Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the Cyber-shot RX100 IV's impressive image quality, compact size, and excellent 4K video capabilities. The camera's small size and user-friendly interface make it easy to use, while its low light performance and amazing screen images are also highly praised. On the downside, some customers find the price to be on the higher side, and the zoom and battery life could be improved.

Best Point and Shoot hands down!

Being a theme park lover through and through I was looking for a camera that could capture every moment in the parks. This camera does high speed video(up to 960fps), 4K video (in 5 min shots), and more picture options than you can shake a stick at. The camera is the perfect size to slip it into your pocket and to get out in the action. Yes it's on the pricey side but for those who aren't willing to compromise on the newest tech this is the camera for you. The picture I added shows how big it is. I have average size hands btw.

I wanted to give 4.5 if there is the option. Best all around pocket point and shoot camera you can get on the market right now for less $1k. Of course Sony is not discounting it on the price either. It's not cheap. Great picture quality. Even better video quality. Battery life is short if you shoot video. Make sure to have extra batteries. You'll not going to find anything this small to match this camera in picture, video quality and features. I didn't give it 5 due to low battery life and price. But is worth it if this is what you need.

Wow the pro reviews are spot on. Was initially skeptical and came really close to returning before my 14 days limit but kept it as I fell in love with its performance especially the the low light performance. Bought this specifically for a trip to Italy and wanted to take pictures where flash photography was not allowed and my RX100m4 was outstanding. I didn't think I needed the EVF but it's awesome especially in bright sunlight when my lcd gets washed out! No regrets, money well spent! I bought the screen protector and original grip as well as a neoprene wrist strap which saved me from dropping this more than 3x!!! Only complaint is that it's not Jeans or khakis pocketable but was fine in my jacket pocket.

    Exciting Pocket Camera

In this camera, Sony has rolled out a whole collection of new technologies that together create many new avenues for getting better pictures. Most important is the fact that Sony has inclluded a processor which allows much faster processing of data and therefore permits 4k video (every frame is 8 mega pixels, so every frame could be a photograph) and some slow motion functions that are really fun. (Our four year old slurping spaghetti in slow mo.) Also, a very fast repetitive frame rate. There's also a cool eye focus function to keep your frame continuously focused on the closest eye of the person closest to the camera. What they call the "back lit" sensor increases light to the sensor and thus better pictures in low light situations, but individually snapped pictures in normal light are not that much better than the Mark II and III, so if that's all you want to do, buy one of the older ones and save some bucks. Not me. I wanted the whole enchilada, and it is exciting taking pictures with it. .

This camera is my go everywhere pocket camera. I wear it in a small case on my belt. It takes fantastic detailed shots, and super nice video. I've had 2 other small sony cameras in last few years but upgraded to this one mainly for the larger 1" sensor, and the bright viewfinder. (1.8-2.8 min aperture is perfect for low light shooting) Oh, and the ability to shoot in RAW. The tiny flash is very powerful but the camera always adjusts for it and all the shots turn out great! Truly amazing. I'd only replace it if they come out with the same camera with a longer zoom or if you could shoot longer than 5 min in 4K video. This one has a 24-70mm zoom which is perfect for most instances. I actually also purchased from Best Buy the Nikon P900 which is larger but has a 83x zoom. It takes great shots also. The paring of the two cameras is what I took to Europe on a trip recently. Still very happy with both cameras.

