Screen was difficult to see in bright sunlight even after changing the settings. Backlit pictures were dark. I have had other Sony cameras which were much better and lower priced.

So the camera is over 3 years old and I didn’t get it on sale. I’m wondering if it’s still covered by manufacturer warranty and it’s so old. I should have at least got a discount but I was in need of a camera

In day light i still prefer my phone camera over this . Trust me i could not find any difference in pic quality. I am not very technical person so can't tell you about technical details but overall disappointed.

A little powerhouse

I did not want anything bulky and cumbersome so after some time with the sales associate, I decided on this one. I take it everywhere I go and have captured some fantastic photos! Don't let all the features intimidate you--print out the help manual (couldn't find one for the HX80, so printed the one for the HX90) and it couldn't be easier to learn all its awesome features. Zoom works great, love the viewfinder, and sending pics to my android is a snap! It charges with the same charger I use for my cell, so charging is easy while you're on the go, too! Very pleased, indeed!

Stupendous camera

The camera feels solid and well made. The view finder is fantastic and I find it very useful. The fold out screen is good for focusing on objects that are close to the ground. The Zeiss lens is sharp and the colors caught by the camera are accurate and rich. I should also mention that I owned an RX100, which I liked very much, but I wanted the zoom on the HX80, and I wanted the view finder. I am very happy with this camera!

The only drawback is the small sensor, but the program options compensate for low light situations well. If you’re looking for sharp, extra crisp, low light photos without flash, you’ll need a better camera for that. If you’re a casual photographer, like me, this camera is great. Low cost, great zoom, many program, semi-manual and manual options to play around with. Battery lasts a long time. I have been using it for 5 days shooting photos here and there and transferring wirelessly to my iPhone and the battery meter just went down one bar. I highly recommend this camera, you get a lot for the price.

I was blown away by the zoom performance in the store...I could see text on boxes from the other side of the building that were only blurry lines to my eyes. For several hundred dollars less than the RX-100 I got similar features in a smaller package.
