Excellent quality in a small camera.

Being a long time DSLR user this is my first small pocket-able camera with the features I am used to and I will use it to compliment my DSLR. The 1.8-2.8 aperture Zeiss lens is now the sharpest lens I own and requires no sharpening when I process my raw files. I shoot in manual mode nearly all the time which was easy to set up because of the flexibility and customization abilities of the camera. It is very small and it felt very different for me at first, but now my DSLR seems huge in comparison. As an advanced user this small camera is a jewel to use and the results are wonderful. As I write this I can't think of a thing I would change about it or a complaint I might have.

Overall, the Sony RX100 line of cameras are a great little pocket-sized cameras you can slip into your jeans pocket and make great every-day cameras. Image quality is good, and is shoots RAW. A bit more expensive than the competition (Canon G 9X for example is cheaper) but the Image Quality of the Sony is better in my opinion. Good camera for anyone from a general snap-shot photographer looking to just capture every day life, to the more serious photographers who want a portable camera for taking on walks, hikes, etc. Get the one with the view finder (found on the RX1000 Gen III, IV and V versions) very useful in sunny weather. Only complaint is that the finish is quite slippery and there isn't much of a grip, so maybe get the leather case too and a neck strap or wrist strap as well. Also get spare batteries too, as this goes through batteries reasonably fast. I also am not a fan of Sony's layout where you have to use menus to change common settings (shutter speed, ISO, aperture) but you can re-program the lens ring and other buttons to your needs.

Fantastic Camera, but Avoid Humidity
Posted .

I purchased this camera for a long-term backpacking trip, and loved the quality and features, especially the manual features for long exposure and the timelapse app that you can buy for $9.99. However, my camera died after 2 months in Central America from humidity. I took all of the precautions necessary, including dessicant packs and a dry bag. However, the moment you take the camera out in 90% humidity, you risk damage. Now imagine trying to do a timelapse for 15 minutes on a pier on the barrier reef in Belize, and imagine how much humidity the camera is being exposed to. Sony does not cover "water damage" and will not repair or replace this camera. Many searches online find people with the same problem. So if you are going to buy this camera, which is a fantastic camera, make sure you get a warranty that will cover water damage and corrosion, or you will be out $800 like me.

Took great photos at a concert. This camera performed well beyond my expectations. It was very easy to use! I've used other brand names but this is the first time I can actually say I have been completely pleased and satisfied with the ease and quality of my pictures.

This is great for quick shots, I haven’t been able to try every mode, but I have used it for concerts and they look pretty good so far. It is probably meant for someone with more experience with camera work, but as a beginner, I am happy with this selection. One downside is the program the camera has when you link it to your computer is no longer serviced so you have to work offline. Not a big deal, I personally make my edits in the offline version and then export to a different service if i need anytbung else, but be ready to not have the full services of Sony Memories. Great video and you will have to change the settings for full zoom.

I really thought I would get better pictures but it could be me as it is a bit complex. I think that given the price it should have had a few more options like dust proof, touch screen, and not as delicate as one needs the grip and to make sure one wears a strap as it's a bit slippery and hard to hold. That said I still need a bit more time to experience the camera a bit more. Overall quality and over time I should get better at using it.

The Sony Cybershot III is the perfect camera for someone who wants near-DSLR quality in a point-and-shoot package. Just set the camera to full auto and shoot! If an enthusiast wants more control over specific imaging parameters, this camera offers a full spectrum of manual controls as well as raw imaging capability. Want a bonus? Check out the Cybershot III's video recording quality. Excellent video/audio quality makes it easy to forget that this isn't a dedicated video camera! Wonderful camera! Worth every penny!

This works way better than any point and shoot camera. The intelligent scene mode was the one that I used often and believe me the photos turn out great with it. The amount of options it offers to the enthusiasts is definitely great and the nice thing is that it is so compact in size that you can carry it around anywhere you go.

I did a lot of research before getting this camera. It is not inexpensive, but has many features and takes very good pictures, especially indoors in low light. The build quality is outstanding. The extra cost over the earlier models for the viewfinder and hinged screen is worth it.

For the size , this is a great camera. I have a dSLR but when I don't want to lug that around this is the one for me. Amazing pictures, simple yet it can become in depth as you want.