I have had this little camera for just over a week. My very first impressions is that the camera performs magnificent for its size. You can immediately tell that this is a quality product by the weight of the camera. It just feels solid! However, remember its size. This camera is small and navigating the buttons and holding the device can be a challenge at times. Just remember, if you want small and compact, you’ll have to deal with issues like this. It is definitely not a show stopper for me! My main reason for picking up the RX100IV is to have a small and compact camera that can be easily carried anywhere that takes as good of a picture as my other Sony mirrorless (A7R, A6000). For its size, and the new stacked 1” sensor, it indeed delivers! It’s hard to believe the quality of the images coming from this tiny camera. I have had other point and shoot type cameras in the past and was forced to deal with mediocre photos at best, but what do you expect from a point and shoot. The RX100IV is quite the opposite. This little gem delivers great images that will seriously compete against its bigger and older siblings. The camera is loaded with features! Way too many to discuss in full on this forum, but the extras it has inside really make this a fantastic option for many photo enthusiast. The video options for one really put the RX100IV above many of its current competitors. Having the ability to place a point and shoot type camera into full manual mode is another fantastic option that gives you total control of your picture and video taking ability. Just ensure you have the right SD cards to record the type of video you are trying to capture. The higher rate HD and 4k video options alone require a much faster SD card (U3) than normal video capture. There are a few of small complaints that I have discovered over the past week of use. There may be more as I become more aware of the many features within the camera. The first of which is the limited battery life. It’s not too bad if you are only taking photos, however; if you start working with the numerous video options, the battery can go quick. I immediately bought two extra batteries when I purchased the camera. I might get more depending on my activities when using the camera. Another issue with the camera is the heat generated when using it while filming video. This little pup gets hot! Just remember, if you’re serious about videography, you might think about getting a setup that is specifically for video. I have yet to get a warning message, or have had the camera shut down due to the heat, but this is a known issue with the camera. Sony even cautions you about the heat and the devices ability to shut itself down to prevent damage. Another drawback for me personally is the lack of a hot shoe. I would have liked to have this option to use off camera flash if I wanted. The tiny flash on the camera really could have been left off in order to make room for a hot shoe. But that is my opinion. Some may find the tiny flash sufficient. Lastly, some might steer away from the RX100IV due to its price point. At nearly $1000, this might be out of many users’ price range and budget. However, when comparing the total build quality, image quality, amount of features and the overall functionality of the camera, I’m not sure that a lower price is feasible. This is definitely a great little camera that I am totally impressed with. I will take this everywhere I go and I see it getting used very heavily. In many cases, it could potentially be used over my other mirrorless setups, that’s how good this camera is. I would recommend it to anyone who is serious about their photography and for those who are looking for exceptional quality in the images, and video, that they produce.

    Excellent, Compact Pro Camera

I was looking for an alternate camera for when I do not want to travel with my (heavy & bulky) 7D DSLR but have the similar features / capability of a professional DSLR. The Sony RX100M4 is a camera that fulfills this need. The camera is small and fits into the palm of my hand and I can travel very light but get excellent photos and videos. The camera has all of the features of my DSLR (Advanced Focusing System, Object Tracking, Programmable Memory Recall, Speed, Shooting Modes, etc.) The camera can also save photos in RAW format which is a must for the highest quality images. JPEGs are also very good and compression does not seem harsh as my Sony Video Camera with the same sensor compresses stills. Zeiss optics provide excellent, sharp results. I purchased the camera with the Accessory Grip and LCD panel protector. I've attached a couple of JPEG images from my first outing with the camera all shot in Auto Mode with no post-processing. Too bad the file size limit on images for review are limited to 5MB. In all, a worthy, professional, compact camera that is easy to travel with and get great shots and videos.

I had been looking for a camera that fit a couple things I was looking for. I wanted a camera that was small & compact, took amazing shots like a DSLR and would be a huge item to lug around. This camera is all that and more! Way better then I expected, I am an extreme beginner to the Photography scene, and I can say from messing with the features as also reading up on a few photography tricks, I am producing some professional shots from this bad boy. I love how I can transfer my pictures I took via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to my cell phone or tablet. I recommend getting the 64gb Sandisk memory card. The back LED screen folds over and can take a selfie pic of that is something you want to do, the picture quality is not jeopardized and looks fantastic! The viewfinder is awesome when outdoors in the sun and the screen may not show so well. There are many more features I am exploring but I just cannot believe the pictures coming out of this thing. I can honestly see the black heads and skin pores of the people I take a pic of lol. In my opinion, this was a great and rewarding buy for the price. This is also my 1st digital camera, not to say I am not aware of how other cameras work, I just know the pictures are definitely better then that of a Cell Phone and are better then any of my other friend's pictures!!

