Very Quiet Focusing Mechanism

When I received this lens I was surprised at how large and heavy it was. I thought that the weight would make it difficult to use but I have quickly become accustomed to the weight. It won't be an every day kind of lens and walking around sightseeing with such a heavy lens will have it's disadvantages but I am willing to make it work as it has produced the most gorgeous photos. Not only does it take wonderful photos but the major upside to this lens is that there is absolutely no sound while it is focusing so in videos there is no longer the annoying focusing sound in the footage.

I bought this lens for my A58, which I eventually plan to replace with the A77. I love it. It's definitely heavy and the weight distribution is a little off with the smaller camera, but it takes great photos and is very smooth. Can't wait to use it with the A77, as everything I've read is exceptional.

Good for a Zoom

This Lens is somewhat costly , though half that of similar CZ zoom lenses.
The image quality is very good for a zoom lens, although to truly appreciate it, it's best if your camera can produce sharp RAW files.
For example the Sony a580 produces slightly soft RAW files compared to other Sony cameras with the same pixel count., match the 16-50mm lens up with this camera and you wont be seeing the full potential of what that lens can do.
However,,match it up with an a77 a700 or a900 and you will be very very pleased!