This literally blows away my Canon DSLR in terms of image quality, video quality, autofocus speed, low-light performance and white balance accuracy. The Canon T3i is admittedly a couple of years old, but I am thrilled with this Sony camera after a month of use. I thought the 3x zoom would be a little limiting, but at 100% crop, the image looks perfect! So you get the benefit of a zooming in after the fact. For video, you have very sharp 1080p at 60fps, 720p at 120fps, intelligent steady shot for pro quality moves without a steady cam. This excels in photos and shoots cinema quality video. If you can't tell already, I love it!

This is a great camera!! It is exactly what I was looking for in a compact camera when I can't take my Nikon D7100 with me. It takes a little while to figure out the the knobs and the settings but its worth it. I found that even the auto setting can take a great picture. The big improvement of this model compared to the previous DSC-RX100 II is the addition of the electronic viewfinder. Great move Sony!!

This is a hard one for me to rate. I bought this as a small camera I could use tightly packed into motorcycle bags for our trip to Sturgis 2020 (also taking my camera bag with the Nikon D7500)
The plus: The images are beautifully bright and vivid (Sony does not disappoint here). The menu was simple enough for a learn on the go kind of thing (except pairing, we will get to that) AND it let's you shoot in RAW (almost unheard of in a point n shoot)! It also took beautiful selfies as well as panoramic shots!
The negatives and why I decided to return the camera: Bluetooth for me was a MUST but Sonys playmemories mobile/imaging edge mobile app is absolutely impossible and infuriating to link. After reading for a few hours on my vacation and several attempts, I gave up. It's a deal breaker for me. Apps fault, not camera I'm sure. The zoom leaves a lot to be desired especially if shooting in sport/action. You have to be in the mist of action for a shot and for motorcycle stunt shows, not a safe place to be. The camera shutting down after jumping from screen or eye piece surprisingly annoyed me, I feel like I missed a lot in-between. The last bit of disappointment I have regarding this purchase was the leather case I bought to protect it. There is a rubber one on Amazon but with the pop out eye piece it makes for a hard fit. The case said it could be used with a tripod (partially true) you can screw the unbuttoned case to a tripod but you can not put a quick release plate on it, you can't unbutton the case then, quite ridiculous design. Again, not the cameras fault but for a pricey little camera I'd prefer to have some protection available. I sadly returned both the camera and case.

I'm a full time pro photographer, and I needed a new compact. I'd heard good things about the RX100 series, and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Image quality is top notch - controls are intuitive and much better than any other compact I've used. The viewfinder is a great addition. I wish it had a hot shoe, but in a package this small, it's hard to argue.

I am still figuring some things out, so I know it will be even better with time, but so far I am loving this camera! The pictures that I have taken while traveling and visiting family this summer came out beautifully! Sunsets, sunrise, landscapes, and action shots of kids playing at the beach all came out crystal clear with perfect color and light. I love how it takes quick shots and captures the moment perfectly, even when the subject is in motion. I would buy it again.

I love my previous Sony RX-100 and that is why I bought this new one bcause it has a lot of excellent new features that I love and use.
With it I get excellent photos and videos and at the same time it has a very convenient size to carry on a trip, I am not the type of person carrying big cameras with lenses and accesories if at the end the photos are very similar or better with this.
The only thing I am dissapointed is that is very east to scratch on the borders, mine has 2 months and has like 10 dents, the previous one has that too

Best Pro Point and Shoot on the Market!

The Sony RX100M3 is one of the most potent point and shoots on the market today hands down! The files that this camera produces are stunning and having a built in electronic viewfinder in a camera this small is really revolutionary. Plus a 24-70mm f/1.8 Zeiss lens which results in gorgeous possibilities. Again the best point and shoot on the market and don't think anyone would argue with this. It does take some time getting use to customizing this little guy, but once you get it figured out a very cool camera.

I was looking for a small camera that would fit in my purse & could take everywhere. I read a lot of reviews and decided this was the camera that I wanted. I saw that Best Buy had one in an open box online with a great discount so I thought I would give it a try. I am glad I did!!!! The camera was in perfect condition. The camera itself is exactly what I wanted. It takes awesome photos and the size is perfect. I highly recommend this camera!
