase of the last 5 years. It has been great for creating content, personal projects, and helping me build a creative portfolio. It is fantastic for getting the dramatic cinema quality look to my video. Exactly what I was looking for.

Amazing camera , the build quality its solid , great video capability, I do professional work with this camera , battery life its great no overheating and the new menu from Sony its good, great investment.

I love it but the noise and low light isn’t that great but it’s a great beginner cinema line camera before you want to step up to a FX3

Best camera in the game don’t play yourself go big

Super 35mm is actually the most common and is the most " cinematic " look and have been around for decades. The full frame look is more common on youtube videos. Its definitly more common because super 35m was cheaper. But film makers have always tried to use as large of a stock as possible. Imax or cine scope is expensive. I think large format / full frame digital got it push in the industry mainly of the arri 65. Personally i see Sony Fx30 is Best Cinema Line Camera

Great cinema camera. I use it for independent films, commercials and private events and so far I like it as well or better than my A7iii Sony plus the fx is Netflix approved.

If your looking for an entry level cinema camera that hold its own against the rest the FX30 is the camera for you.

Incredible camera for the price. You get a high end cinema camera for the price of a normal inexpensive mirrorless. The picture quality is insane and the menus make it easy to use.
