After adding this lens to my bag, I seem to use it more than any other lens that I currently own. I have traveled with it and shot the kids at home. Anything shot with this will have a smooth and professional look regardless of your camera skills.

This lens is now my favorite. The bokeh is beautiful compared to the kit lenses I have used in the past. For my needs this lens is amazing and the autofocus is pretty fast in my non-professional opinion. I'm not a professional photographer just an enthusiast. I can't wait to get this lens out and shoot more!

Got a great deal on an open box lens. Does the job and takes excellent pictures. There are a lot of options out there and I just wanted a native lens for my camera.

....if you get a good copy. This is my second copy of this exact lens and I just want to warn everyone that these lenses (this one in particular) have a very high rate of decentering due to poor QA from Sony. Most of these lenses will come misaligned from the factory and most people won't notice it, but for $1,600 this is unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and get the lens tested and judge for yourself if the high price tag was worth the shotty QC. Read More Here: https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2015/10/sony-e-mount-lens-sharpness-bench-tests/ "the 35mm f/1.4 ZA lens is very likely to have some tilt with one corner or side out of the plane of focus. Depending on what you photograph this may make no difference to you, or may be a huge issue. But I doubt sending copy after copy back is going to make much difference (you may trade a soft right upper corner for a slightly soft left side, etc.). We’ve taken a couple of these apart and there’s not a ton of optical adjustments that can be made: there are a set of shims behind the front group that can be modified a bit, but it’s a crude and very time-consuming adjustment, so I don’t think it’s generally going to be something that can be fixed." -Lens Rentals

    Superb build and image quality!

I purchased this lens for my Sony A7R and A6000. Sony currently doesn’t have too many native lenses for the full frame E mount systems, especially in fast primes. The 35mm is such a great focal length to use on several occasions and having the added speed of such a lens makes it all the better. There are several good things associate with this lens, but there are also a couple of negative points with it as well. The build quality of this lens is superb! It is a beast and you can tell it has great glass with its size and weight. However, this can also be viewed as a negative when mounting this behemoth to a camera such as the A6000. It is heavy and a little awkward on such a small mirrorless. When it is mounted on my A7R it feels pretty good in the hands and doesn’t offset the balance too bad. The size and weight is just simply one of the tradeoffs you have for a fast prime. This lens also comes with an aperture ring where you can set the lens to adjust aperture settings manually. While I tend to do a majority of my work with still imagery, this feature really makes no difference to me. I utilize the camera to make my aperture settings. Some will love this feature for videography. The colors that are rendered from this lens are spot on. Excellent quality is captured with every shot. When talking about sharpness of the lens, I would say that the quality is exceptional in the center throughout the full range of the aperture. When the lens is wide open, the image quality tends to be a little soft, but this begins to clear up, if not gone, by f/2.8. From there on, it’s hard not to get a super sharp image. One of my biggest complaints about the lens is its steep price point. This is one of the most expensive native Sony lenses to date for the E mount system. There are other options, some of which require adapters or loss of auto focus! I have had this lens for a few weeks and am quite happy with its performance so far. I would highly recommend this lens as an addition to your E mount collection. You will be pleasantly surprised by the outstanding image quality you will receive.
