Goal was to get a nice/affordable sound system for a big screen tv. I was very disappointed with the system and had to watch tv with subtitles. Ali most threw away the whole system until I replaced this center channel speaker with a Polk audio (6 speakers). Difference is night and day. I’m pretty happy with the other Sony Speakers, but recommend looking somewhere else for the center channel.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to upgrade my center channel speaker and currently utilize it with a Pioneer VSX-LX301, and 4 other Yamaha satellite/smaller book shelf style speakers. This Sony speaker is boss. Its so loud, it completely drowns out the other speakers in a smaller living room. I used to turn my phones volume all the way while listening to music via bluetooth through the receiver. This thing kicks. I am even considering just removing the other speakers from my setup and just use this thing. Its big and loud, and in sale, so go get one. Got 4 stars because the speaker doesnt have inputs or any features other than just being a speaker.

I just loved the volume and sound it gave. When I updated to a new a/v home theater, I wanted new speakers to go with it (and moved the old system to my bedroom). It was a choice between the Sony and Polk. The Polk and Sony speakers were on sale, same prices. Listening to the demos in the store, to me, the Sony speakers sounded better. They got louder and had more bass to them. They are also 2 way speakers. The Polk speakers aren’t 2 way and they didn’t seem to be as loud. Since I was already familiar with this Sony center channel, it was an easy choice. Wish I’d bought another whole set while it was on sale. LoL!

Currently using this speaker as part of a 3.0 system (L/R are the towers of the Core series). Since adding this to the original 2.0 setup, dialog is definitely more clear. Arguably, there are probably better speakers to use (but frequently cost a lot more), but if you're upgrading from a basic soundbar, and you don't want to spend too much, the Sony Core series is pretty great overall for the money.

Excellent Center Speaker

I'm in the process of upgrading my home theatre and decided to start with the center channel and work my way out. The dialogue is crisp and clear with this new speaker. Much easier to make out "quiet" movies and shows without turning up the volume so much that it wakes the whole house during action scenes. Only drawback is the size. It's too large to sit underneath my tv without blocking the screen so I ended up having to create a bracket and hang it above the tv. Not my favorite solution but not bad for a great speaker on an excellent sale. Not a fan at MSRP, but on a good sale (50% Off) well worth it.

I bought this with the Sony Sub woofer and two bookshelf speakers during Black Friday and the sound is great! 5.1 Dolby is how I have this set up through a Sony AV receiver.
