Can not get it to work with sound

The whole purchase was disappointing.

I bought it online, but to return it I either had to drive 45mins to a store for an exchange or lose money sending it back. Best Buy would not reimburse me to return their defective product. I won't shop at a company that doesn't stand behind their own products.
