Customers are saying
Customers frequently mention the Cyber-shot RX100 IV's impressive image quality, compact size, and excellent 4K video capabilities. The camera's small size and user-friendly interface make it easy to use, while its low light performance and amazing screen images are also highly praised. On the downside, some customers find the price to be on the higher side, and the zoom and battery life could be improved.

Not as clear
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thought we would get crystal clear pictures even though we didn't by an slr or mirrorless. I wouldn't recommend for $900 we paid for

Too complicated
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did a lot of research. Been a pro photographer and was really diligent in my choice, Wanted something to use when I didn't want to carry my DSLR. Not satisfied with quality of pictures and and menus are way to difficult to follow. Would probably pick the Canon G7 Mark ll. The Canon does not have a vuefinder but would prefer it for it's simplicy. would return if I could. Have kept it too long trying to figure it out.

Not what I was expecting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the money that I paid for this product it was not really worth it because there was not much zoom and for being a 4K cam it did not have great resolution!

Fantastic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Found one of these gems open box today for $800. Still had the tags on it, never used. Guess it was an instant buyer's remorse return. After burning $50 in rewards and $200 in a work gift card, I walked out happy. Awesome upgrade to my gen 1 RX100, which is up for sale now (still a fantastic camera). The M4 is the king of P&S's for now and a while, I'm betting. Worth $1k post-tax? That's up to you, but if you can net it down to $600 or so, it's a no-brainer.

Good Camera Adorned With Worthless Features.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The viewfinder is terrible it operates just like another screen and not like a proper viewfinder. The spec details inside the viewfinder are illegible and a waste of space. Video recording is no better then what the latest iPhone offers... 4K is useless if the lens constantly jumps focus which it does. In addition taking slow-mo recordings was un-intuitive at best... it seems like Sony stopped improving the GUI on their cameras years ago bc it certainly hasn't changed much from my old sony DSLR from 2004/5 but never-the-less it is still logical. On the plus side the camera does have a nice feel to it and the screen is definitely hi-res and sharp. Autofocus was above average and It does take great pictures however given everything else wrong with it I ultimately decided take it back. $950 for CMOS / 20 megapixel images is so 2012. Perhaps Sony would make for a better camera if they just focused on making a better camera without tacking on useless 'new' features to justify a price hike with each passing year/model.

Amazing pocket camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Canon digital shooter for many years and own a few different bodies and L series lenses. But I went to a few social events earlier this year where I was wishing for a high quality pocket camera where I couldn't or didn't want to drag around tons of DSLR gear. Last week, I was gearing up for a ZZ Top concert in DC. The venue would not allow big cameras, but would allow camera phones and pocket cameras. So I decided that it was finally time to invest in a high end pocket camera. I wanted a small camera with a great lens that could perform well in low light and had high megapixel resolution. I did some research and bought the Sony RX100 IV. I have now used it one time, and right out of the gate, I am thrilled with the results. With a Zeiss lens and 20 mpx chip, this little camera is a beast. The photos I took from in front of the stage easily rival my Canon gear. The photos were bright, tack sharp, and had incredible color rendition. The camera has wifi capability, and I could transfer the photos from the Sony to my Samsung phone and push them online right from the concert. Features include 4k video, which I have not used yet, and a pop up viewfinder. I wish the zoom had a little more range, but by topping out at 70mm, keeps the working aperture very bright. Yes, it's expensive, but will grab pro level shots right out of your pocket.

Loved this camera, until it broke. Lousy service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been watching the RX-100 for a couple years until I finally decided to pull the trigger on the Mk IV. I loved this camera- for its size it took much better pictures than my prior two APS-C DSLRs. I told everyone I knew to get one. Three months out of warranty with no trauma it suddenly would not turn on or charge. I brought it to two different camera repair shops who quoted me $400 and $450 for a new power supply board. At the time we paid over $900 for this camera and just after the warranty expired it goes caput... I emailed Sony that for this price point the camera should not have these problems so early in its life span. I was told sorry it's out of warranty, nothing we can do. I have a Nikon D200 that is now 13 years old that has given me no problems other than having to buy new batteries and one servicing. Sony may have the some of the best sensors and cameras around but their build quality and customer service has yet to catch up with their competitors.

NO HOTSHOE!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used Sony RX100 mkII for years. I have not purchased anything since, because I can't do without the hotshoe on the Mark II. Dear Sony, PLEASE, bring back the HOTSHOE!!! I can't believe that more consumers care about the useless viewfinder on this camera than a hotshoe. Also, the pop-up flash creates a horrible lens shadow. The RX100 line is the best line of point and shoots. I'm a pro photographer that uses a DSLR, but I used to love the Sony RX100 as a "go everywhere" camera.
