So awesome, this is exactly what my home theater needed. I placed it on a bookshelf, so had to use sound deading material from amazon to keep the bass from rattling it. I'm so glad I went with the 10", you wont be disappointed.

I have not used this subwoofer to its full potential but for the size of the room that I use it really fills the space with bass for all my media.

Love the sound this woofer delivers. I may add another just for music it does the job for movies.

The subwoofer sounds great. The power saver feature is absolutely annoying!!!! The subwoofer turns on and off with a relay clicking noise through out a movie if the input doesn’t detect a strong bass signal after 3 minutes. It is constantly turning on and off between dialogue and action scenes. Talk CLICK action. My old sub used to do it after 30 minutes which was great. It only turned off after the movie. I just leave the sub on all the time now instead of on power saving mode. Which defeats the purpose. Bad design!! I would not purchase again.

This subwoofer looks pretty good and sounds good for movies and music at low volumes. When you try to play music through it at loud volumes, the boomy bass sounds shallow and almost distorted. I would not pay full price for this. I got it on sale and because ir matches my other sony speakers but am looking at upgrading to something better.

After my 4-year old Polk subwoofer failed, I researched and got this one. I wanted a smallish sub to match well with my sound-bar for TV/games. The SA-CS9 is "retiring" in appearance. It produces respectable, adjustable bass for movies and music from its small size and power. It is deep and solid, but has too little power to cleanly drive really high volumes. Installation is easy. A matter of cabling, for the SA-CS9 is not a wireless sub (but Best Buy does carry adaptors online). Has 5-foot power cable. A good array of fine-tuning controls match the sound level of the sub to your main speakers. The rotary volume and high-cut filter are on the back (unlike amps/receivers) yet virtually unmarked, so have to be learned "blind." Instructions for matching the filter to your main speaker size are the best I've ever used. Generally, sub volume should be set at the limit of audibility beneath your main speaker level (unless you crave sound effects). A phase switch helps with front- or back-of-the-room placements. The power-on light is usefully visible from above. After a month of use, I like the sound and ease of controlling my SA-CS9.

It's a good sub. Not too big, so it fit between my end table and record cabinets. It has a power saver switch that turns off power when there is no bass content present. I like that because I don't want it fully powered 24 / 7. You can hear a relay click when it turns off, though. Sometimes it happens in a quiet portion of a movie, but it isn't really an issue to me. If it was, I'd turn the switch off.

For $199, I wasn't expecting much and kept my receipt close by in case I didn't like it and wanted to return it. Well, that's not going to happen. I'm still in shock! This has got to be one of the best sounding subs I've heard yet, and I've heard and owned many. SVS, HSU etc. After a couple of hours of run/burn in, it just comes alive. Granted, this is definitely a sub where the saying "less is more" seems appropriate. Don't cram it in a corner and up against a wall. Keep the volume realistic and low as well as the crossover and you will be rewarded with tight, punchy, deep bass. Not boomy or sloppy and one-noted. This thing absolutely floors me. And to make matters even better, it's does an excellent job with both music and movies. You hear it when you're supposed too, not all of the time. Be patient and set it up properly and your jaw will drop to the floor..

I needed to add some BASS to my office sound system (which I often use to blast music to the rest of my house), and this bad boy is PERFECT for the job!! First of all, the thing is larger and heavier than I expected, which I love. Secondly, it sounds incredible, and has two knobs on the back of the unit - level & cut-off frequency - which as it turns out are both insanely useful; I like to adjust them based on what I'm I'm listening to at the time. And last, but certainly not least is how relatively affordable it is - I paid $160 for mine, and have experienced the exact opposite of buyer's remorse ever since. Highly recommend. God I love bass... PS, sorry about the low quality of my photos; they're mostly just to give you an idea of their relative size.

Very punchy & resonant bass sound and an exceptional value for the price. Sounds just as good, if not better than subs twice the price. Exceptionally simple to set up and use. There are manual adjustment knobs on the back that should be set prior to use, otherwise you will be disappointed in the out of the box performance. The auto-power off feature is nice in principal, but I disabled it because the continual clicking on and off got to be a nuisance. Otherwise it sounds and performs great (paired with a Sony recevier).

Nice clean booming sound, no garble. Has both a manual power button to turn on or off and if you leave it on, this has an additional auto switch so it turns off & on automatically once it senses incoming sound. This is for energy savings. This is relatively small. One can also adjust the volume and frequency. Price is very reasonable, almost $50 off this black Friday week. I am happy with this subwoofer!

As always, great Sony quality! At times the speaker could be very loud producing a heavy base but sometimes I have to tweak the controls.

I've tried few powered subwoofers but I ended up buying this Sony subwoofer. It's very powerful, too loud , very clear , looks better than other subwoofers and not too big which is good as it don't require lot space. I keep subwoofer at half volume as don't want my neighbors jump on me for boom boom of this subwoofer. Literally this subwoofer shakes my house even at half volume . My living room is abt 400 sq feet big but this subwoofer is more than enough powerful at half volume. And best part is not expansive but very affordable price $159
