Bought this for my son, and art student who plans on doing some video as well as Photo with his a6300. This lens replaces the 18-135 Sony zoom that I now have on my a6300–he decided the constant f4 aperture and electronic zoom would provide the versatility he needs despite the larger diameter and extra length. This is a well made and solid lens. And if you’re looking at this lens, keep in mind that it is a toss-up between this and the 18-135 Comparable IQ, but the 135 is lighter and better for travel, while this 105 is perfect for video. But you are good with either lens as a quality non-prime Now if Best Buy would only carry the Sigma E 16mm f1.4–the absolute best E-series lens on the market. Please stock it!

I like this lens, it's mostly great for my use filming weddings. This is the kind of lens that sits on your camera 90% of the time, overall I would recommend this lens, yet my hunt continues...here are my thoughts. Pros: It's sharp, looks great Powerzoom feature is awesome Lightweight Great range Cons: Autofocus for video didn't meet my expectations on the FX30. It's good, but not amazing and leaves more to be desired for subject tracking/face recognition Not wide enough for my needs (most of the time it's fine but with the 1.5x crop that puts you at 27mm) F4 just doesn't cut it for low light

I was getting tired of my standard kit lens that came with my a6000 so I decided to step up. This was the perfect lens for me as it came at a more affordable price and offered the features I wanted. Like a larger zoom and better aperture. The lens is a little on the large side but the pros out weigh the cons. Brighter more detailed pictures is a definite plus. would recommend for the price for amateur photographers to pro.

f4.0 constant aperture and OSS makes this lens a great choice to pick. It takes some time to get used to it (I have a6000) due to size and weight ratio but no issues after that. Lens quality is really good and focusing is smooth. It's always a better choice over other zoom lenses in this price range.

This lens has stepped up my photography and its not heavy

Seeing the other reviews it is very true. the speed of the auto focus is fast and great. The pictures come out beautiful and really sharp and clear. Great deal for the price. Feels that it was made with great material not some plastic junk.

Takes great pictures, great lens, can't use in camera flash as it casts a shadow

Versatile lens. Lightweight easy to walk around with. Very sharp pictures at all foal focal lengths. Love the power zoom and staying at F4 through entire focal range is nice. Dont care for the fact it has no weather seal is my only complaint. Good lens for price point.

Just by the size of this lens, you would think it is heavy. Nope. It is light and handles perfectly with the Sony a6000 and a6500. Overall, this is a very sharp lens, producing beautiful photographs. The zoom function is smooth, no friction whatsoever. That is because as the lens zooms, it does not change length. With a focal length from 18 to 105, this lens will cover about any situation. It is also great for making movies as the constant f/4 maximum aperture offers consistent performance throughout the zoom range. The photo of the crows shows great detail, especially the one with fuzz in its beak.

Amazing budget lens for close and far rage would recommend for beginners. Would last a very long time and reliable. If you are going for that cinematic look you can definitely use this lens

I has a Sony Alpha 6000 camera and need a good lens to take photo and video for some Martial Arts performances. Most of them are in theaters where light could be dim and I could not come to close to the stage. I found that this lens was the best fit. What I like: Good focal range Good aperture of F4 Light but sturdy. We once dropped the lens with the camera from second floor to the ground floor in a Kung fu school. The hood distorted but the lens is still good.

I purchased the Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4.0 OSS lens, and I have been using it for about a month. It has proven to be a very versatile lens that can be used in a wide variety of situations. I recently took it on a vacation trip and never swapped to any other lenses. The zoom range is perfect for most common shots and the images are sharp and colorful. Great for stills and video. The built in stabilization really completes the value. Great lens!

I am really happy with this purchase. It is a very clear lens and makes great pictures. I purchase it for a trip to my daughter´s graduation and got excellent pictures. Everybody in my family commented about the quality of pictures I posted on facebook. I am still traveling and so far I can see in the small screen of my camera a high quality set of pictures. One of the great benefits of this lens is the constant aperture at 4.0, so you can play with ISO and speed keeping and getting excellent depth of field.

Needed a better lens to match my Camera (Sony A6300). I had a kit lens and a 55-200 zoom. But I love how versatile this lens is. I use my camera and lens as my jump out of my news truck to capture breaking news quickly. Both stills and video. Adds quite a bit of weight to the entire camera but the end results are amazing. The difference between this lens and a kit lens will truly show in your pictures.

This lens is perfect for action shots. Also the wide range of the zoom allows for me to carry lens with me on the go. Highly recommended for those who wanna use this for videos.

I’ll start this review by saying I sold all my Canon gear and leaped into the Sony world because of 4K video. Prior to purchasing this lens, I rented it for two weeks to test it out before making the $600 investment which was just under the amount I spent for my most expensive Canon mount lens. I also did not want to buy multiple lenses that I would not end up using.I was also initially worried that the constant f/4 wouldn’t be enough, and that faster lenses for this platform are extremely expensive. I have to say that I was extremely happy with the quality of the lens, the focal length, and it’s sharpness, as well as how my A6500 handles higher ISO images alleviating some of the need for a faster lens. So much so that I decided to buy it. I have used the lens for still photography and video and the images are sharp. I’m leaving on vacation on the beginning of the year and feel comfortable using this lens for the entire vacation without feeling that I need to carry a second lens.

This lens is versatile; perfect for blogging and for long range photography. The aperture is enough for what i intend to use it.
