But I've been a long time fan of Sony, and these don't disappoint. Volume is more than sufficient, I haven't tested the upper limit but it meets my upper limit without distortion. Also using a Sony receiver to power them.

We have a nice Sony receiver, self powered subwoofer and DirecTV. These speakers do the job nicely and it is a balanced and sweet sounding system.

You've got just that with these Sony floor-standing speakers. I bought "4" (L, R, and the two surrounds)...........really pleased with the sound. And the price at Best Buy is tough to beat!

Recently revamped my home theater in my basement and hooked these up to a Marantz NR1609 receiver and they sound great!

Mine is a huge open basement and the sound quality is excellent. It makes the entire basement vibrate with the full volume. Its a excellent speaker with great sound quality for our family movie nights...

Used For A Complete Home Theater System

I was using old temporary stereo speakers until I was able to purchase these. These speakers do not have a lot of bass, which is why you need a Subwoofer to complement them. I have all Sony components, Receiver- STRDH790. Center Channel- SSCS8. Rear Surround- SSCS5. Subwoofer- SACS9. I am also using Yamaha NS-IC400WH in ceiling speakers. When you use these speakers as part of a complete Home Theater System, as I believe that is how these speakers were intended to be used, I believe that you won’t be disappointed. I bought everything at really great sale prices. I don’t know a lot about Home Theater Systems, and I haven’t heard many different systems but for the money I spent, I am completely satisfied.

Lowered by $50 at Best Buy to to make it a great deal. Speakers are solid with overall diverse range and clean look to make it a great to anyones home theater. Never thought SONY speakers of this quality, but they do.

There's a reason audiophiles consider these to be among the best entry-level/budget speakers out there. That being said, the bass on these is definitely lacking. That's not a huge issue, considering they are meant to be used with a subwoofer anyway. These really are the best floor standing speakers in it's price range in my experience.

Priorities Clean/Crisp over Punch/Groove

At the 199 price mark you'll be happier saving a few more coins for a Polk Signature Series or similar mid tier speakers. The issue with these speakers is they do not punch hard at all. Low mids and Bass are just too polite for most rock music. The treble range on the other hand is very clear and gives the Sony towers a nice crisp clean sound with compressed low end. Speakers are good for Movies and Jazz or more polite music. They do add clarity to the mix so if you have a decent sub they can clean up a rock/pop mix if you have supporting speakers. I would not recommend these speakers with out a subwoofer in any situation. SOUND is GOOD they just don't Kick.

Great towers in a mid level system

Definitely worth what I paid for it, and it sounds great! When I'm running the towers on their own, they have enough range to continue the great sound!