I own a Nikon D7000 and a Nikon D600 but chose to take my new Sony RX 100M4 on my recent vacation out west. I just didn't want to lug around all the cumbersome Nikon equipment for 10 days in the wild. Turns out it was a great decision. It was easy to carry everywhere I went and turns out it takes great photos and video. I came back with what I think are some award winning shots. With the flip up screen I also got some great selfies of me and my wife. Zoom is pretty decent however a few times I would have loved to have my 500mm lens. A bit pricey but from the quality of pics I ended up with I would say is is definitely worth it. I raved about it so much my son bought one just a couple of weeks ago just before heading off to China for two weeks

This camera is by far one of the best purchases I have made (this following a Sony A7S and an Olympus OMD EM-5 MARK II). Here are some of the reasons why this camera is the complete package: Excellent picture quality. It is rocking a 20.2 megapixel, 1-inch sensor. It looks identical to the Sony RX100 M3, but it adds a backlight in the body for better image quality at high iso or taking pictures at night. The body is light but well built and easy to handle. The ring around the lens lets you set the aperture and on auto-modes it lets you zoom in and out. The ergonomics are great and very functional. The 4K Video quality is some of the cleanest imagery coming out of a camera in this price range. And the slow-modes prove to be a lot more fun and can make for some fun videos. Overall for the price this camera is pocketable, fun to use, has excellent image quality and could replace a proper DSLR.

This was the best decision I have made for my family. My wife just needed something she could pull out of her purse and shoot my sons life as he grows. The iPhone just were not cutting it anymore due to the mobility of a four year old. For almost a year I have been looking for another camera my wife could use in a QuickDraw. After tons of reviews and multiple visits to multiple camera stores I decided to get this one from best buy. The reason I bought it at best buy was because they offer the best warranty hands down. And they went over it with my wife when she picked it up. Haven't missed a good shot since we purchased this camera. Oh and there are so many cool features that are easy to use, but the best is the cameras ability to take awesome pics in low light. Even in near darkness this thing works awesome.

I went in to Best Buy to buy the RX 100 Miii since my budget was about $800. I saw the RX 100 Miv as an open box for $809 and instantly jumped on it. It was missing a battery but they found one from another unit (Miii) display unit. This camera is everything that you want it to be. I have an older Panasonic Lumix LX-3 (love it) and also a more recent Fujifim X-Pro 1 (love it too). The Miv is the perfect balance of size, performance, and quality. I picked up a high-end Class U3 card from Amazon and I'm now complete and unlocked all the high-speed high-quality video options. I only wonder what I will do with 4K videos since I don't think my MBProR (13") loaded can edit or even assemble simple videos. Go and get it. And if you see an open box - inspect it and don't look back. At $150 off, $50 reward certificate and $685 gift card - it was an easy choice. Really easy.

This camera is super sharp, super compact, and is able to even take 4K video! A great little package, that comes at a price, the RX100 M4 is packing a big punch. Taking it out for a test spin, it has great colors, lots of options and take amazing still photos. The video is great at 4K, some small artifacting it looks like, but you have to have a steady hand when shooting with this in video, as its easy to get jittery. Overall very happy with this purchase and it will be a powerhouse in a compact easy to travel and cary form factor.

This camera is incredible! It does have a lot of little quirks though. The highlights get blown out a little easy, the battery life is terrible, and it can only record 4k for 5 minutes. It also requires a U3 SD card. Even if you have a U1 SD card that is fast enough it won't allow you to use it for the maximum settings. If you don't need 4k I would recommend getting the older models, or else wait for this model to drop in price!

My main camera is a largish Canon 5D Mark III with the normal assortment of lenses and other accessories. This makes for a heavy load to travel with. I was looking for a lighter point-and-shoot camera with good features to supplement my "big rig". This camera delights me every time I use it. My main requirements were image quality, RAW shooting and a view finder. The little but effective pop-up flash was a bonus! I hate using the back screen in bright sunlight. The EVF is absolutely outstanding! There is a lot of power in this little camera and studying some after-market books will give you a much better insight into its capabilities than the Sony manual. Necessary accessories for me were the Sony AG-R2 grip and the Sony PCK-LM15 screen protector.
