My issue is they sound very nice when you are sitting directly in front of them. I have them spread out about 8 feet apart in a 15 x 20 room and when I move out of the seating position they sound like they are in a different room. I know there are speakers better for spreading the sound. It reminds me of older first generation flat screen tv were they would get blurry if you were to far to the side. For the money and a smaller room you can't go wrong though. You will definitely want to add a subwoofer.

Fantastic living room speakers

I've got them hooked up to a receiver, taking in audio from video game systems, a CD player, and my record player. And everything sounds great coming out of them!! They sound best when cranked a little bit. So if you live in an apartment complex (like I do), you may want to invest in some sound proofing. Great quality, well worth the money!!

Best Buy had the Core Series on Sale for 1/2 price just before Black Friday. Throw in the 10% off with the use of a Best Buy Store Card and it turned out to be a really great deal. The sound is great for watching movies, sports, etc. While they are not what you call "top end" speakers, you can always count on Sony to make a good product, and for the price I got, I'm very happy with the results.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.These are excellent floor standing speakers that can pack a punch and don’t take up too much space compared to some of the larger more expensive floor standing speakers. They pair well with other sony core series speakers and are the exact dimensions of the sony up firing speakers so if you have those you can stick them right on top. Now I know that with the increased size of floorstanding speakers you can technically run them without a dedicated sub, but I’d recommend a sub. They can hit some lows but nothing compared to a sub so you’ll definitely want one.

Taking them out of the box, the first thing I noticed was that the stands were solid wood instead of 4 plastic legs like on my other Sony tower speakers. It makes them feel more solid. Audio-wise they were a lot better than my bookshelf speakers. Very satisfied with my purchase.

So I went out and bought one just to prove myself right and that I didn't need one. Well I was wrong this speaker is loud and clear. If you don't have one I suggest you get it. you will be missing out.
