Outstanding "Bridge" camera

Sony does it better. Take a good product RX10 ii and replace the 24-200mm reach with an longer lens and you get a 24-600 mega zoom Zeis lens on an already better then most "Bridge" camera. Stills, movie, slo-mo this one does it all and does it very very good.
The only problem are the menu's which is the Bain if all Sony cameras. I came from the RX100 series 1 so I was familiar with the confusion. I simply downloaded a Kindle Guide book for the RX10 ii and it eased the pain.
This is an expensive peice but will replace my Nikon DSLR collection on vacation or it becomes my everyday walk around go to peice.
Used the twelve month same as cash Bedt Buy option and I'm off to the races, out to the ranch, or off to the church!

I am a professional photographer that uses Nikon DSLRs and was looking for a bridge camera that rivals my Nikon in quality and functionality. Image quality is top notch and having a 24-600mm zoom is wonderful. Low light capability and functionality is better with the DSLR but not by much. I highly recommend the RX10 iii!

This camera is an all around camera that does just about everything from stills in raw to telegraphic photos, as well as very good video. Yes priced higher than the other camera makers but the Carl zeiss lens stets it apart from the rest, making it a camera you will own for a long time.

Great camera for Daylight Photos

Camera has some great ways to take photos and videos. Like Panoramas works great, Digit Zoom can go up to 2400mm, Slow motion work best at 240 FPS or 480 FPS but will go up to 960 FPS. If you want to do camera remote control you will need the latest Sony phone, Apple phone or Android phone. Remote control won't work with windows phones. Can do HDR photos if you down load app for 9.99. I love the zoom lens, when you want a close-up picture of something without being close to it you can do it with this camera. Camera is pretty slow to download files to computer with supplied USB Cable. Only had for 1 month now and I would highly recommend it to anybody that wants something better then a point and shoot camera with almost the quality of a DSLR. Check out my Niagara Falls pictures daylight picture was close to sunset but looks great but night time picture looks great but a little grainy.

Hi Scott, thanks for letting us know about your concern. The actual data transfer rate depends on many different factors. To ensure compatibility, we recommend using the supplied USB cable and PlayMemories Home software to transfer your files from your camera to a computer. There are several reasons for grains in a photograph. The most commonly known and talked about reason for grains is ISO, a general rule was that grain in a photo increases as the ISO goes up. So, the higher the ISO, the grainier the photo would be. I hope this helps! Dave

Sony rx10 Mark 3 fantastic I have all three RX 10. The mark 3 lens justiies the cost. Smooth zoom. Amazly sharp. The Automatic feature if you understand what camera is going to do. Will simply make highly detailed and sharp image even cropping. This camera has full manual control. The 120 frame recording mode in high definition is without rolling shutter. The thing I don't like about the camera is the lens when looking toward the Sun or a light, otherwise fantastic amazing piece of machinery truely professional gear. Even though it's not.

The combination of the larger Carl Zeiss lens and 1" stacked CMOS sensor makes for excellent image quality, better than my previous RX10. The extra optical zoom range up to 600mm is what I had been waiting for from Sony. So far, I feel pretty good about spending the extra $500 over the RX10 price. All in all, the RX10III is an amazing piece of technology. I am able to carry it in a small shoulder/waist bag and don't have to buy or carrry extra lens.

I recently took this on a vacation and was blown away by the lens and camera in general. I have an A6000 and love it, but for travel, a camera with a one lens does it all, amazing.

