The mic worked well with my camera and the ease with which I could connect took the hassle of technology out of the equation. The price is a little high for my liking, but a good product nonetheless.

The Sony ECM Electret Condenser Microphone

We have a Youtube Channel, and if I am talking to someone whom is in front of the camera, it works good because it keeps their voice normal/loud, and my voice from behind the camera lower, otherwise, I am too loud and they are too low. So for that it works great for us. When recorded a video and talking holding the camera using the eye piece on the camera, the person's voice is so LOUD that is working the camera, and the people in front are too low. This mic evens out all the voices. Hope this helps.

This Compact Shotgun Mic Fits and works perfectly on my Sony a6000. It Comes with a standard foam "wind sock" which is very effective, although I went ahead and purchased an additional "dead cat" which fits over the standard foam wind sock. The two modes work as advertised. audio is clean and clear, isolates voices out in front perfectly with amazing quality. For the price, its a must buy!! A+++

Works great. Hones in one your distance from the camera and auto adjusts to catch the sound just right. Not so good: On the Sony A6000 series it blocks the screen in selfie mode

So this isn’t the greatest mic ever but it does the job. It’s small and easy to use. Great for compact shooting and keeping a light setup. The audio is better for a concentrated sound compared to the camera’s on board mic. Another benefit is that you don’t need extra batteries, they are powered by the camera. It doesn’t handle well in wind even with the sleeve it comes with. You’d have to buy an extra dead cat sleeve to handle wind noise. I am disappointed that it doesn’t come included considering how cheap they are.

My gear is expected to provide high quality, while being compact for extensive travel. This fits that criteria and I saved money because it was purchased with other Sony items that made it a bundle.

Perfect companion with any older sony that does not have a mic input jack. I am using it with an A6000 but one thing thats a bummer is that zoom mode (shotgun amplification) does not work. Check your manual if that feature is important to you. If not, just get it now. Way better than the internal mic. Best cheap way to up the quality of an older unit.

Bought this for our daughter for her high school video production / newscast class. Does seem superior in its intended use as a narrow field shotgun mic, as opposed to the wider field pick-up of the built in mic on our Sony 4K video camera. Quality item.

Excellent directional mic. It really focuses on the front and not the sides for audio. It could use some bass but that's an easy fix in post.

    Great Microphone for Interviewing Someone

This microphone is perfect if you are interviewing someone, as it will lower the voice of the person behind the camera, and slightly raise the voice of the person in front. It only works on the Sony HX-400 in one setting called GUN, NOT for long distance ZOOM.

It is nice and compact and easy to put on any Sony camera. Indoors or in fairly calm conditions outdoors it does a good job of recording audio. But I recently used it outdoors on a gusty day and, even with the wind foam on it, there was way too much noise. Since it has no record volume control of its own, you can only try to minimize the noise by adjusting the audio setting in the camera. So, not good in all situations, but good enough for most indoor shooting.
