Great accessory to my Sony camera

I am so glad I go this little mic. It has vastly improved my vlog game in so many ways.
1. it is small and easy to stow
2. the front facing mic picks up a lot more then the camera alone.
3. shockmounted to reduce the vibration noise others have been having when I used them
4. comes with screen muff to further improve the wind resistance when using outside.
5. comes with cable to connect your your TRS camera input.
6. the mounting is made easier with the half twist cinching. so you do not need to crank it down, it only takes a little movement to lock it in.
Now for the little things I don't like so much
1. it is not powered to you can not adjust gain on the mic itself.
2. the sound is somewhat flat and really dynamic. think mono split into 2 tracks
3. only fits one direction, so if I wanted to film something else but still give narration, it would sound like I am in another room, if it picked me up at all. So no flipping it around in the cold shoe.
4. the cable needs to be right angled, as to reduce the risk of hitting it while plugged in, as well as give it a more streamlined appearance.
But those are minor things compared to all the good things it does have going for it.

The Sony Vlogger Shotgun Microphone adds some nice detail to the audio. At about 3 feet away it picked up my vocals clearly. I recorded some vlogs and then I recorded some guitar. The microphone doesn't pick up a lot of low end with the music. It worked out with capturing most of the singing and guitar. It is fine to capture a memory of a performance but not a production recording. I liked that the wind sock is nice and thick but it is hard to get it on if you have the cord plugged in. I think there could have been a better place for the cord to plug in that wouldn't get in the way of the wind sock. Testing it outside it picked up a lot of the the ambient noise but at a lower volume. I was still able to hear people in front of the microphone crisply. The wind sock eliminating the sound of the breeze so that was nice. I was impressed that you couldn't hear any movement when moving the camera. The shock mount did a good job buffering any bumps.
I think this is a nice enhancement to your vlogger set up. It adds a little more polish to the sound. This has become the microphone on my go to camera.

Great addition to Sony's Vlogging Camera ZV-1F

I am using this shotgun microphone with Sony's ZV-1F camera for content creators and vloggers. While the camera itself has decent sound - adding this shotgun microphone has been a game changer for sound quality. I am not a professional vlogger or content creator - but I do have to create content for work. Before this camera and microphone, I was shooting my content on my iPhone. As I upgraded the phone and got more experience, the videos got better. One of the things I like to do is get video testimonials from our customers to use on our website and social media. I can't believe what a difference this camera and microphone has made in my videos. This is so easy to install on the camera and brings a level of professionalism I havn't had before. I used to purchase voice overs from Fivvr for some videos I would post onlne. I don't think I will need to do that any longer because the voices are so crisp and clear in my original recordings. The microphone comes with a windscreen that can be used for outdoor recording. There is nothing more frustrating than hearing the wind blow in an awesome video. This is a great microphone for shooting in front of the camera. Great for anyone doing interviews or vlogging. A definite accessory to add to your Sony camera.

While there is not a lot you can say about a microphone on its own since its performance will also rely on the camera you pair it with. I paired this mic my with another Sony product, the ZV1F, which is a great 4K video camera for those who are looking for one. I though would be great pair since I am trying to step up my game while recording people and audio in the places I film my hobbies. Not sure I need personal mics yet, since I don't really do pro style interviews. So, I decided to give this Sony Shotgun Microphone a try since it matched the brand of a few of my cameras. So far, so good. Indoors or out, the audio is fairly discrete for the subject in front of the lens. And it definitely sounds better than the stock microphone built into my camera, not that it was bad to start with. If talking behind the camera. Audio sounded a touch distant, but still not bad. And a dead mouse or muff for wind is included. Just plug it in and maybe tweak the levels of the audio on the camera and you're ready.
I am not sure if a hot shoe connection changes the way audio sounds. My use of this microphone is with the Sony ZV-1F camera and having it mounted in the cold shoe and connected through the microphone jack with the included cable.

Nice Microphone to improve your sound

This is a nice simple shotgun mic to use with Sony cameras. This isn't a complicated device and can help with you use something like the VF-1Z camera to help get audio in, very handy when you want to setup an impromptu cooking stream and want a microphone to pick up directional sound and prevent some of the cooking clatter from getting in. The sound came in clear, and it has a 3.5 mm out, so you can either have it go into the camera or directly into your computer's Microphone input jack if you want to separate the audio. They include a nice sound defuser sock that fits easily over the microphone and help reduce wind or in my case a hood fan. My little stream was able to stick with me and hear me without an issue, including my screams of terror as they triggered a few sound alerts I thought I turned off. Overall its a nice microphone that installs easily on a Sony Camera that can be added to help direct the sound of your streaming/vlogging easily and directly and have a better content creation stream

One of the things I particular don’t like about the microphone, it is on fully automatic. You cannot do anything with the functions when you hook it up to the camera if it is on automatic but the great thing about it is that is you hook it to a cable, to be able to use th functions. There is no buttons on this microphone, it is just free standing and as soon as you hook it to your camera, everything is automatic and ready to go. This microphone is very small and it sounds really good to be a free standing microphone. you don’t have buttons to adjust at all. this microphone is not for the super complexed, its basic but the quality is good. this is really light and small and will pick up sounds easily. Looking for a microphone that is light and easy to carry, this is the microphone for you. This would be a vacationers dream setting it up with the Sony Z1 camera you will capture sight and sound of all your vacation or holidays. The wind visor for this mic is of cheap quality it falls off under certain conditions and would need fabricated to keep it on.

I like the mini microphone. I can definitely tell a difference in the sound. The only thing I wish it did have was a on/off indicator. Love how small and light it is.

Excellent mic for vlogging & content creating, I have this paired with a Sony ZV-E10 (Great Combo if considering).. before and after is literally a night and day difference. It’s also plug and play featuring a locking slide mechanism to hold it in place. Awesome mic everybody!

Decent mic… worked with my Sony ZVE10 but not my A6000 which could just be due to my camera being an older model.