I have had the Sony RX0 III since the 5th of May. Let's start with the good. It has an excellent lens which maintains very good quality even at 600 mm and that is the only part of this camera that has no downside.
From here on out I will be comparing the pros and cons together. The one inch sensor does well up to ISO 800 and is still very acceptable for noise at 1600 in naturally lit conditions. Pushing it to 3200 for the sake of augmenting flash or being able to use a faster shutter speed in good daylight conditions is acceptable, but at 3200 in dark conditions it starts to fall down rather badly. It produces great quality photos in good light making it a great all around travel camera, you really get to love the long reach of the lens which maintains F/4 even at full telephoto, but it is not going to be an acceptable backup for wedding or event shooters and this is not only because it will not deliver acceptable low light quality, but it suffers terribly when focusing in low light. Sony dropped the ball by staying with contrast detect focusing and not going with phase detection. It has trouble focusing not only in low light, but also in bright sunlight where you have a lot of specular highlights, such as during the mid day sun. It will eventually focus, but don't expect to pull up and shoot your kid stealing second base and expect to have anything useful.
Although it has a good electronic viewfinder it still has viewfinder lag, so be prepared to shoot bursts and start early. This is not a knock on Sony as all non DSLR s will suffer from this. It will be acceptable to the parent who occasionally shoots his or her child's sports events, but there will be a tough learning curve to learn how to deal with the blacking out of the viewfinder when you stop shooting. Until it has cleared the buffer, you will not see anything in the viewfinder, and it makes little difference in time to clear, whether you shoot a burst of 3 shots or 20. So when you track the kid stealing second don't stop shooting until he gets to second and that is the only way you can track a subject. You need to know its route and move the camera with it. You will see the pictures as they are being recorded in the screen or viewfinder so that helps you track, but stop shooting and you have no idea where that subject is until the buffer clears.I want to make all this clear so those who think that this is a great bargain with the long lens and now they can shoot action from a distance, understand that this camera is absolutely unacceptable for anyone who shoots sports and has to get the shot. Not only because of the inability to track the subject, but also because of it's hit and miss focusing problems.
Sorry that I have dashed the hopes of the sports shooters and I know of which I speak, as I shoot many sports events and believe me I tried to make this camera work reliably and I can't do it . I get tired of lugging around my Canon 7D and a 70-300L and I had high hopes for the RX10 III, but the DSLR and good glass gets the shots.
Alright, the camera has its good points otherwise I would have returned it, although I will send it back to Sony as I hope there is something wrong causing the terribly erratic focusing. I find it hard to believe that they would consider this camera acceptable. Also they sold out the first run rather rapidly and I understand that it is not going to be available again for shipping for awhile. Lends me to think that maybe they had to make some corrections.
The good. It shoots really great 4K video and does it very well in less than perfect light. Naturally it will shoot HD and SD, but once you see the 4K quality you will be impressed. Makes my 5D Mark 3 look really bad. It produces MPG files from the XAVC format which you can view on any computer, although it has to have a decent video card to play 4K smoothly. It also shoots s-log for those who want to grade their video. I would also add that it also shoots better quality HD video than my 5D Mark 3, providing you can stay below 1600 ISO, which is quite easy to stay at or below, as the 4K is recorded at 30 FPS so you can use a shutter speed of 1/60th and F/4 for the aperture.
It has an excellent dynamic range and when shooting RAW I process the files in Adobe Camera RAW and the overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows are easily recovered. The JPG files are very good straight out of the camera and will be considered excellent for most purposes. Color rendition is very good. Flesh tones are quite true. The RAW files will be 20 MB and the High Quality JPGs will vary between 5 and 8MB, dependending on if the full spectrum of light that the camera can capture is present.
The camera handles well, is comfortable to shoot with, some of the button placements are not to my liking, but body size constraints enter into that. The aperture is adjusted with a ring on the lens. It has a detent that can be engaged for photos or disengaged for smooth travel when shooting video. The manual zoom ring works well and when set at high speed you can rock the ring back and forth with your thumb to easily zoom silentlly when shooting video.
So in summary this is a very good camera when used as a general purpose camera. Great for traveling. Shoot from 25mm to 600mm, F/2.4 at the wide end, F/4 at full telephoto, great video, nice screen, very good electronic viewfinder and a really high quality lens, but it isn't cheap. Its extreme zoom versatility in an easy to carry package and 4K capability are its selling point. For those who decide to buy this camera, buy extra batteries. It has a rather short battery life and it doesn't come with an individual charger so buy a charger if you want to charge your batteries while you are using the camera. Also download the manual as it doesn't come with one and you will need to read it as it tends to be less than intuitive concerning the features and controls.

What a great camera, finally an all in one that I don't feel like I am missing anything.
I owned the original RX10, which is wonderful as well, but I wanted a longer zoom. I then tried the Panasonic FZ1000, and liked the extended zoom to 400mm equiv. but the image quality severely lacked compared side by side with the RX10. Maybe my FZ1000 had a bad lens or something, but it was much worse than the RX10.
I then moved to Sony a6000 and then a7II and left the all in one camera behind.
Then I had a big trip coming up where I knew I wanted a longer zoom. I played with the idea of an adapted 150-600mm, but that's crazy huge. Though it would likely be better image quality, especially in low light, I really didn't want to be changing lenses and dragging lots of gear.
Then I was lucky enough to find an in stock RX10III and picked it up. So glad I did, it was the perfect camera for the trip.
Image quality is great, that lens is amazing. it was great that I could go from 24mm to 600mm without thinking about it. For travel, this was perfect for me.
It is a bit big and heavy for a day to day camera for me, but I love the versatility.
If you can afford it and want above 200mm, go for it. If you only need to 200mm, the original RX10 or RX10II are cheaper. The Panasonic FZ1000 is not bad for the price, but I preferred the Sony. Nikon has an interesting option coming fall 2016. It might be a great option when it comes out, though not as bright a lens at 600mm. For today, summer 2016, this is the camera to beat.

