slow/failure to focus/inconsistent stabilization
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I also have the FE 70-300 g lens. This e 70-350 is slimmer and 200g lighter with smoother zooming. I had trouble with very slow focusing or failure to focus at all focal lengths not just the far end. The image stabilization was also hit or miss- I experienced blurry images or failure to focus in 50% or more of my shots. The shots that came out were great and sharp but the failure rate was too high so I returned the lens. None of my other lenses have this issue so I’m not sure if I got a bad copy or if it’s the nature of this lens model?

Great Sony Lens for APSC Cameras

Fantastic telephoto for Sony APS-C

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The price may scare some people, but compare it to other super-telephoto zoom lenses for Sony E-mount, and then consider the quality of this lens. No, it's not the "fastest" lens around (neither are any of the other Sony super-zoom lenses), but the sharpness is fantastic. Focusing is quick, I was able to easily capture birds in flight with this lens on my a6400. Of course you'll have the best results in bright sunlight, but I found that even the images where the camera was forced to use higher ISO levels were quite good (this could vary of course depending on your camera, older Sony APS-C cameras like the a6000 don't produce quite as nice results at higher ISOs). Feels extremely well built and sturdy, but not overly big or heavy. It looks quite large on the small Sony APS-C bodies, but doesn't feel awkward or unbalanced to use. I know some have complained about the price, but considering that the 18-135mm Sony zoom lens is around $600, and that this is both higher quality and has MUCH greater reach, I don't think it's really reasonable to expect it to be much cheaper than this. It's about time we had a dedicated, high-quality super-zoom for Sony APS-C cameras!

Fantastic lens

Way better than my Tamron 18-300 at the far end. Also lighter thany 150-500. Hreat for a walkabout or hiking lens when you want to capture wildlife without having an achievement mg shoulder afterwards. I highly recommend getting this one for any of Sony's APS-C bodies if you want reach without a very heavy lens. It is really great on the a6700.

Meets my needs

Look forward to seeing how well this captures sporting events this fall. I was a little worried it may be too heavy with my camera, Sony A6600, but it is fine, big yes but not too heavy.

Sony 70-350mm lens

Still practicing with it to be ready for a trip to Alaska. My only complaint would be that when the lens cover is on backwards for storage it is very hard to rotate the zoom ring. Not a big deal but I usually leave it on the lens all the time for storage.

Quality lens

I use it with my a6400 and the picture quality is great. I am able to get high details and good color. I like that this is smaller than a typical full frame lens and easier to travel with. Since it is Sony brand auto focus works fast.

Nice lens but auto focus is slow

I have been using for few weeks now, pictures are very sharp , only flaw which i have found is sometimes auto focus is slow especially indoors.

The latter broke recently and I finally bit the bullet on this great lens. The extra reach and sharpness are great. Highly recommend.

Excellent Lens

With its ability to AF fast, this is an ideal lens for outdoor shooting. I used this for sport events but it also take beautiful portrait pictures with nice bokhe of background. the weight and diameter are both perfect for handled shooting and moving around in the field. Excellent built quality as well. I was considering SEL70300G but after tested both, I decided with SEL70350G. Only drawback is the large F stop (F6.3) at the long tele side, especially in sports pictures with a high shutter speed.
