This is a full-featured lens with all of the options necessary. It has a removable tripod mount. The zoom rate is changeable to prevent inadvertent changes to the zoom.

After only a month of owning this lens. Have not found a situation that this lens could not Handle. But it’s really strongest suit is live action Weatherby sporting events or nature photography. The Lens is worth the price.

The Sony - FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS is an excellent lens for most telephoto needs, though it is a bit slow to find focus in low light situations, and the overall build quality is not as good as the Canon 100-400mm Lii (which is the "gold standard" for this sort of lens), though it is a bit lighter than the Canon version. Mounted on the A7rii, the lens feels a bit awkward due to its size, though it is manageable and the OSS seems to help. I have not tried the lens with a tripod so I can't say how secure the tripod foot is. I would not recommend this lens for use with the Sony A6300 or A6500, since those camera bodies are just too small and there are no additional grips that I am aware of to help stabilize the weight of the lens. Overall this is a good product and I am happy with it, though I will add that Best Buy needs to STOP putting warehouse stickers on the original packaging of camera products, since removing them can disfigure the packaging and that affects the resale value if you later decide to sell your gear on eBay or Craigslist.

I used this lens with tripod, monopod and under various settings and light conditions with my a7R III, but I was missing the sharp image. If your subject is moving, you have to increase shutter speed and auto ISO will add considerable noise. Stabilizer is not doing a great job.
I returned this lens today.
I disappointed with image quality and I paid 15% for restocking fee.