I'm a Sony mirrorless user and while I love the compactness of the mirrorless system, this time around I was looking for an all-in-one camera with a terrific zoom lens for an upcoming trip. I didn't want to be lugging around numerous lenses and having to stop and change lenses all the time, nor did I want to invest in a lens for my mirrorless that costs just as much as this camera. I looked at numerous superzooms, including the FZ1000, the G3 X, and the SX60. What sold me on the Sony was the combination of the 600mm equivalent and the sensor. Admittedly, I am partial to the Sony environment and it was easier to navigate it's often convoluted menu system knowing what I already know about Sony. The camera itself is heavier than I anticipated but after a few weeks of use, I have grown accustomed to the weight. It's a fantastic zoom camera outside on bright days, not so much inside when trying to use the zoom. It's still great for use inside, just not as a zoom camera or as an indoor sports photography camera when using a fast shutter speed, bumping up the ISO enough to compensate for the speed gives noticeable noise. But, I bought this mainly for outdoor photography (sports, landscape, and safaris) and that is where it shines. So I can't complain too much about the price, I knew what I was getting in to.

I was looking at the a6500 and a telephoto lens but best buy had this discounted and open box so I went for it. The zoom is great and the 4k video is clear enough to grab decent photos from. It also feels more solid than the a6500 and the a7. Great second camera.

Lots of controls on separate dials, like exposure compensation, mean you dont have to dive into submenus to make settings. Image quality is excellent and the lens is sharp, even with "Clear Zoom" I'll upload some images after I down sample them. Unexpected advantage with the rapid frame rate helps capture birds in flight.

This 3rd generation of the Sony RX10, also known as the RX10m3 or RX10 III, has a super-sharp fast Zeiss f/2.4 - f/4 lens with 35mm equivalent range of 24mm wide angle through powerful 600mm telephoto. Shoots excellent quality stills and 4k video. I decided to get rid of my larger camera and 5 interchangeable lenses in favor of this single camera / lens solution. I am very pleased with the results so far. Excellent samples of shots taken with this camera can be found online including the dpreview.com website.

The lens is great, and you can take some very nice photos in daylight, but the sensor is too small for high quality photos in moderate to low light, and you can't get shallow depth of field that sets the subject apart from the background. Camera menus are a mess, with only some ability to customize.
At this price and bulkiness, it's better to get a DSLR with a larger sensor and then a 10X or more zoom, or save money and bulk and get a smaller camera with the same size sensor - unless you really need the telephoto end of the zoom range.

If you want a great do-it-all camera to take for good pictures and videos on trips and family events, at this time I would recommend this camera. Sensor size gives you really good pictures and good low light quality. Built in zoom lense allows you to take one camera without multiple lenses. Video quality is very good. Zoom length covers just about any focal length you need.

Went to BestBuy to find out when I could see one of these. No stock, but I could buy and return if necessary. Glad I did it. The lens is worth the price. The image stabilization is much better than I expected. The autofocus is very busy. Even in single-shot mode it is active at power-on doing pre-focus. It analyzes the image to optimize focus. It is usually quick and usually right. Sometimes focus takes several seconds. Using the 600mm zoom to reach a distant mountain thru miles of haze, the autofocus struggles with the low contrast. There are a lot of focus modes. I still got a lot to learn about how to use them.

Great camera. Not the quality of a digital SLR but that's not why I purchased it. For a 1-inch sensor, image quality is great in good light, and good at moderate ISOs. I especially like the range of 24-600mm in a single lens, and the fact that it has an attached lens means no dust on the sensor from changing lenses.

The lens is superb, I am amazed at the closeups and 600mm zoom works so well for birding. You would have to spend a lot more money to get this quality lens in another camera. The only downside for me is the menu is a little confusing and it doesn't have a touch screen.
But I would buy it again.
