Customers are saying

Customers commend the DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment's ease of use, the helpful addition of back buttons, and its reasonable price. Many appreciate the performance boost and customization options it offers, although some find the size and added bulk to be a drawback. A few users also noted that it may slightly decrease battery life and that installation can be a bit challenging.

I was hoping this was a sign of the PS5 controller, but it seems that the PS5 will not use extra buttons, and this saddens me as I LOVE this thing! I use it on all my games now. I am currently using it with Last of us 2, and have the left one for run (L1), and the right one for the crouch/listen button (R1). It works great for buttons that are not easily reached when playing. Just get it already!

A neat peripheral that blends well with the rest of the controller and gives you some more customization over your play.

Ideal for less than ideal button layouts

This item was purchased largely due to the button layout of a certain online game being less than ideal, even though it had thr option to assign different commands to different buttons. And while it did not increase my gameplay skills, and on occasions I've mixed up my fingers, it has none the less improved my movement reaction. Add to the fact that it can be shared between multiple controllers is also a nice touch.

quarantine found me playing a lot more COD than before. wanted to try and more serious setup and bought a SCUF Vantage2 for $199 plus tax because this was sold out. after about 3 weeks started to have a lot of issues with the SCUF and Sony restocked their back button attachments, and best $35 for upgrading your controller. easily remapable, full compatability with the dual shock 3.5mm port. Although it doesn't feel as solid as the dual shock, I cant complain for spending $35 on it.

I wasn't sure at first how much I would like the Back Button Attachment, but since I bought one I've really come to love it. It took a little while for my brain to get used to the extra buttons, but after that quick adjustment it feels totally natural. With games that require the use of both thumbsticks, like shooters, you can reduce the amount of time you have to take your right thumb off the stick. Fits the controller perfect, really nice finish, and the buttons feel good.

I've had these for over a year now. I mainly use it for Apex Legends so I can crouch/ jump while still aiming but find some uses for other games as well such as Path of Exile potion spamming. Takes a bit of getting used to but feels natural before long. Product is good quality, buttons still feel great. If you have trouble attaching it, the trick is to line up the headphone jack then it will automatically conform as you push it in.

The attachment allows you to add a mapping for one existing controller button to each (or both) of the two back buttons. The mappings can be changed on the fly if required. Unfortunately, the back buttons can't be mapped to a button combination (X and O, for example) which seems a missed opportunity for improving accessibility options.

Speed buttons make this a value! I was actually thinking that this was going to give you extra buttons but that was dumb of me. Basically you map any existing buttons to these back buttons. It is handy for sure, if a little redundant. But it allows for one handed use with some games so I like that. What I didn't like was how it made the controller more bulky and added weight. Once you get used to it, its fine. But be ready for that.

I'll admit at first I hesitated at this because of the price and concept. However, I purchased one to try it out. It ended up being great and is worth it ALONE just to map L3 as a button so you do not have to mash down the analog stick to run (in most FPS games). I liked it so much I purchased another for my other controller. The buttons feel like Playstation quality (not like a stiff third party controller) and the interface is super simple to map the buttons.
