I played Hi-Res songs and these are very clear. I was torn between these and the ELAC Debut floor speakrs but these were half the cost and i thoiught it might be worth a try and it worked! These are very crip and clear. Very good High and Mid. The Bass is tight and you will need a subwoofer for a good bass. Go get them and you wont regret

I am using a Sony center speaker as well, and it also sounds great. The rest is a bit mismatched: Klipsch subwoofer and Polk rear speakers. I wanted the Sony towers to go with my center speaker, but at $200 each was more than I could spend. They first went on sale for $159 and finally $100 each. After buying, realized they are worth the original price, but much sweeter on sale!

Had my eye on a $1,200 pair of ML towers and then saw these on line for about $130ea. I have them hooked up to an Onkyo and let the receiver calibrate the new setup. All music typess sound great, especially orchestra and jazz. As ht speakers, great detail and range that the original Onkyo fronts didn't have. I recommend a subwoofer if you like heavy hitting bass.

The problem I had with my old speakers was that the combination of levels regarding Treble/Bass was that if you increase the level for the speaker, the Bass would go through the roof. With these new speakers, it is now the right combination, and they are more crisp regarding the sound quality.

Owned for 6 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Sony Core Series speakers from the floorstanding towers to the center channel to the bookshelf speakers to the subwoofer to pair with the Sony STR-DN1080 AVR for a Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 setup and the sound is amazing! I upgraded from a Sony soundbar and what a difference! I am definitely impressed and glad I switched! Get the entire setup on special to make it even more worth it!

Also, you cannot go wrong with the rich traditional Sony sound and quality in these speakers... We usually use them for KARAOKE entertainment in our living room...
